Next family of reality stars.
A family that won’t let you forget them – more antics than the Simpsons or the Kardashians.
Hold on for stormy relationships alternating with deceptive warmth. Emotions run deep – and sometimes cruel. One who loves to give others the cold shoulder. And, of course, there’s one hot Mama. (Closely watched by a younger version…)
The Dad should have answered the casting call for “Mad Men”. Serious business
“Get it done now of you’ll be sorry” type. But with style and cool elegance. His entrances never go unnoticed.
Funny, he’s always demanding a coat. Rigid on that. Bet on vacation he cranks the AC in the room down to frigid.
But he loves to party. They must have quite a holiday guest list with their dinner parties being legendary: Druids, elves, Nessie, Snow Miser and his brother – all the old and the interesting.
His family knows underneath that harsh exterior, dear old Dad is the calming influence who sees value in wrapping up in blanket around the glowing fireplace for retelling long ago stories. Family time mandated. He insists – gently – forcing lulling everyone into a warm cozy mood.
Of course the sultry Mom with her blinding beauty.
Quickly revealed as the warm nurturing one who is the most willing to relax and enjoy life. Proof opposites to do attract.
People smile at humorous recollections of her light attitude. Maybe it’s because she nudges everyone towards a healthier lifestyle – encouraging participation in all sorts of sports and outdoor activities.
She does keep the family on a schedule, though. Helps to deal with change.
The teenage twins are as different as night and day.
One is colorful, light and breezy, creating sunny smiles whenever she arrives. Always motivating little gatherings. A light wine on the patio person.
The other crisp, restless, yet warm underneath it all. Loves to cheer along at football games in outdoor stadiums. More of a beer and tailgating fan.
Individual personalities with both sharing some of their parents’ qualities as in any family.
Indulgent Mom, aware of real potential drama, keeps the kids close.
Always on either side of her which seems a little restrictive, but she knows their storms.
A trait, she admits, run on her side of the family. She, herself, can be pushed just so far when things heat up and she spins off in a destructive rage.
The teenagers often seem impatient and unwilling to wait their turn.
Mom knows the pair can cause trouble and confusion with their widely swinging tempers and all their easily given promises.
While known as a delightful source of fresh energy, the two can also be unpredictably moody. But both are well liked and people are always jazzed to see them.
Perhaps seeing value quiet times, contemplating clouds, and lazy day dreaming, Mom’s not above heating up a calculated brownouts to pull the plug on electronic devices.
Mother knows best.
Wonder if she’s consider being a school room mother this year? That would be quite a show.
They’d fit right into any neighborhood:
Old Man Winter, his lovely wife, Summer, and their two children, Spring and Fall.
No doubt you’ll see them turning into your street sometime this year. So get ready.
Seasonally adjusted

Easy, we are partial to the kids around here, too. Molly is smart about the water- she send the visiting large footed German in first before splashing down. They both promise to run over early each morning to look for sharpies…so far only a tired frog (Whom they were not allowed to “chat” with. Staff assisted relocation) Thanks for barking along

love the water bowl!

Large water bowls are apparently like swim suits – they disappear from stores after July 4th. We’ve suddenly been hit with (normal) hot weather, and the sprinkler was only getting bark reviews. Nothing like cooling your heels, says the German. Thanks for filling up this comment bowl

This is wonderful. As I read, I was trying to guess what this family would be, but I didn’t come up with the seasons. Very clever. Love the spring and fall twins.

It’s scorching – so it must be about August. Fevered brains – it’s the only explanation. Glad you got a giggle. Thanks for wading these waters

Wonderful. I had no idea what you were on about with this one! Clever. I’ll never think of the seasons the same way again.

Just goes to show you can’t judge a reality show character by their appearance…or something like that. Glad to give you a smile. Thanks for dropping one of those here.

Maybe that is where I went wrong – I was always better at taking tests than doing homework!

Well, I failed a grade twice for not doing homework as that counted. The fact I passed every test with high marks didn’t seem to matter as much as following the rules! Pshaw on the rules.

Now that’s a foolish thing. If you understand the concepts and can pass the test, why bother…in so many ways the education systems fails and punishes teaching exactly the wrong thing. Brought to you by the same people who keep young minds boxed inside windowless rooms 8 hours a day. Things are a mess for a reason?

They can place back to school sweaters and long sleeves in the stores, but it won’t give them the hint to cut the blasting heat. Sometimes suspect the hot weather stays around just out of spite from feeling rushed off. Thanks for sending a sweltering comment

A story much more interesting than those families you mentioned at the beginning. I can never figure out why they’re famous and don’t really care. Your story was well-season-ed with so many clues and then you sprang the twist on us. (I tried to figure out how to add “spring” and “fall” in there, but as I wasn’t writing in the present tense, I gave up. 🙂

Brilliant. We’re keeping company with Old Man Winter, and I don’t mind his chilly nature but hate that he’s so stingy with the light.

At least summer isn’t throwing a tantrum this year. Things are looking pretty quiet out there. August, then September, and then we all can breathe a little easier — partly because the heat will ease, and partly bcause one of the twins will be knocking on the door.
I don’t know if we’re going to crack 100 today, but there was no staying out there after about 2 o’clock, even in the shade. I’m going to mess around, have an early supper, and then go back out. I figure it ought to be cooling off about midnight. Can I borrow a work light? 🙂

The big Saharan dust storm is here. http://www.weather.com/science/weather-explainers/news/saharan-dust-africa-caribbean-gulf-of-mexico
We could use a bit of rain to settle the stuff out of the air so we could breath easier. Even covering the plants the last few days – sunsets have been getting more and more red. With the heat possible thunderstorms in afternoons, so hang out at home? My lest favorite time of year with it being 87-90’s even at 10 pm.
Actually we do have several great work lights (all that remodeling stuff…we never finished before dark or 9pm…) We deliver, too. (giggles).
Pretty grim out there in this heat. Take care.

Children going hungry. Simply no excuse for that in this country. (or veterans not getting care they were promised). Most school districts in this area have been furnishing free breakfasts and lunches for over 20 years. Many also hand out snacks as the children leave school. This summer any child/family member who shows up at some schools is given lunch free. (Previously people handed out paper bag lunches to kids during the summer months). For the past few years, school parent groups fill backpacks with food and hand them out to kids on friday so the kids will have something to eat over the weekend. Private groups are stepping up locally everywhere. Local groups always do a better job as they have hands on knowledge of what needs to be done and how it is done best. Might be really good if all children were provided 3 meals a day at schools – and cut the food stamps for families with able bodied adults. Adults can just fend for themselves. Make sure the kids are taken care of.
One the question I have is this: why is this country giving out money to other countries when we have children hungry here? It makes no sense – except to a politician or ego driven person who want to pat themselves on the back for being “kind” to those less fortunate—and to “help” those a long way away is more virtuous for some illogical reason.
As the airlines always say “Put the oxygen mask on yourself first, then reach around and help any others who need assistance.” Harsh reality.
Hunger in this country – especially hungry kids – has been a major thing with me for a while.
Very interesting link – everyone should click and read it…and think

Love your take on this! I’m an autumn-baby so perhaps that’s why I prefer fall. Any my GS is particularly excited by water too. We’ve joked about getting her a pool to play in because there are snapping turtles in the pond–and snakes–yikes!!

I am a fall person, too…August with the heat and sun is just endured. It’s just so hot (98-100 with very high humidity) the dogs can’t go out and they get so bored indoors. They can run in the yard very early or right at dark then slosh around and cool off a bit. Molly just flings herself down – it is a bit funny. Snakes are bad, but those turtles can snap a paw off. Voting for pools (which may be on sale as the stores have to move in the backpacks and school supplies)
Thanks for hopping into the comment pool
