S’no debate

Our snow is better than your snow. Chill out.

Forget the sleds and skis. Far too ethereal to even think about holding anyone up.

Rumors say it’s the local Chamber of Commerce’s idea to please homesick people who’ve relocated from up north.

Others say it’s Mother Nature’s experimenting with a snow prototype: crystal evolution with climate change.

March here offers a quiet soft opening of an upcoming event: Spring

Light delight.

This was last week – and most of this winter: overcast, heavy clouds, cold and rainy. Dreary. Dead Queen palms seen beyond the brick wall. It looks like 9 out of 10 Queen palms are brown and dead. We’ve had colder winters – with more snow and ice, yet they waves themselves through it. This time I think they just got depressed from weeks and weeks of no sun and gave up.(© image)

I’d kill for a dandelion right now! We got snow yesterday. After the news folks spun everyone up and all the businesses closed, we got 2 inches. Seriously? Starbucks closed for 2″ of snow. Warm temps though so hoping to see a posy or two soon.

I’ll dig them up and send you some, Kate. Just tell me where to send them!

I got a couple of pix from family yesterday – looks like Christmas cards there. Thrills sled dogs, but by this time in the winter, people not so much. Thanks for warming up a comment to leave. Stay snug!

I like dandy-lions and am a bit jealous of yours. “Warms the soul” indeed.

Wildflowers: promises promises. Today’s grim and chilly again. But wet cold years usually bring out stellar wildflower displays….I did say it looked like a slow roll out practice for spring. (Foolish me, bought a couple of replacement basil plants while sunny yesterday. Hope springs eternal..hey – daylight savings switch? We deserve some sort of warming treat for that!

I’m with you, it was Mother Nature… probably as a revenge for our fabulous leaders who said we will have tropical temperatures in winter soon … maybe but definitely not today ;O)

The pear trees are also showing white now. Fingers crossed: first that the clouds will give up enough rain to wash away the oak and pine pollen (cough, cough) and this whiplash season will be short – hot, cold, hot, cold – all together: now sneeze!
Even Molly is willing to get a rubdown with a clean cloth before going back inside -keep the green powder outside for now!
      Thanks for snorting along

This has been a very weird winter for us in NE Ohio. Seventy degrees in February. Twenty-eight degrees in March. I’m eagerly awaiting April!

Wyrd at work? We really hot the whiplash weather slows down and we do get a mild lovely spring before the summer blast. The county agents do say that wildflowers love wet cold winter, so maybe a grand flowery show is waiting in the wings

Your snow IS better than my snow I’d gladly replace yours with the 13 inches of new white stuff we got on Thursday, which also shut off our power. Sigh. It was beautiful, until I couldn’t get on the internet or watch the news to find out WHEN WE’D GET OUR POWER BACK. Then again, my snow made us all stop. Listen. Relax. Breathe. Open the wine a little early. 🙂 And wait for the sun.

Oh!!! Poor palms!!! 😳😢 But hooray for the dandelions and clover blossoms!! We had crocuses (croci?) pop up last Thursday, not sure if they’re under the snow now, preserved or decimated. But periwinkles are blooming wildly near the house, under the roof over-hang. Nice how flowers don’t care about calendars or weather forecasts. Still – the weather is CRAZY. 🙀

One thing about your seasons. there’s a big heap of difference, here we tell the difference by date. It’s March so it must be Autumn , December January? Must be summer!

    Life gets tedious don’t it?

Nor’ester #4 headed our way now. Certainly haven’t had it nearly as bad as above us…New York, New England…but geez, where is Spring in the Philadelphia region? We had a brief taste of it for two days in February, which of course triggered the launch sequence for all our plants, trees, flowers, etc. Now, they’re all as confused as we humans are. Spring will get here eventually…I think.

It was 89 F for the past 2 days – now we’re 20+ degrees cooler with a front. Whiplash season for sure (But we’ll take the cool weather here if offered – summer is looming). Stay warm up there!
