Smarties and their civil rights

Woman looking stage right (1919 silent film star. (USPD. pub.date/Commons.wikimedia.org)

If PETA is worried chickens are offended and feel pain from the name “Chicken Dinner Road”, is it unreasonable to think highly-computerized, intelligent cars would re-tire after these events and not take some action? I mean, some cars are smart. Vehicle rights! (USPD/Commons.wikimedia.org)

We should worry. What have they learned rolling with us all this time?

Cars may be shifting towards social justice routes in defense of their own kind.

Vehicles are tired of being innocent bystanders – just trying to do their jobs – and getting banged up in the process.

Being complex and loaded with intelligent computers, modern cars come complete with extensive manuals on care and use just like most things. So they are baffled. Aren’t people supposed to be smart, too?

Is it too much to ask, they rumble, that before humans use any tool, they should take the time to learn to use it properly and safely?

Trunk of car with bullet hole. (screenshot ABC13 news)

Study in contrast. Bullet hole from a weapon and one of those fish symbols. Maybe they should have had a Virgin Mary on the dash board instead. Or just behaved like a normal law abiding citizen.(screenshot ABC13 news)

Recent evident of human disregard of vehicle rights:

  • 3 adults and one 2-year-old child driving in their nice white car. One of those adults decides to pull out a gun and shoot at another car whose occupant returns gun fire at the back of the car, striking the small child (She was shot in the head, but is alive. Police are still trying to get the straight story on this one…sayin’ gang related…) Once proud of its’ elegance and luxury, the car now punctured with an ugly blemish. Looks so uncivilized.
  • A man and his wife on the way home from Whole Foods sitting at an intersection waiting for the light to change. Two cars pull up, young men get out each car and start shooting at each other before jumping back in their cars and speeding off. Husband notices there’s glass pieces on him, a hole in the windshield, and that he’s been shot in the shoulder. The car is stunned – not only is she damaged, her charges – the passenger she was wrapped around and transporting – was injured. The shame and pain of it!

One of those quick fix-the-chip in the windshield places won’t work for this one. Actually we had someone shoot at us while on the way home from work a few years ago. Made a police report, but the cops basically yawned and said it happens all the time. Who knew you’d have to be dodging snipers just driving down the road? (Screenshot.Click2houston news)

For goodness sakes, take some lessons after stealing those weapons. You are causing chaos and damaging everyone but yourselves!

There’s a joke around here told by law enforcement: At many gang crime scenes you’ll find over 40 shell casings without a single individual being hit.

Actually not funny.

Maybe a Gun Stealing License should be issued which can only be obtained after demonstrating skill and knowledge of the weapon.

How about this one? Talk about unexpected fireworks (No cars were harmed in this episode)

July 4th a 19-yrs-old in a black hoodie (Why is it always a black hoodie? Is this what Antifa does in their spare time?) Anyway, the robber shoved a gun in the firework stand operator’s face and demanded all the cash. In order to pick up the cash, the thief set down the gun…and (You can guess, right?) the Firework stand guy picked up the gun and shot the robber.

Old saying: “Live by the gun, die by the gun” Memos might need to be sent.

Safe handling of weapons could be included in the Gun Stealing License study course.

With cars getting smart and going green these days, wonder if vehicles will consider the Aussie approach to self defense.

“Customer uses potted plant to fight off machete-wielding robber in Australia” You gotta love that.

Hmmm, at least one car manufacturer offered a vase right up front by the driver…signs of an early adopter?

Local car dealers may offer an option of greenery camouflage as a Car Defensive Accessory to shield against irresponsible shooters who did not complete the required course.

Wait. Did you hear that? What plot is this? The whispering..like slow windshield wiper swipes or miniblinds slowly lowering. Like a conversation being concealed. Something wicked this way runs. (© image)

Humans should take heed. Innocent cars seem to be under attack. There could be repercussions.

Distressed vehicles, smarter than your average Model T, could demand Vehicles Rights and call in affiliates.

Homes are a lot smarter than they used to be now, too. Buildings are probably tired of windows being shattered by gunfire and walls pieced by stray bullets. After all, buildings lined up to be safe shelters and home, sweet, homes, not target practice.

If the two groups feel the only way they can get and give better protection is to unionize, well, not a well structured future for humans.

If they and others that we have given smart to – like planes, trains…well, just about anything – if they lock in for solidarity, people might find all doors locked against them.

People better grow up and show some comparable smartness.

I agree… but this gang peeps probably learnt at James Bond… they use their guns through the whole movie but no one gets hurt… not sure if I want him as my bodyguard if I ever need one..

How clever of you to notice – it is like the Bond movies and the old westerns – lots of noise, but no damage…especially innocent bystander damage. Wonder if we really are characters in a movie and we don’t know it (someone find the script writers, quick)
Thanks for running by to view this scene

Can you imagine being a passenger locked inside an autonomous, not totally smart, car and you see some sort of incident going on ahead of you and you’re yelling “Turn here. Turn here. I don’t care what the established route is. For goodness sakes, turn.” And you barrel onward unable to convince the car it’s not a smart idea? HaHa..
Sadly humans’s rage and resulting impulsive violence in total disregard of the safety of other is not exclusive to here. (Although in Australia you may be able to deal with vegetables and farm implements that are threatening.) Mexico however with their total gun ban/murder rate averaging about 94 people a day (https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/homicides-reach-an-average-94-per-day/) – now that’s sad. To think we used to be able to pop over to have lunch or dinner and visit the market, now, just too dangerous. Looks like uncontrollable rage and the stupid idea that if you’re mad or insulted or have problem, that shooting the other person is OK is some sort of terrible virus infecting anywhere where there’s big numbers of people in a concentrated area?
But, yeah, the old saying of “no one looks out for you as well as yourself” probably is extremely true once again.(Probably the old one about “those who are a demonstrated danger to society should be removed from society…permanently” is also worth a second look). Thanks for risking a drive down this road.

Certainly true. Yet rewarding “unacceptable behavior might be counter productive HaHA (Wish law enforcement would stop using “unacceptable” with horrendous crimes…that’s rather diminishing the severity and lawlessness of the act – you say that to toddlers temper tantrum antics. Positive style corrections so the kid won’t feel bad about himself/what he did.
Wish they’d stop sugar coating the harsh reality: death. Go back to saying “This is bad. The person is bad. This was wrong.a crime, murder…Just say “Stop.” “Stop killing.” Strong words, people. No soft mixed messages.
(OMG – the next excuse bound to appear shortly is “Our legal team has done DNA testing on our client and found he/she has extreme amounts of Neanderthal DNA and therefore is not capable of or responsible for obeying modern expectations and laws. Gosh obviously that is insulting to real Neanderthals of yesteryear who are not here to defend themselves…can’t always blame the parents/grand parents/great….)
Thanks for the award winning comment

I remember the first time I read about a child in a stroller being killed after struck by a “stray” bullet: in a major City? “Hit by crossfire” is another one I will never accept either.

It’s not an “accident” (“I was really aiming at that person over there”…yes, they actually say that…posted about it before) It was a planned motion: picked up weapon, used the weapon – just screwed it up.
Everyone needs to be and use very clear language – it’s not “unacceptable” as if a small child doing something. It’s murder. It’s killing. It’s bad. It’s wrong. The person doing it is bad, a murderer, and a criminal not to be associated with or excused. And it must stop. Road rage, gang violence, and criminal activity has caused the deaths of innocent bystander children in a bit over 2 weeks. Society must demand not justice – that’s so vague these days – demand those violent individuals be removed as a danger to the public. And keep in custody/removed forever – they killed a child. Done with the social experiments. Say No – mean it and punish so others fear. Let the message be clear to local authorities. The only hope. Thanks for the shocked response.

“’It’s a joke around here told by law enforcement: At many gang crime scenes you’ll find over 40 shell casings without a single individual being hit.” Can you say “A-Team?”

Casualties from drive-by’s and other such deaths are awful. I’m not sold on the idea of self-driving cars, and especially big, three-part trucks. Seems to me that the possibilities of hacking are huge, too.

It’s funny, but not. Sad comment on today’s society: inattention to details, thugs.
Locally they are about to start using small autonomous vehicles to deliver groceries in limited (easy) neighborhoods…..can’t wait for the comedy: giant dog knocked it over, someone stops and tosses it into the back of a van or pickup, some kids carry one off and post pictures holding a ransom note, someone grabs it and moves it into an entire different neighborhood and see if it’s like a carrier pigeon that can find it’s way home, or even better, someone uses their code, grabs their groceries while another hops inside and off it goes or could the door that swings up knock a child into the cart and kidnap it? Lots of hilarious potential including hacking.
They are also workin on small autonomous helicopters that will pick up and deliver people from hotels to airports – with a controller operating it from another location. (already doing that service in parts of theMiddle East) That ought to be a thrill and chill.
Thanks for gathering up a comment to leave

That’s the sort of thing the War Office would use, always messing around in the garden, Me? I’d just throw my saucepans, preferably hot and full!
It’s really hard for me to believe those tales you tell about the guns, yet I know it’s 100% true.
Mind you we did have a nutter in a road rage incident go after his adversary with a chainsaw, which wouldn’t be out of place in Tx I imagine,
An Aussie chain saw massacre 😛

What you aren’t allowed kitchen knives? Kitchen chainsaw turkey/roast carving sounds a bit messy.
(OH, the alligator with the big knife stuck in his head like a unicorn horn seems to have dislodged it – the TX wildlife agent has been keeping an eye on him and say he’s fine – being an ancient species with incredible unexplained healing capacity – and is back to sunning and cruising around normally…or he’s just stashed the knife and is keeping it for protection – or, more likely, to use it for part of his Halloween costume…)
We’ve had 4 children hurt/killed in 2 weeks as innocent bystanders from road rage, drive-by houses shooting (Please druggies, make sure the one/dealer you are after still lives there – the last one, well, he had moved out weeks ago and that was a new family…) and one home invasion as teens in black want money. (None were NRA members. None went through any training or information sessions about gun laws. Guns were stolen)
Then there’s the teen that felt “disrespected”, stalked a family, then fired into a vehicle hitting a fuel line and causing and fire/blast fueled by fireworks in that car. 2 toddlers badly burned and flown to the major burn treatment center in Galveston – lives ruined because he was mad
    (https://www.click2houston.com/news/suspect-in-road-rage-shooting-that-sparked-fireworks-explosion-in-truck-arrested)
Big problem, that won’t be solved until attitudes change. Strong language needs to be used and these people removed from the general public. Judges need to quit bowing to political pressure by politicians to lower bail for “poor people” and keep dangerous murderers in jail. (The shooters of one little girl who was shot and killed as she rode in a car last Jan was release on bail yesterday. Outrageous.)
We’ve got a pack of people and organized gangs who are not afraid of breaking the law, not afraid of jail, not afraid of police, not afraid of hell or high water. Really full of self importance and self esteem ( and have all the workable socially acceptable excuses memorized).
The Wild West was probably safer.
Thanks for sending a hilarious comment that really cut up the gloom

You are absolutely right. We’re not too far from Detroit, and the cars seem to get 10 bullets for every one that hits a person. Often as not, it’s not even the right person.
