A family out to enjoy nature and the real off-road world experience. You’ll buy that, right?

• Yep, dress the Littles up as their inner animal (so far so good…a bit of research or at least animal pictures closely examined…OK, from costume sites)
• Then, speed away in an SUV (For pretend in the woods? Super idea…even if a bit of human erosion from the drive…Moving on)
• Where’s the discovery night hike with a dim flash light (Every sound becomes spooky!), or fighting over a telescope (to view the dark sky and wonder session about the stars and other worlds’ creatures), or camp fire of woodsy tales? Nope, they haul out a white sheet to drape between trees to screen a bright, loud video they brought from home.
• Hey! Everyone’s definition of “wild and free” is different.

Reminds me of when we used to pack up the catamaran and tent and head towards some big lake in a deserted state park.

After finally settling down at a sunset around the fire ready to enjoy the quiet and dark night skies – only to have a monster Winnebago pull in and park – right next to us – the whole park mostly empty – and turn on their loud generator, lights and TV.

Yep, nothing like getting back to nature.

Even with a bit of mixed messaging, the “Seek your wild side” car promotion was slick, cute, and probably effective.

Nature alone isn’t exciting enough these days, I guess.

Each generation seems to be more distanced, and more detached from Nature – losing basic understanding of the environment.

Could explain why that young Florida restaurant owner was so agitated during his news interview. 

He had struggled through so much with COVID shutdowns. Tourism is their only hope. And now THIS!

“If we can send a man to the moon, why can’t they fix THIS?!!!!!” he complained loudly. (Stupid Nature.)

The THIS needing fixing was the Red Tide surfing all along the coastal beaches on the Gulf Side. Really mad about it.

Uh, it’s Red Tide – a natural occurrence:  seasonal, constant, and normal as the massive numbers of jellyfish wintering under the docks and piers in Palacious, TX each winter or the salmon swimming to the Pacific Northwest. 

According to National Ocean Service, “Most blooms, in fact, are beneficial because the tiny plants are food for animals in the ocean. In fact, they are the major source of energy that fuels the ocean food web.” (Cool NOA video about Red Tide and human health here)

Of course with the recent ever-changing “Listen to our the science-ish messages”, everyone is constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop, and Florida got it in red.

Stuck with the stinky fish-killing, beach trashing, tourist running-off kind of algae bloom.

Not really needed or requested.

Surely Nature could time this better – out of consideration. After all, humans are the top of the food chain…look we’re the ones with iPhones and computers!

Seriously,  Nature should straighten up ASAP! (Insert stomping feet and a demanding “fix it” temper tantrums here)

Inconvenience for one species. Over unexpected consequences for the entire interconnected environment. 

A total disconnect by some about how how things are work.

The last line above is responsible for some really funny stuff.

(EPA’s comment about climate change and Red Tide here. I knew someone would mention it…Along with the opposite view that the sun is weakening and so the climate will be cooling for 30 years here.)

Funny, “HaHa”, or Funny, “peculiar”? Mixed messages, as usual, are always up to you.
