Not even that intimidating Friday

Red sky at morning, warning. Night red sky, delight. (Always thought red sunset was a natural stop sign. Noted people tend to run through both…)

Does it count if you see a red sky photo first thing in the morning? Apparently.

Thursday’s child is full of whoa.

This better not be a practice run for tomorrow. (Friday 13th Supermoon/Solar Eclipse) Thought that was a private showing for the Aussies.

Duck and cover? Yesterday’s close was dramatic. Drew a crowd. Look at the right side for a small black dot. That’s an unwise motorized hang glider.(© Image)

I should have gotten up with the rustling. RC Cat is still annoyed her Not-a-cat-tree order was intercepted.

Miffed and complaining all day yesterday with no amount of food, mousies, or savage swat defense drills could placate her. (Seriously, those hair clumps have to come out)

Before dawn she leaped up to announce justice had been dropped….and not in the litter box. (Why risk getting unsightly lumps between the toes when there’s a little bit of newspaper sticking out under the facilities that can be fished out if one has patience and persistence…and then the paper fluffs so easily so there is no offensive visual…sad, the same can’t be said for the scent….

Then there’s Molly’s reluctance with the jungle.

After all the rain, the grass is demonstrating sun love by growing far too fast. And for some idiotic reason the lawn sprinklers came on at dawn.

Molly Malamute may have struggled the brutal the street life as a child, but she’s turned the corner and now, as The Princess, stares at long wet grass mumbling “It tickles.” She is perfecting this three-legged squat – all the while looking disdainfully at Staff “See what you are making me do!”

Really glad she’s looking more stable in that stance today. Yesterday she was a bit under the weather after a yearly check-up and nose spray vaccine. Her shakiness not from the vaccine, but from the bungled blood draw for heartworm check. I should have stopped when the Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dumb girls walked in. We witnessed their brutally bungling before when Molly was being treated for rat poison. Unfortunately it’s summer and our trusted tech is on vacation. It took 4-6 stabbing tries – that many in each front leg! They are lucky she’s such a kind dog – could see her swallowing hard and drooling. Not even an embarrassed apology. For good reason she was a little sore and kept licking her legs the rest of the day. Happy she seems to have recovered. Never allowing that pair near her again.

At least this morning, the mouse in the fence took pity and stayed hidden so Molly didn’t tear through the underbrush and mud attempting a capture before the darn thing make it up the big palm.

Then – things always happen in 3’s, right? – the company’s office PC computer stalled and refused to finish startup.

Noooo! There are quotes due, project drawings to post for client approvals, progress updates, and all sorts of stuff that piled up over the holiday.

As the clock turns, things are sorting out.

Mediation with cat was positive. RC is positive if Staff doesn’t replace dead cat grass with new tasty grass today, She will not be responsible for repercussions.

Molly was happy to meander from shady spot to shady spot for an acceptable length walk. (They can say her 2 additional pounds is water weight, but consistent exercise is important.)

Managed to get through to MS tech help….holding…holding..trying this and that while holding…and finally, DIY, a glimmer of recognition and obedience from the laptop. It’s slow, but it’s plodding along.

Fingers crossed (and thank goodness for back ups if worse comes to worse)

Whew.

Must find screen saver of kittens or bear in hot tub enjoying margaritas or husky singing or something.

No unicorns …that would be asking for trouble.

As the poem says, “Thursday’s child has far to go”.

At 8 pm, it’s a little late for thunder clouds to form up. Wonder if the powered hang glider was taking pictures or simply foolish. (He’s the tiny black dot at about 2:00 in the middle of the cloud) There was lightning and thunder, but no rain for us, but we walked home quickly anyway while there was a bit of wind from the softening cloud. The next few days will probably produce fabulous dusk skies as a heavy batch of Saharan Dust will arrive Friday and continue for a few days. (© Image)

Yep. Practice day for duck and dodge Friday. But all’s well that ends well. Smooth sailing all afternoon …knock on wood..

And do I have some photos of that cloud? Why, yes — yes, I do. It was beautiful, wasn’t it? Did you see the virga falling at the same time that the rays were developing at the top? There were a lot of people stopped by it over here, too. That’s quite an accomplishment for a cloud. People don’t stop for just anything!

cars, bike riders, skateboarders. – everyone was stopping. That cloud show even made the 10 pm news in the weather segment. The one time I wished I’d had my real camera with me. The bridge to the island has become a favorite spot for photographers. Glad you caught the show, too. Thanks for leaving a picture perfect comment

All those pokes, such a shame. 🙁 Sounds like a little more training is in order for them.

Gads. Those two have been there for at least the past 4 years – I keep wondering who they are related to. I should have said, we’d come back another time for the test – but with the mosquitoes we need to keep her up to date with preventative meds. Luckily she doesn’t seem to blame us. Extra treats came that afternoon by Fed EX – she and the Fed Ex guy have a special relationship- but a summer substitute was in the truck and she didn’t like that a bit. Well, she loves the box and what’s inside anyway. Thanks for joining the head shaking

Substitutes won’t do when we have a specific treat in mind! 😄

Will trust Karma to take care of it. Paws up for pups!

Bad vet techs! I doubt my cats would put up with that. They can be quite vocal! Computers bleah! Poor Molly needs galoshes to keep her tootsies dry although her bum might get wet. Soothing screen savers, power on!

We were a bit concerned by the time the vet got in and sat down on the floor next to Molly to check her teeth and stuff…she could have showed too much teeth and just how sharp they are. Far understanding and with better manners than most creatures. Lawn due to be mowed tomorrow, meanwhile it’s dried off nicely for her grassy sun bath ( she does that 10-15 minutes daily…go figure that)
Soothing screen savers work every time…a waterfall/stream perhaps (RC is voting for swimming fish…)
Thanks for bravely adding a Thursday comment

I’ve never seen a cloud like that in person. I worked at a vet’s. May I suggest that you call the vet and/or the office manager and let them know your experience with T.D. and T.D. ? And next time you make an appointment, verify your “regular” vet tech will be there, then call again that day to confirm it.

Between coast, lake, and the wetlands/prairie we do have interesting skies.
Good suggestions. My sister-in-law is a vet. Techs can be a problem. We only see one vet there and usually the best tech, but didn’t confirm her being there for that date. As far as my dog’s care is concerned, enough of trying to give people a second chance or hoping they have learned better skills. You’d think one of them would have the kindness to say it wasn’t working – and either get someone else or suggest we come back in order to spare the dog some pain and fear. Not even an apology. Probably will be changing clinics shortly. Paws up for pups! Thanks for adding some hints.

I never thought about dogs having to be stabbed so many times for blood! Some techs have it and some don’t. Just what we need, more Saharan dust! TGIF for Friday 13th and good luck with laptop.

Some people try to do careers they just don’t have the talent or touch for – those should have the kindness to do something else so none are harmed.
I think the first whisper of dust is already arriving – my sinuses are suffering. Wonder if we’ll have more spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Like sky paint.
Things are looking upL: Friday and working computers! YEA! Thanks for dusting off a comment to add

Such gentle creatures deserve better. We can’t believe the two are still at this clinic. I should have just leashed her up and left if no one else was available. Won’t be giving them a 3rd chance…changing clinics if necessary. Molly is feeling better and looking forward to The German and Ella visiting next week…talk about chaos. RC is already hugging a new packet of catnip. Hope your place/visitors are content, cozy, and calm. Thanks for slipping in on a Thursday. Paws up for pups!

Bless you. Can you not complain to the surgery managers? Mind you, if enough people left, they;d have to think there was an issue somewhere.

Apparently not. We do not like the main vet/owner as he seems to have very little real interest in the animal other than fee. Our current vet gets along well with Molly and seems Ok, but he’ll probably get tired of this clinic and move on. We’ve been though 5-6 clinics since we moved here and I’m searching now for another option…heard of an older gentleman that is a real old time caring vet, but he is semi retired and only takes a few clients. Good vets are hard to find, says my sister-in-law who is a vet out west in ranch land.

Might be worth getting in touch with the semi retired vet as you never know he might take you on, especially if he knows your circumstances. Good luck. Finding a good vet is more important to us than finding a good GP!

A third chance??? Never heard of such tolerance… except maybe in Disney films. I had to make the acquaintance of a number of vets before I found the fellow who charms my cat. No bribery, and no force is the test. If they get along well, he or she is a good doctor. If you can’t find a personable medical presence in your area, might want to try a Chinadoc, who uses punctuation to lessen pain.

Good vets are rarer than hen’s teeth these days. We’ve been through 5-6 since moving to this area. Heard about an old time vet who takes time with animals brought to him – is semi-retired but takes on a few clients – tracking that one down.
Actually with the diversity here, pick any flag and it’s not hard to find a practitioner…ther local medical board/health dept. keeps an eye on them, but alternative treatment does have its’ place. Even some vets are trained in acupuncture for animals – my neighbor uses one with her aging cocker spaniel who has arthritis and 3 legs (from a dog attack – he was a star agility dog when younger and whole).
Worth the time to find the right person and best treatment.

As a child in England we’d recite
    ” Red Sky at night,
    Sheppard’s delight;
    Red Sky in the morning;
    Sheppard’s warning’
Molly would have been perfectly justified in sinking her fangs into those fools, and taking huge chunks out of them, they were probably more worried about what they were missing on the mobile/cell phones than doing their job properly’
As for those pictures they are gorgeous, it took me a while but I found that dot, and that’s just what it looked like.
    A dot! 😈

That cloud was a monster. Huge. We see that parasail glider guy often, but wondered if he why he was tempting fate with that thunderhead – he was circling it. (and he was a tiny dot in comparison!) Always something up around here. Thanks for sailing by to chat.
