Order or order not.

Unwittingly ominous. (Or was that witless synonymous?)

First a Blood Moon lunar eclipse. (Why is it so difficult? That was scheduled for Oct 31. Must redesign decorations now. Orange Tiki lights just don’t have the same glow…)

A bunch was whoopin’ it up on this party boat by the resort hotel Saturday night. They were either going out with the big bang or partying in celebration of a passing. Asteroid, not a funeral..I know people get the two confused.©

Then the asteroid numbered with the name of The Beast: 86666. (Not being a math person, numbers have little play here. As far as Earth batterers go, ignorance is bliss. Considering the constant threat, must have been some secret Restraining Orders issued. The Cabal? Possible. They wouldn’t want their Blacklist investments threatened.)

And finally it was clarified that when Molly mentioned she’d welcome the workmen, she really meant “welcomed as breakfast and lunch”. Of course there’s been a heat wave and no chance of her snarling and lunging at the windows playing outside.

“I love the sound of hammering early in the morning. Let the games begin!”©

Know that sound of fingernails scraping down a chalkboard?

Perfect definition of life here in the final tardy stage of construction.

It’s causing odd behavior across the lot. Yards of it.

What do you do with one that’s a hoarder?

Try to reason. They promise. Go in repeatedly and clean out the mess, but as soon as you turn your back. Stuffed in every nook and cranny.

Their abnormal behavior can just stab you through the heart – or the eye. Give it up, you can’t keep every little thing that comes your way!

I see those crepe myrtle leaves. If the original owner threw them away, why are you hanging on to them? Saving them from what? She looks defiant and defensive.©

And then there’s always the one who won’t leave the party.

Hints ignored. “Late bloomer” excuse lamely tossed about. The others murmuring “That floozy Frangipani“.

Keep wasting all this energy and she’ll pay for it later. Never listens. Just like that  “Ant and the Grasshopper” story. We’ll relent and give the party girl shelter when she finally droops and is barren. (And all the others will be miffed that they followed the customary process and, yet, she gets a blanket.)

Signs and sighs of chaos. (The only and normal order of things around here.)

Keeps things interesting. (Plant that in your mind and say it over and over until it sounds comfortably convincing…)

Flexibility is fun.

Resorting to that.

I hear you Molly… that noises are familiar…. but we left my crib as my dad started the angle grinder… that’s the noise of a dentists drill out of control :o(

Easy, Staff was able to find friends for me to visit one day, but the other…barking is so exhausting. That cat is looking pretty electric frizzy – she had to vacate her worse case scenario hiding spot. I think she went into suspended animation…until the workers left, then she was cranky city. Shiver that drilly noise. Thanks for running by to share the misery

Fingernails on a chalkboard was always the horror sound of my childhood but I have found as I have grown older a new terror has revealed itself. Styrofoam. I don’t like the sound of Styrofoam being handled…and especially rubbed together. I have not revealed this aversion until now so I hope it will bring others into the light to discuss if they too have an issue. As for Molly she would have an interesting time in our development. Every third home or so has a doggie and when one goes for a walk and passes within another’s view off goes the barking. Which only escalates as more houses are passed. You can imagine what it’s like at 6 AM and 6 PM when pets are taken for their once or twice a day tours. Over time all the woofing has become like white noise which doesn’t really impact daily life at all…but I bet if Molly paid a visit these local bow-wows would be wowed.

Oh an extensive Doggy Talkline there. Molly is very selective about which dogs’ barks she dismisses and which she will respond to. Bikes and skateboards are always loudly protested, though.
Now the German is totally different:if it moves anywhere on the block, she’s at the window rabidly barking at it. She thinks it odd we allow people to back out of their driveways or go in and out of their houses. And she hates the sound of basketballs. You can take the dog out of training, but getting the training out of the dog…
Molly is the party girl – she’d love your block! Thanks for leashing a comment to leave

It will or it will be on pause as company is coming this weekend – and the furniture is going back – quarter round or no quarter round! (It’s all a plot to discourage me from that one last project: the kitchen backsplash….)
Thanks for nailing down a comment

Ah, chaos, the state that keeps our stress hormones circulating in overtime. Hope things settle down (and quiet down) once the construction is finished.

Dog walking is zen…now it that cool front actually makes it here! I see people in long sleeves at football games on TV and sigh.
(You know the intentional chaos of remodeling could actually work as a murder plot…a calculated attempt to drive insane or all those solvents/tools are just so convenient….someone is probably penning that script as we speak…Halloween movies are coming!) Thanks for hammering out a comment – hope it’s cool and calm there!

Molly – I like your idea of “welcoming” the workmen. It’s probably good though that Mom wouldn’t let you get a taste.

We tell people she’s overly enthusiastic…not that the face licks might actually be sampling like at Costco. Just kidding, she’s very social…loves to stand on your feet and leave souvenir bruises of her affection. Thanks for barking along.

All these projects were things we agreed to do ASAP when we bought this house. But good intentions interrupted, so trying to get back on track so we’ll have time to enjoy it. (And besides, husband like to tinker and do stuff himself…but projects take longer/are harder at this age when you have to stop work for sore muscles…and then having a job takes up so much time). Making progress…it really would help if The German and her Person’s schedule keeps them from visiting this weekend – but Molly would be crushed. That Christmas tree is going up THanksgiving, no matter what…maybe getting out the train set this year. Surely Molly won’t attack it this time. Thanks for the encouraging words

Ahhh, chaos – so charming. And doesn’t it so make us appreciate the small order in our lives? Have no fear- there is only one way to eat an elephant-even a flying one – and that is one forkful at a time. That’s my euphemism for large projects will eventually get done and order restored- no matter how bad it may seem.

That elephant process works! It should be taught to every kid from preschool up. IF there wasn’t chaos around here, I’d be worried…and probably go find some…I think that’s how we got Molly. Like elderly relatives used to say when we whined about being tired, “We’ll have plenty of time to rest when we’re dead.” So that real message was: “Keep moving or else.” Thanks for organizing the comments!

Oh, pets don’t like construction sounds at all. I would have to agree that after a while it just needs to stop! I had to chuckle at the thoughts about hoarding- I was just at my parents house for a few days and they (especially my dad) are collectors of things. Can’t find a spare space anywhere…. the garage and every horizontal space is full. Drives me nuts. But I guess I’m already pretty much there.

Hoarding…”Those who live in glass houses,” said the wise old oak tree. While everything’s out of place, I’m trying to sift through and make trips to Salvation Army. Good stuff someone needs and can use…and there’s just too much stuff! I was lucky my parents had cleared much out. I’m seeing the sense of that. And visions of those hoarder houses where there are pile of stuff and narrow pathways – shiver. There is a limit to the nuttiness you can take. (I’m behind reading blogs from the sorting and grouping, but will be over shortly to see what’s going on in your world – winter coming there yet? )

We live in backwards world – hibernate in summer (get cabin fever), then run outside and do house projects the other seasons when it isn’t so darn hot that just about anything will melt. Progress being made even if slowly. But the clock is running….that Christmas tree – the giant one – is going up this year at Thanksgiving – ready or not! (And RC Cat can’t wait…she’s always loved timber climbing sports.) Looks like a cold front sweeping your way – hopefully it comes with sun. Sunny winter days are a delight…especially at the first of the season! Thanks for pruning up a comment to leaf

The others murmuring “That floozy Frangipani“.

Best line I’ve read in weeks! Perfect description. Makes me want to assess what kind of party guests all our flowers would be. None, of course, would be quite as delightful as your floozy Frangipani. 😉

I heard those plants whispering behind her stem! You are right, there’s always a garden party going on…neglected to send the invitation to us, I see…Thanks for raising awareness gardeners should be demanding to be more than just the refreshment providers!

That fingernails on a chalkboard wasn’t really necessary, was it? I not only remember that, I feel it every time someone brings it up.

I saw the windshift this afternoon at about 3 p.m. Thank goodness! No coolth with it, but at least some relief from the humidity.

Speaking of hoarding, did you catch the article about digital hoarding? It was about some guy who takes hundreds and hundreds of digital photos, and can’t bear to part with a single one. He spends about five hours a day sorting through photo files. Oh, me. I’m getting heavily into the give-away-toss-away myself. I thought I’d dump the wash basin I have from an antique chamber set (the one Dixie Rose curled up in as a kitten) but lo and behold, when I got it out and set it by the door — you know what happened. So, it stays.

Good Dixie’s there until you come to your senses. My brother/sister-in-law and I used to get so amused/annoyed when my parents always had a pile of stuff for us to take when we left after visiting. I’m beginning to realize how smart that was. Items got to the ones they wanted to have them (mostly…we shall not go into that) and they pared down – less dusting!
We have piles of old photos – I need to at least sort and group them/labeling if not put them in albums – many are already scanned….but the weather is finally nice – who wants to stay inside – I can’t even get blogs read. Rainy day activities. The El Nino is getting really strong – like the one in the 50’s they say, so colder than normal and wet winter ahead.
(Dixie, keep sittin’! We’ve got a huge old pottery “fruitcake” mixing bowl about the same…lovely lounge – nice in a sunny spot as it heats up well?)
Thanks to sorting out a comment

We have definitely turned the calendar to autumn—thankfully. But I’d rather enjoy these days without the noise of household renovation work. Hope things soon return to a level of normalcy for you!
