Gritty
Be the grain
Not that bothersome wheat, oat, or barley. Those too corny.
Be rock solid. Whether SiO2 or CaCO3.
Sharp crystals.
The builders.
Be the grain: pile on the poundings, repeated washes, all the tumbling and sunning.
Be not the pail.
Those of the never-ending of “half full” or “half empty”
Those far too quick to spill it all.
Be not the shovel.
Who knows where they’ve been or done.
Those too sharp and rigid. Cutting in the wrong hands.
Be the grain
Soft to the touch, yet inevitably dominating.
Undeterred by obstacles or nature’s stormy temper.
Be the grain of grit.
Make people squirm in their seats.
Just be wary of tires and feet.
Life of the beached.

I agree ….never be the shovel… specially not the shovel my momma just used…. the shovel always get’s something and will lose it one moment later ….

And there’s those mysterious bits stuck to the shovel…
Molly says shovel handles are to be chewed…serves those troublemakers right for falling down and making so much noise in the garage. Thanks for digging up a comment to leave!

Easy agrees…we have nothing without chewed handles…but to chew the handles of the wheelbarrow was mean… it is so darned uncomfy now to use that thingy :o)

What a cool video. Though I expected the end to show everything washed away. We might also aspire to be the water.

Good to go with the flow unless you’re building materials for sand castles. 🙂
Water and sand is a fine dance couple – they say opposites attract!
Usually the contest castles and creations last for a week so people can leisurely view without fighting the weekend beach traffic and parking, but we’re in a stormy weather pattern now.

No big deal. I have a sand castle of the Taj Mahal in my backyard right now. Oh wait. That might be a hill a mole made.

Loved this post to death.

Some rave to be the belle of the ball, but that rarely rings true..especially after high tide wipes out Cinderella’s castle. Thanks for kicking a sandy comment this way

I’m always amazed at what people can create with sand or, in winter, ice.

Castle or creatures. No matter the material the sculptures are stunning. Interesting that with ice or sand scluptures water is the ultimate ending…so with that “Rock, Paper, Scissors” game is missing something? Thanks for sanding down a comment to add

They appear and then disappear with little trace – That’s magic and a grain of hope. Thanks for stacking in a sandy comment

I just returned from an endless sandbox after playing all weekend. No shovels, all fun.

How cool! I don’t have the temperament to work that hard on a work of art only to see it destroyed by the next wave – same for chalk pictures.

I’m with Molly – a quick review and then head for the AC. Maybe if they held the contest in the winter..usually it’s in June, but we had that big flood that weekend.
While these creations are built far back from the high tide line, nothing can stop foot action by an excited kid ( of any age). Grity reminder that nothing is permanent (or safe from dogs). Thanks for scooping up a comment to leave.

And with all the space, sun, and waves no litter box could be finer! (It comes with sea gulls and water birds to chase, too. How thoughtful! Now that’s making visitors feel welcome.) Thanks for herding a comment this way. Hope and as sunny garden spot adventure waits you. Paw waves!
