Best in Class
Front doors are like the bouffant petticoats of girls in the ’50’s
Carefully selected to enhance the appeal at initial appearance
Providing a support for the outer layers
Coyly hiding – quietly hinting what is unseen.
The couple in this house are stylish, elegant, and sophisticated.
Their yard always neatly groomed – with just a touch of seasonal plants – tasteful accents.
Their cars recent, without blemish, and always washed and polished. (Parked in the garage – not left on the curb or in the drive to gather leaves or pollen.)
Always a couple dressed fashionably, but understated.
Always cordial and polite who quietly greet.
So no surprise when their front door was dressed for fall a few weeks ago, it was tastefully done.
Elegant and restrained among the riot of garish Halloween colors prominent on the rest of the block.
But they are also grandparents – whose grandchildren came to visit last weekend.
Adored children who excitedly brought made-just-for-you paper plate Halloween decorations – which were immediately, firmly, attached to the front door with many appreciative comments and smiles.
To me, this is the best decorated front door in the neighborhood.
Halloween lives!
Makes me smile

Absolutely wonderful. Acceptance, love, and fun beat elegance every time, although when they’re combined like this, it truly is the best of both worlds.

Cute, cute. Around here I see homemade holiday decorations taped inside windows with the images facing out. Same idea, same effect.
