Zooming. Crossing the line.
“Faster. The gator’s gaining.”
Alternative: “Make waves or else. The Threat Advisory Scale for Easter chicks and ducklings has been seasonally elevated.”
Fluff is in high demand these days.
Talk about quackers. This could mean a boat load of trouble: Dodge punches the start with their new 840 horsepower muscle car.
The Dodge Demon is “the first production car able to accelerate so hard it can lift its front wheels off the pavement” – for a distance of about 3 feet…video/read more here)
All I can see is high school boys anxious to see who can keep the wheels up the longest. Competition will be fierce and loud. Viral videos.
We’re probably lucky there’s only going to be a limited number of the cars made and dealers are already marking up the purchase prices…which means the “theft by request” incidents will probably rise along with those wheels.
One place where any of those stolen car probably won’t be going is Sweden.
One veteran journalist has proposed banning cars there to keep the public safe from terrorists.
Not sure if that particular reason will mean a car-free Stockholm, but coupled last month’s concerns about carbon emissions and the gender equality issue (What?), you just never know how things will role.
This Easter holiday, many are avoiding ruffled feathers caused by flying and traveling by car instead.
Nothing like a family road trip for making those “We’ll never let you forget this” memories.
Got some warm memories of travel food? Mom always packed apple slices and carrot sticks. Warm ones. No cooler up front.
Lunch predictably was warm, canned tuna sandwiches on white bread served at a roadside park.
But we had a red checkered plastic table cloth – which flapped like crazy. “You can eat with one hand. Hold that corner down.” We shall not discuss the rough concrete benches with unidentified sticky stains.
I can still feel the grit pelted from passing cars.
Road trips now today offer much more options: chain restaurants one after another.
Crossing the Colorado state line couldn’t come quickly enough: Colorado had Carl Jr’s.
Recently Carl Jr’s put their sexy food spokesmodels under wraps. Bowing to social media pressure or just time to move on? “Skin is no longer in”.
The new advertising campaign featuring the return of the “founder” may be brilliant. A rugged Carl Hardee Sr strides into corporate to reclaim his office and to kick out his son while workers carry off the super model pictures. Followed by vintage memories of the company’s earlier years.
We’ll see if it keeps people traveling along with them and makes their female customers happy.
Meanwhile whatever your choice of dining or travel, may you have a good Friday and a hoppy Easter.

on one hand I smiled as I read about the idea to ban cars for this reason… but on the other I think it’s scary how helpless we are in europe….
we once had potato salad and hard boiled eggs as marching ration…. later we had all windows open ;O)
Happy Good Furryday to you!

Everyone seems to feel like we are all on an wildly tossing raft in a turbulent ocean right now. Literature, dogs, and cats – only way to settle unease – even if temporary. Dogs rock!
Thanks for the Good wishes!

I saw something on FOX news yesterday regarding the Dodge Demon. I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t have access to race car fuel in this neck of the woods.
I wish you a lovely Easter holiday… as for here, I’m tracking Ms. Turkey Hen – who likely has a nest in our very own woods. I spotted another hen roaming (alone) in the pecan orchard earlier this week. Lots of hidden eggs around I hope!! 🙂

Muscle cars are nice, but when the traffic is so bad you can only travel at a snail’s pace, you have to wonder why bother with anything speedy at such a price tag. (Anyway here, certain cars just make you a target as criminals steal to grab a getaway cars for crimes. I’ll just stay nondescript)
Turkey in the wild straw. Cool! Those snakes and predators better leave the birds’ eggs alone! (Maybe they’ll be too busy doing the bunny hop until the little ones hatch and get on the move.)
Hope your Good Friday is great and Easter is the happiest yet

These little masterpieces from another era when print images were rare and appreciated. For years ads and post cards may have been how artists made enough money to pay the bills. Glad you enjoyed the find. Have a great Good Friday and Hoppy Easter

I remember roadside lunches. Sticky fingers. As soon as they came out with fast food we abandoned those warm baloney sandwiches for questionable pulled something with barbeque sauce (to hide the meat source of course). There always was a soft serve sundae of course 🙂

Baloney sandwiches with tons of yellow mustard (which dripped). Once soft serve ice cream cones arrived, even mom was willing to stop for a break. Kids may have fast food stops, clean bathrooms, and video or iPads in the car, but they’ll never experience so much old fashion craziness.
Thanks for serving up a made to order comment

I get car sick – it’s better now than it used to be, when we got to make lots of unplanned stops for me. As a kid, my mom used to give me ginger snaps to help keep my stomach at ease. For a long time, just the smell of ginger snaps was disgusting to me, probably because of this. I can eat them now, but it took a long time.

Me, too. Backseats of some cars swayed more than others. I could never read in the car and my brother hated riding with me. My mom banned milk for breakfast if we we on a trip. Ginger is suppose to work. Mom discovered dramamine pills and I spent some trips in a fog. Those pills have a terrible aftertaste….enough to make you sick. Counter productive?
(I felt the same way about canned tuna fish, hot apple slices and carrot sticks for years..ugh)
Thanks for driving by with a comment. Have a great Good Friday and Hoppy Easter

Delicious mix of goodies! Many good memories of long car trips. Across half the country, backseat all to myself. Fluffy pillow, books, and stops at root beer stands if they were around. Sometimes we pulled in at the turnpikes’ restaurants or- in the case of Illinois, “oases.” But my favs were the soft-serve ice cream stops. Nibbles in the car, not too much liquid (to trigger frequent stops), often Sugar Daddy candies. Did you ever have those? One could last me from the lower right corner of PA to the mountain tunnels. YUMMM! Stockholm has no cars? Amazing. So no car theft, then, or parking places? Wow.
I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful holiday!

Sugar Daddy on a stick? Great for pulling loose teeth too! It must have been fabulous to have to while backseat to yourself…we had that line down the middle of the seat you dare not cross. Even without Ac or radio those trips were great. Although we never stopped to see the two-headed snake.
Holiday paw waves to you and your realm!

Oh, yes…the one on the stick. They made the little Sugar Babies pieces in a bag (which were filling-killers, too) but I was partial to the “lollipop” version. SOOOOO good!

And “Don’t run with that stick in your mouth.” (Never get ones in a bag: they spill and you might have to share them….we rarely got candy, so choose well HAHA)
Happy Easter to your Realm!

Wasn’t the artistry incredible in those early 1900’s cards? I have seen more of the valentines from old family stuff, but now Easter, too! Hallmark should take a long look 🙂 CGI and technology are great, but good old human skill cannot be beat (imho). Remembering all the long, hot, miserable Kansas drives as a kid… how very spoiled i am to be able to cover that same route today in a/c comfort, with any food or drink desired easily obtained within a matter of maybe 30 minutes at the longest. Clean restrooms. Satellite radio for favorites without static or radio frequency limitations. But those were the good old days, right? Or else spending time in Colorado was worth the suffering! Happy Easter 🐰 to you, good stick to Molly, curtsy to Her Highness, and juicy flies to Bob!

It must be that the card truly reflect society. Have you noticed how mean spirited and crude many cards are today..funny, maybe, but still – it’s a greeting – that’s supposed to be welcomed and cherished (or maybe not now that print and images are so common). As the world yearns…
Car rides even without the modern accessories were/are the best. Turn it all off, roll down the window and be with the environment you are traveling through. (And there’s always singing loud and playing silly car ride games…)
oh, OK a convertible and road trip music turned waaaay up is the perfect combo they say…have to make do with the windows rolled down (Look antelope!)
