Buddy the Dog. Tail wagging now.
Home again. Home again. Buddy the Dog!
After 2 months of serving hard time, Buddy the Dog in San Antonio has been released to his owners.
Homer Mojica says the 6 year old golden retriever mix has lost a little weight, but “He remembered me.”
The agreement with the city of San Antonio means Buddy has to be kept in a secure enclosure when not leashed, and when in public/outdoors he must be muzzled and on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
Tough measures, but Buddy’s back with his family.
Unfortunately the management of Mojica’s apartment complex refuses to let the dog return. (Probably mandated by complex’s insurance company.)
But home is where the heart is.
So home at last. Home at last.
Buddy and his family are staying at Mojica’s sister’s house until a new place is found.
While it may be cold outside, Buddy’s doing his part to make things happy and warm.
Thought you’d want to know. (So it’s OK to cheer the Spurs tonight.)

Don’t believe this outcome would have happened if Buddy’s plight hadn’t been shouted. Efforts, no matter how small do make a difference. Thanks to everyone who pawsed to help. Cheers and big barks!

And we didn’t have to smuggle him to CO! Only thing better than a good story is a tail waggin’ dog. Thanks for keeping an eye on Buddy

Hurray!! I hope they don’t encounter any problems finding another apartment complex that will accept Buddy.

A nice little duplex with a sunny yard would be nice. Apt. complexes have gotten a bit picky. Hope they can find a place with a porch to sit on and level sidewalks around a pleasant neighborhood to wander. Thanks for keeping an eye on Buddy

Did you catch the Budweiser Superbowl commercial with the golden puppy and the clydesdales yet? Winner! (video bound to be on line – it was on the Today show a second ago.) Great smiles guaranteed

I’ll have to go look that up. The Budweiser clydesdales are always the best ads, IMHO.

It’s hash tag is “bestbuds” or something like that. Small golden retriever puppy and big horse…priceless

Found it on YouTube. Adorable. But I’ve been a sucker for horses and puppies since I was knee-high.

San Antonio is a big sprawling place. It would be nice if they could find a place near friends and family – with a yard for Buddy. Nothing makes you smile more than sitting with a happy dog. Thanks for barking along

Bah! You can guess my views! All this fuss and waste of time and money for so-called dangerous dogs. What about dangerous kids? And such a pain that they have to move home now. I mean, it’s a good result in the end, but it shouldn’t have even gone that far. Of all the problems in the world or in the USA, all this seems disproportionate to me. Poor dog must be well confused, hope he gets over it all quickly.

San Antonio historically wears a bad reputation with animal control. (Not going to get into certain area attitudes…dog/cock fighting and such) The national rescue/shelter groups know the city well. Hopefully Buddy will be the poster dog for changes and make it better for other pets and their owners. At least now the city knows it better be careful trying to quickly sweep things under the rug – the city depends on tourism and image for money.
Good dog Buddy! Sit and stay close! Paw waves to Pippa and Snow for supporting Buddy

It seems we are also learning to band together for a purpose effectively. Nothing better than a tail wagging end to a almost sad story. Thanks for keeping an eye on Buddy.
(OH – find the Budweiser “puppy Love” Superbowl commercial on line. Golden retriever + clydesdales = a serious winner. It was on the Today show this morning I think)

This makes me smile. Wonder who will produce the movie version of this story? Disney? Lifetime? Animal Planet?

You are right – we need some cheery movies! (Speaking of cheery and sweet, Budweiser’s Superbowl commercial with the golden puppy and the clydesdales is a winner. Who can resist that doggy face? Bound to be online somewhere)

What a great outcome. the girl is fine (regardless of her parents hateful remarks) and Buddy is home.
Finally the right thing was done. Hope the owners can find an apartment complex that will take them–all may be afraid of liability. If that is the case then all residents with dogs must be made to move as all dogs will react when provoked.

San Antonio is a big sprawling city. Surely there’s a duplex with a porch and yard somewhere they can afford. You are right about apts discriminating against dogs or certain breeds of dogs(which is even more ludicrous). Perhaps the public’s response to Buddy’s case will encourage the city changes. They are a place that depends on image and tourist trade to survive. Thanks for joining Buddy’s pack.
