Tired and bushed

The light is so harsh when one is so broken. ©

Who knows what happened.

Did she overhear us and misunderstand?

It was a joke that “We could move and leave no forwarding address.”

Or maybe our mumbles about, “Such a cutie when small, but once they get that growth sprout, then it’s all demands and taking up so much more room around the house…”

It was a joke, I tell you.

The tender ones can be overly sensitive sometimes.

They always tell you to watch for signs: the not cooperating, pushing boundaries, getting prickly, and growing where shouldn’t.

Oh, we just shrubbed and said “It’s only growing pains.”

We didn’t realize the depth of the depression.

I guess the hurricane’s dreary grey and constant rain was the final flood that soaked to her soul.

Made her brittle.

Drowning in her sorrow (To teach us a lesson! They will miss me when I’m gone!)

It does look bad to the neighborhood.

They had noticed our calculating glances when we thought no one was watching.

Perhaps heard the quiet plans about what we’d do if she were gone…

It was plant suicide – not murder!

(Although that variegated plant that fought with her over dirt space does look a bit too smug and more fluffy than usual…)

Wait. Does it look like those Variegated Liriope are actually pushing poor Rosemary out despite her distressed condition? Hooligans!(© image.)

RIP Rosemary plant. We’ll miss you.

Phil, the Philosopher Mouse of the Hedge (who, like The German, is pretty bushed after last week.)

Rosemary, darling, we’ll miss your sweet welcomes. (© Seriously. Stealing a plant funeral portrait?)

Those plants are tough although maybe too much water….or a better offer.

You may be right. She was such a star. Maybe Hollywood was calling for another Rosemary…or Garfunkel and Paul’s song writers needed her seasoned skills?
We’ll she if she returns. Thanks for dishing up a comment

I’m still groaning over all the puns! “We just shrubbed…” Oh! My! RIP Rosemary, your thyme had come.

Our rosemary seems to survive everything, including total neglect. If I am watering outside, I may squirt her with the hose. Drought, floods (she lives next to the down spout), smoke from fire, deer (and all other animals- they won’t even nibble on her.) She’s a tough little plant. 🙂 –Curt

Rosemary has been a great plant for the area. Our library has a long neglected hedge of them. I suspect previous attempts at catching the neighbor kid’s footballs broke her spirit and the grim grey of the storm washed what energy she had left. But don’t count those roots out – Spring may bring a new rosemary…much to the other plants’ annoyance…she was so outgoing, she was dominating the flowerbed.
Thanks for sending news of her distant relatives

Maybe she was waiting for her chef on a white horse to sweep her up and take her away. Simply too discouraged to stand the winds of life’s storms. Thanks for clipping a comment to leave

Rosemary is for remembrance. I think the rain got her.

Maybe she ran off off in search of her roots?…kept humming “Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme…”
Thanks for planting a comment in her memory

Here’s the important question. Does Rosemary have a baby stashed somewhere?

You never know…Halloween is coming…It was a dark and stormy night and she was home alone. Her mother ripped away from her without even a chance to say goodbye ….

Go buy another one and plant in her memory. Mine are not looking to hot either and they have not been soaked. They are old and I guess it’s time to say goodbye. I do love this easy t grow herb. It has some great uses.

Ms. Basil came through without any complaints.
Rosemary had been a dynamo plant, but a little planting of distress might have come from her being sensitive from unexpected footballs tossed in her direction by the neighbor kids. Then with falling into too much drink…
Her previous bedmates are about ready to vote on who gets the invitation to move into that vacant spot…al of them are strongly opposed to too much branching out.

Maybe Rosemary was miffed and though she was meant for better things than football receiver? She seemed pretty broken up that the boys next door are getting bigger and need a larger playing field. She though she’d be on the sidelines as the perky cheerleader, but no. Just too sad to weather the storm, perhaps.
      Thanks for digging Rosemary

There’s an old wives’ tale that says that rosemary only grows in homes with strong women. Makes me kind of wonder about you… no disrespect intended… just saying…

Oh, my. She noticed I’ve not been doing my weights? (Darn…nags as much as my doc.) Is that a legend from the Old Country where the women hauled water from the well and spilled it along the way to plants? Buckets certainly are weighty but not planting that activity in my schedule again.
Molly Malamute, however, is insulted and wants to get to the root of things with a pull challenge. HAHA
Personally I suspect her inability to fend off footballs was the beginning…

So sad. You know she had a talent for keeping insects at bay.The buggie ones do not like her aroma. It’s a pity if the other plants crowded her out or even if those football players were to fault – they’ll miss her now with the onslaught of marauding insects!

      The smug soon learn HAHA
We did have her near the front door to deter bugs – as well as a lovely smell. Before long the stores will be spouting with small Rosemary “Christmas Trees” …I think Santa will be happy to fulfill that request
(Saw some terrible flood pix from OK – hope no gully washers near you. Not watching enough tv to keep up with disaster locations right now. But in any case – darn mosquito lobby is having far too much influence with Mother Nature right now.)
