Questionable motivational practice.

An uplifting experience (1942.PD/Commons.wikimedia.org)

In this age of extreme sports, there are those desperate to be the first on the chop, but this seems a bit much.

One local neighborhood’s type of exercise motivation is not to be beat. (And you do so at your own risk…)

Joggers find themselves not only running faster, but jumping higher!

A couple watching TV was startled recently by a jogger hurdling over their back fence.

Rumors about the Olympic Games relocating had been mentioned, but they weren’t aware of any high jump competition or cross-country events scheduled for their yard.

The frantic jogger stammered he’d been chased down the jogging trail by a very hefty, but very much in shape, alligator.

Did his lift come from a coach with bite?(1904 Summer Olympics. Harry Hillman.USPD/Common.wikimedia.org)

Gator demonstrating coaching strategies useful for the Olympics?

Athletic types attract the girls, he’s heard.

You know how hard it is for an 80-year-old to break into the party scene. Everyone always said he carried his weight of 750+ pounds well on his 12 foot frame. Made him appear like a gator of means. Now if he could only grab on the team to Rio…

The motivational gator did win his wish to travel. Brazil or El Campo?

Both sound foreign to him, so what’s the difference.

Besides the locals here were presenting him with less than an Olympic body building diet.

He was running on empty. (Quite game about it, though)

Here’s a bit more about other animals dealing with recent storms.

Holy spajolie! A 12 foot alligator chasing joggers. Mind you joggers can be very uppity and holier than thou, There have been a few that I may have wished to be taken down a notch or two. 😀

Beware if you’re driving near Memorial Park’s jogging trail – hostile runners have been known to kick car doors and frequently curse drivers. Seriously, red means “stop – for joggers, too…Maybe it’s the heat and they need more hydration for their brains to function.
That gator had lived there for quite a while and there are pix of him sunning himself on the banks of the creek. Apparently he’s gotten very friendly due to people feeding him recently. He thought the jogger was a later pizza delivery guy with his order?

Ha! I had an ivy league jogger in Boston call the cops on me while I was unloading a truck at 6 am because even though I was in an unloading zone – he had to go around me – and he thought that was impinging on his rights as a rich jogger. It probably didn’t help that I told him to stop acting childish (he was about 40 and I was 30 at the time) and grow up. ha!

How funny – I can just picture that! Probably still rambling down that street – well, maybe a bit slower, but just as ornery, no doubt. Will runby and catch up with you world pretty soon. Thanks for parking a comment here

What an interesting way to write. I like it. I’m also glad the only thing that follows me running is bugs, maybe a dog. #UK.

Curious as to what ordinarily follows you. June bugs at the starting gate now instead of May flies (and this year May did seem to fly. That’ll bug ya’)
Thanks for the kind words. Best to remember things her are often not what they appear – and to always pack a sense of humor. thanks for jogging by and tossing a comment into this yard

I don’t blame the jogger for mastering the high jump! The news this morning was talking about the massive rains and flooding in Texas. I hope everyone stays safe. Enough with the rain.

The past 3 days without rain have been wonderful, but they are warning it all starts up again tomorrow with flood warnings until the weekend. About every 10 years we get a weather pattern like this – I remember all the boredom and wet shoes! Pretty soon the gators will just be surfing over to house roofs and perched on chimneys. They can call encouragement to all the swimmers: man and beasts. Perfect coaching experiences for all the Olympic aquatic events! Thanks for adding a splashy comment

I bet hurdling comes easy when you have a gator on your tail. 🙂

Rmemeber that old song “I’ve got a tiger by the tail” by Buck Owens?
Seems like the animals are determined to get into the action.

An alligator is all fine and dandy as motivation for those who live in warmer climates, but up here where we have bears, I’m pretty sure we’re going to have to jump multiple fences to escape. I guess I should view it as extra training (and be glad we don’t have mountain lions).

A stampeding herd of buffaloes got me moving pretty fast….It’s all a ruse, their quiet grazing/hardly moving..

Hey, don’t downplay those donkey hooves! (And be ready to hand over that carrot or apple quickly…better yet, toos it far far awy in the other direction so you can escape….wonder if that would work with gators…) Thanks for packing up a comment to leave here
