There but for the see
Winds shifted without warning.
Could be a deal breaker.
“You roar,” she whispered with despair.
“Only to secret your gentle murmurings from others.” He surged forward to reach her feet. Roughly beseeching.
It was rocky between them.
Observers shook their heads. Staying out of it. (Though body language told otherwise.)
Each had their favorite.
Each would have to deal with the outcome.
“It’s pound, pound, pound. Over and over. You never stop.” She eluded his grasp and climbed higher.
“It’s the job. It’s who I am. But I can change.” He detoured down the gully and met her around the bend. “I can be still. I can enjoy the sunrise. I can gaze at the horizon and dream, too.”
She wanted to crumble. Fall into his embrace and drown. Ignore the storm clouds building.
Beneath her. Said firmly and true.
Misty eyed at the thought of his final wave if he turned away now.
From his depths, he offered, “Your tears feed my soul and bring all that’s good in me to life.”
Under a vast open sky, They bargained.
Only so much able to give.
A way.
There must be a way.
Strong desires burn hot. Melting what kept them apart.
Every morning now, they renew their lives together.
Her volcanic skirts flow scarlet to greet his cool blue welcome.
Playfully he leaps up softly wrapping her shoulders in the most regal of white foam.
A mountain sprite and her ocean consort.
As they say, opposites do attract and love finds a way.

this line sent chills up my spine for some reason: “You roar,” she whispered with despair.

That line started the whole thing. Glad it works.
(Trying to do the assignment for WP writing101…but it’s so hard …stories and characters just won’t go where they are directed…)

Of course it goes against all the rules of choosing titles, but the phrase was quite insistent. Google Search must go nuts trying to spider crawl my writings? Thanks for enjoying the ripples.

Oh so many serious writers around – and that WP Writing101 deal. A little splash in those waters. Started writing a telenovela and ended up with a folk legend. You just never know. That was quite a view that day. Nice to not have any tall buildings around here blocking the skyshow. (Did you see the first on is the same scene turned sideways? It just looked a little like water reflection so it swirled around) Thanks for the kind words – hope summer’s started nicely for you. Glad you tossed a comment into the pool!

Very gorgeous, and very powerful. Oh, and the literal part of my brain got reminded a lot of the honeymoon to the Galapagos – volcanoes and fire and water, and all that. Loved it (this post, and the honeymoon!)
