Crocodile tears and later, gators

Wetlands and waterway, near Butler Museum/Clear Lake, TX (Image © all rights reserved, copyrighted no permissions granted)

Wetlands on a warm fall afternoon. Hard to believe Hurricane Harvey stormed right across here. (“Molly stay out of that water! Could be gators!”) (Image © )

The sky is the daily bread of the eyes.

(Finally. An affordable, yet effective diet.)

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.

(Contrary to the psychobabble that life’s baggage is always a drag.)

Common sense is genius in its working clothes.

(Yep.)

What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.

Thoughts by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Nothing like hanging out with a couple of big dogs and a kid discovering what feet are for to go back to seeing the world as all new and they way it should be.

And tearful apologies for being such slacker and not responding to comments or visiting blogs, but running to keep up here…Oh, OK, maybe not wailing and wringing hands over lack of computer time (’cause I’m one of those odd people who think little kids should be exploring, sitting in dirt, and outside if possible instead of in front of any kind of screen…but, yes, texting withdrawal is brutal.), but it is a sincere apology.

Hope Santa gets my request to hitch a ride to my rooftop with him….RC Cat is sooo not amused. The emailed images of a depressed, moping, heartbroken malamute Molly have a certain HRH’s paw prints all over them…..Being catty, RC was never one to avoid guilt tripping staff.

A closing thought “Without electricity, air would rot.”

RC Cat always claims this is her favorite Emerson quote, but we wonder at her interpretation of it.

Phil, the Philosopher Mouse of the Hedge.

Portait of cat with queenly ruffle. . Painting "The Widow. 1861-1897 by Dielman,1847-1935. Boston Lib./USPD:pub.date, reprod of PD art/Commons.wikimedia.org)

“No, We are not amused. The cat grass is limp and dying. It is not being rotated. Do not trifle with Us. Remember, We know where your shoes reside. I am RC Cat and I approve this threat message.”

I love the sky quote ;o) and it’s amazing what reasons we have to keep the dogs away from water ;o) we fortunately have only duck poop and leftovers from stupid fisher men who throw their hooks, lines and baits on the ground … no gators…;o(

Much of the world’s and people’s problems seem to come from not seeing the horizon or running around outside, right? Dogs do their darnedest to correct that, but are thwarted by door knobs and latches. (Grrr). One reason why I worry about building schools without windows. Thanks for splashing down here and leaving a comment. (I will trot over to visit – promise!)

Schools without windows? Truly? How ironic that one of the world’s most-used computer operating systems is called — Windows. Oh, gad. There’s a post in that…

Where’s the photo spot? It looks lovely, despite the fallen-in bank. Plenty of horizon there, and running room, too. I feel like I’ve totally missed the fall myself, what with this and that. Remedies are necessary, before autumn disappears, too.

No apologies needed, by the way. It’s just good to see that you’re still among the harried-but-living.

Yep – gotta secure and save the littles, too bad about the blocking of creativity and imagination (not to mention brief relaxation to avoid stress). How astute to notice the irony.
It’s the canoe launch behind Butler Museum. I’ve got a few other shots for another post. We make an attempt to give Molly a special outing when I manage to get home. She’s not taking it well. And RC…well, this was in my email this morning: https://www.yahoo.com/news/stray-cat-suspect-japan-attempted-murder-101742121.html
And there’s rumors she’s tiring of her special treat of expensive tiny cans of food….but Molly perks up with those leftovers. Sigh.
Thanks for wading in with a comment – oh, there goes the siren, I mean, small child…

Look, it’s ok not to respond to posts or even visit but you must rotate the cat grass. There are priorities in life. (This message was paid for by RC Cat.)

Good to “see” you, Phil! I have been busy too but still noticed your absence. We all get swamped once in a while. 🙂

Seen you postings’ emails, but wary of helpful sticky banana fingers. Thanks for swimming along ( or possibly skiing along where you are)

Emerson made good sense, and the cat in the pic must belong to royalty. I’m sure RC thinks it’s her.

Some things are timeless and universal – like a cat’s expectations and orders. (But Molly is still doing her best to encourage RC to jog around the house…nothing like a cold wet dog nose to get fur moving…Oh, it’s for her own good. HAHA) Thanks for leashing a comment here

Real life takes precedent, or at least it should. I struggle with the balance of online and the rest. In a week, I’ll be in Philadelphia for a long weekend daughter visit and I won’t be blogging or reading blogs, just having fun with her. Makes a break a real break. 🙂 Enjoyed the quotes. The problem with common sense is that there doesn’t seem to be much of it these days; it’s just not common anymore.

    See you later, alligator.

I like your photo. So serene. I’ve been on overdrive lately with real life and blogging life. I’m looking forward to slowing down soon, in both arenas. I shall take RWE’s advice to heart– especially the last quote.

Walks and being outdoors even briefly seems to help quiet the frantic rush and noise. And there’s always some odd thing to see – like we noticed the large hawks have already migrated into the area. Amazing creatures (and we hope the little eagles are in the nest not too far from where we are grow up well and decide to settle in the area.)
With winter weather there’ll be plenty of time for indoor activities ahead. meanwhile – everyone outside to play! Thanks for strolling along

The skill of guilting comes from somewhere. She’s universally clear on her authority.
(The German is quite miffed I haven’t been by to check on you recently…she feels one of such discerning abilities must be one to keep up with. Oh, the guilt – will be over as soon as I can grab a moment to breathe. Thanks for paddling over here to chat)

Not sure it’s relevant to anything, Phil, but I’ve read that dogs are much more likely to get eaten by alligators than cats. Maybe that’s because dogs are much more likely to jump in the water. Or maybe it’s a matter of intelligence. 🙂

Are cat’s eyes similar to those of crocs? Hmm, will have to check…they may be cahoots with each other. Species of the stealth and stillness. HAHA

It may be that dogs want to get unclose and personal and bark madly while cats prefer to observe the action from afar, like up in a tree.
