Simmer’s here. Ready or not
Get ready to roast.
(“Oh, no, Ella, it’s not about a big chunk of meat…please, stop drooling….Standing under the grill isn’t a suggestion. Not getting getting you anything but greasy, gritty coat. Wait. Wait. Let me grab a towel before…couch! Nooooo.”
And you just thought the fireworks and excessive emotions were over.
Summer’s simmer’s in full swing.
Quick get really into luxuriating in sultry leisure
(“No, Molly, it’s not about Aladdin, flying carpets or Sultans of Swing …Well, maybe swing and the flying carpets are applicable. Noooo.”)
Grab all the summer you can. The days are already getting shorter. Back to school ads are lurking just backstage.
Pack in all you can.
(“No, that’s not about inviting more dogs over for a pop up pup party! Nooooo! RC Cat has raised The Paw…and inelegantly emphasized the dictate with a hairball – out of anxiety, annoyance, or outrage…at least we think it’s a hairball. It’s outside the litter…..Nooooo!”)
Oh, yeah. Summer’s on and we’re fine-ish
(“Noooo, it’s not “find”, it’s “fine”…stop hunting the squirrel. He’s only trying to beat the bluejays to the neighbor’s fig tree. Nooo, please don’t scarf the squirrel rejected figs on the ground…Delicate tummies., delicate tummies. Noooo.”)
Have a pawsome weekend (Got paws? No? Wanna loaner? HA HA)

Sounds like a lot of “no’s” going on in your world. We totally bypassed spring and went directly to outdoor sauna. Whatever! Ticks are happy and hungry. Sigh. At least we have no outdoor cats to invite them in.

We are into roast all right. I’m already beginning to feel like a mole: out early in the morning and late at night…but not to late with all the mosquitoes arriving. Ah, another reason to recommend indoor cats: ticks – ugh! I hate battling those.
Hope you summer continues to tickle you – it’s summer, not a tick!
Thanks for toasting up a comment to leave

I won’t have another outdoor cat. I had to check Jake every time he came in. Despite the drops, they would ride in on him and then hunt around the house for a nice snack (like a human). We’ve had too much rain so there are too many mosquitoes here too.

Another vote for indoor cats!
(And that darn clump of undecided rain in the Gulf really should consider vacationing somewhere else)

Tail wags from Hera as she’s already taking her pawcations! ….okay, that sounded odd… she’s enjoying walking on fresh soft soil, on rocky shores and looking [from a distance, she’s not too keen on water!] at the sea! Have a lovely summer all 4 and 2 legged! 😉

Hera, Hera here’s a couple of paw waves your way (oh, sorry about the mud – we play outside when cloudy…and often muddy right now) Molly agree with you: can’t trust that wiggle moving water stuff at the beach – it’s just too weird! Thanks for splashing down here to bark along

Those fur coats look SO hot!! It’s hot and humid here and our AC is on the fritz, blowing just a bit of cool air but not quite enough. No one can see to it until Monday. Sigh. But I have to say that summer is flying by much too quickly. Seems as though it always does, though. I hope your summer’s going well if too fast.

Even with AC the dogs sprawl out under the ceiling fans. They run…or really walk quickly…around outside early and late. Always checking the breeze to see if any hint of cooler weather…well, maybe in a few months.
Hard to believe summer is half over – saw the first back to school ad today…and the stores have backpacks right up front now.
Hopefully your AC is back chillin’ again. There’s a tropical clump ambling in the Gulf – this time of year, that’s usually a lot of rain (which is cooling) – as long as the power stays on, it’s fine.
Take care and summer on!

Repair man didn’t show; no call, no explanation when the home warranty company had him call us. He’s coming tomorrow he says. At least it’s cooling off at night!

Turns out we need a new air conditioning unit. Since we’re in a rental, the homeowner has to OK it from the home warranty company before they can go ahead with it. Hopefully he’ll do that right away!

AC units only die when it’s horrendously hot…guess it’s revenge for working conditions and constant overtime?
Gotta love the night relief!

Psssst…. the obligatory rumors of tropical mischief are beginning to heat up, too. I swore this was going to be the year I had everything in order — photos taken, inventory done, “to-be-takens” neatly tagged. Whoops! I’m going to go throw a few more ice cubes in the bird bath and think this over.

Oh, OK also behind – usually have 6 flats of water in the laundry room by now and so much done. I’m blaming the Saharan Dust cloud…making me sneeze and sluggish (HaHa) Managed to pick up some water, and chips and noticed a few seasoned locals leisurely doing the same.
Looks like it’ll be rain for a bit – you know people in certain areas are getting nervous for good reason – exactly what improvements have been done in the last year? Hmmm. The biggest worry for us is whether the power stays on (and again I’ll be hearing about that generator we should have bought and added to the gas line.) Well, it’s summer, we’ll manage ( Molly is giving me the stink eye about that…she and RC of the furry coat) Yeah, the birds are probably eyeing your place for the duration?
Will check in shortly – trying to catch up from dog distracted week
Thanks for keeping the comment stack cool

Happy summer! We can’t seem to keep our birdbaths full as they birds keep bathing and splashing as if they were cooling off. Stay cool when you can!

I’ve been having to check the birdbath – so hot the water either evaporates or gets too darn hot for any bird interest. The nicest thing about summer is the lovely chorus of birds early and late – with the dogs only able to go out about the same time, it’s been nice to hear the serenades.
Chill when you can. Thanks for the cooling comment

The simmer is here too. With some added (and much-needed) rain today to really make it steam. Our resident cats, Izzy and Bella, are drooping around like damsels in great and dramatic distress, reminding me that they are snow cats from NE Ohio and giving me the evil eye for moving them to such a sweltering climate. Stay cool. 🙂

We know that stink eye: our double coated husky-malamute is tired of sweltering…and blaming us for her weight gain as exercise is impossible. Heavy unexpected rain yesterday adds to the fun. Although the heat index has been so high, actual temperature is below or “normal” July and no 100F yet? It’s coming. Sigh. Summer’s here. Paw waves in solidarity to Izzy and Bella from RC. Thanks for adding a hot comment

Paw waves to Coco. I made them wipe their feet first 🙂
(I cannot tell you how appalled we are at a couple of stories relayed by vet relative in W. TX…despite diagrams, Google’s moving illustrations of sun and globe, a local vet tech could not believe when it is sunny here, it is night in Australia….something about the equator kept coming up – which doesn’t matter at all – it’s the rotation…gads…the another young one at the same clinic thought Australia was in Europe…I guess Austria sounds a little like Australia…but – they both graduated high school. Gads…you see why we are in trouble….those 2 shouldn’t be let out without a keeper – much less caring for animals – Coco, Molly, and Ella agree.)
