Call of the While.

Sail boat (NO permission granted) docked in Boston. ALL rights reserved. Copy righted

Chained sailboat flows through a surreal reality while prisoner.©

Stuck. Restless.

Sailboat tied to a pier and thoughts forming are so alike while waiting.

Outfitted for fluidity, yet tethered firmly to cleat or the judgmental frontal lobe.

Surrounded by water. Dependent on water. Thoughtlessly helpless.

Vast open ocean offering adventure.

Open-ended headstrong questions reorganizing, re-evaluation, rediscovering what is known.

A constant motion. Tugging. Pulling. Loosening of boat lines.

Do it. Do it. Sloshings chant. Break loose. Work harder.

Tiny nudges. Gentle coaxing slaps on the anchored hull.

Almost there. Stretch. Slip the lines. Slip away.

A constant brain storm. Searching for words. Fusing pieces of known and unknown.

Do it. Do it.  Grey matter rhymes: Breath in. Focus more. Connect point A to B.

Synapses, dendrites, heart racing like in a late night’s dream.

Almost there. Rework. A piece clicks. Neurotransmission completed.

Movement of boats and minds hindered while.

Chaffing: restraining wraps of threads binding. Threads of accepted thought resisting.

Waiting for a watery tide to set thoughts and boats adrift.

Open water. Open mind. Open options.

Set a course leaving those docked behind

If you don’t have a PhD Phil, you should do one. When your adviser asks for alternate explanations for your findings, your list would be longer than any other yet produced. Ha! Just waiting for high tide to slip your moorings and be free!

Committee members are not interested in parallel universes? Thanks for sailing by.

If anyone could convince them that parallel universes exist, you could. Don’t give up just because it is hard. If it wasn’t hard it wouldn’t be worthwhile.

They had to get a sense of humor.(Like being solemn and elevated ever improved anything.Intimidation is so overrated.) Always good to slip by in the shadows underestimated – much fun then to leaping onto the stage and leave them all in the dust with undeniable presentation. Yes, then, even they have to admit alternative worlds have place. Gotta play the game for the credentials. You are right: nothing given easy is valued. Appreciate the kind words. (Molly took things in paw and kept me away from the keyboard over the weekend, so I’ll have to track back to find your latest. I’ll get there. Hope some fall winds are stirring some of your tales into font.) Thanks for splashing down here

As an aside I did a guest post over at Mark Bialczak’s http://markbialczak.com/2015/09/20/virgin-territory-the-beginning/ recently. I’d be honored if you had the time to drop by for a read Phil. Thanks 🙂

You do have to play the game for the credentials, but once you’re done. you’re done and you can stop playing and there is dick all they can do about it then. I know a number of people who have done that – smiled and nodded and did as they were asked – got their degree and then came back and took apart their advisers (disproving pet theories dearly held). You sure have the brains Phil.

That’s the best plan. There’s dues to be paid in any position, just calculate it as part of the cost (and you’ll outlive them in the end anyway). So go ahead and smile during it all, right? It drives them crazy. Nothing more fun. Thanks for calling up a comment

We all want to break free at times. Good to see tethered boats are no different!

Everyone thinks boats are happy to bob around waiting. They even lunge towards anyone near hoping for a chance to sail away. Were solid walls and firm doors invented to hold people still and keep them from wandering? Fall weather time to romp…if it ever arrives…meanwhile, just bobbing. HA HA Thanks for tossing a line this way

Aha… sails! They tease us landlubbers with possibilities if only we could tear ourselves free… of those things that also keep our thoughts and bodies chained to that primitive device, the wheel 🙂

Round and round and round. Keep people dizzy and in line? Nothing like a nice breeze on your face – from sails or open car window in a pinch. Thanks for raising a sail’s comment

Poor little sail boat. Stuck. I’d rather be rowing my own boat down the stream. Might not go as far as the sailboat in the ocean, but at least I’d be doing something. “Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily. Life is but a dream.”

I’ve always thought charter sailboats must be very anxious. Forced to pay their way and tolerate non-sailors stomping all around. Wearing fading advertisement banners instead of windsocks and sails. Stressed out like rent horses at stables. Charter boats probably dream of reincarnation as a canoe, rowboat, or kayak – anything that gets to flow often in the currents. Thanks for rowing that comment this way. Great one!

Paddling along in my kayak brings immense freedom and a sense of calm. Can’t handle anything bigger as I fear the waves…

It takes such energy, coordination, and nerve to power catamarans off the beach through the surf. You can do that just so long. Large monohulls can be pretty physical unless you have a lot of money for all the gadgets. A nice large mostly quiet lake sounds pretty wonderful…one without gators, please. Waves or gators? Some choice. Thanks for floating by with a comment

Do you have a new theme? I suddenly felt off-balance… maybe it’s just me. Or maybe the blog is listing (as opposed to a blog listing).

Oh, do we ever need fall, with fresh breezes and open windows. It arrives tonight — tomorrow a.m. — about 3:45 or some such. I think I’ll not be awake to greet it, but I’m wondering if it’s like Santa. If we left milk and cookies, would it stop by sooner?

Any boats that do head for the lake at night need to take care. The lighthouse’s light is out! That’s pretty disorienting, too. I had no idea I’d grown so accustomed to it. I hope they paid their bill. 🙂

Does that top picture’s “customhouse” remind you of the “guardhouse” at Waterford Harbor? Must be a set of plans easily purchased. An expected motif?
Oh, my. If mile and cookies are what’s needed, I’ll happily bake a huge batch (and you know my baking skills, so that’s quite an offering.) Molly has perked up on morning walks, so I guess flip flops will have to be traded out for actual shoes now.
The light is out. Wonder if it’s the bill (bridge lights were on last week) or if they dug in the wrong place? Concrete trucks were zooming that way last week….quiet again now. I keep hoping the developer will walk away – his other place isn’t progressing much either. Shame to ruin limited waterfront with poor designs/poor construction/bad planning.
Blue moon eclipse on the horizon – a bit of cool to blow the gnats and mosquitoes out of here would be nice during the viewing. http://abc13.com/news/just-a-few-days-until-we-get-a-supermoon-lunar-eclipse/995501/
Maybe the lighthouse is out so we can see it better? (RC is demanding the appropriate window blinds be left open for her …and the window without screen, too? No? Oh, OK, just the blinds then.) Thanks for swinging by
