Short falls. Long reach.

Short ones work harder?(USPD/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Briefly, that’s it. The rapid fire world prefers just a few lines. Quick eyes have it.

You knew short would dominate sooner or later – and it’s not just since they are small you can feed them less. The little one can be pretty heavy, too.

If poetry is the best thoughts of the best minds in the best order, then Haiku is one of the highest forms: simple, yet complex requiring effort by author and audience.

Short and sweet, intense or bitter. Without a second glance, you’ll never know.

The fine lines of cartoons are much the same.

Cartoons are the haiku of the fine arts world: deceptively simple, interpretation optional.

  • Mike’s recent cartoon in his blog doodled out giggles last week.
  • After laughing at the whimsy of the rhino on such vehicle, a thought: “Nothing is difficult or a problem if you don’t recognize it as one.” (Click over to see his doodle. It’ll make sense then)

Like the elephant in the room, cartoons are both the circus and the yogi.

Haiku or cartoons, fine lines draw.

Phil, the Philosopher Mouse of the Hedge.

They didn’t forget. Florida has always been popular for retirees. These ready to leave the jungle of work for a more fitting one (Pedicures and spa baths still included, but without the gawkers.) “Back to Florida: Ringling Bros. circus elephants to retire after May 1 shows”

A little grain of advice offered to these lucky elephants: be warned. Once you relocate to Florida, relatives seem to come out of the jungle and invite themselves for extended stays. (But it may take that rhino a while to get there on that trike.)

I love the rhino… it reminds me of a friend who tried to ride on the little bike of his toddler brother LOL

You’re right easy – so much like those charity fund raisers where adults are on little trikes. Everyone loves a red bike. Just look at that smile. Thanks for riding along, Easy

That is the most hilarious rhino ever – (you really should cage and defend the rights – and make Tshirts/poster with that phrase.) Just delightful. Thanks for drawing the line and wandering by to chat

Simply couldn’t let that hilarious rhino disappear in all the blog lines. Just too totally happy despite the problems being pedaled. Thanks for turning in to chat

I can relate to that rhino. Sometimes my tire is flat too.

Wow! Wonderful! You pulled all the strands together masterfully! Love this post – much to ponder and enjoy. Thank you for the rhino cartoon link. Big smile! Also: Pickles has asked me to ask you if Bob is partial to haikus. She thinks he might be.

Animals know how to party and make people smile. Bob said a nod to haiku and a grin for limericks, too. Molly of course is more of a wild thinking free verse sort. Poetry and cartoons – something for everyone. Thanks for pondering along

“There once was a lizard named Bob,
Who was so handsomer by far than ‘The Blob.’
He’s funny and wise, has sweet soulful eyes,
And is now my wondrous heartthrob.”

Signed and Sealed by Especial Proclamation hereto: Her Imperial Highness, Princess 👑 Pickles

PS – Dear Bob, I couldn’t find a better word to rhyme with Bob than Blob. You’re handsomer than anyone in the world. But that doesn’t rhyme and it couldn’t be a limerick if it didn’t. Oh! And I wasn’t allowed to make this naughty, either. Princesses don’t do that. (P)

Everyone wants to retire to Florida! Good for the elephants – they can expect visitors.

Hope the elephants tightly wrote their retirement contracts – they don’t want to be rudely told to hold things down during hurricanes. Party on pachyderms! Thanks for sending them off with a nice comment

Haiku and cartoon – the abridged version of art and poetry – love this post Phil. I was pleased to hear the elephant’s are being retired. Must have been a tough life for them. Once saw them in Boston where they arrived south of the city and then were marched north to the Boston Garden arena for shows. I doubt they will miss all the hoopla.

Oddly the two have so much in common. (And who couldn’t smile at that rhino…better than all the political cartoons right now. I think Peanuts should be read and taught in schools.)
Considering that elephants are social creatures and develop communities, traveling must have been difficult. Nothing better than enjoying the spring grass between toes. Good for all. Thanks for tossing a comment into this ring

Amusing Phil – I’m not much of a literary scholar, so poetry is a mystery to me. Love the rhino.

      Ride on little rhino!
It seems like school into heavily into long, dense, wordy, and flowery poetry when it is taught. But there’s all sorts out there, why poison everyone with the sickening sweet or overly dramatic stuff? Someday you may find the poetry dish that hits the spot in the literary buffet. Much of poetry is short – you can hit and run and not get charged. Thanks for reaching this comment parking lot.
