Free at last. Free at last. Sort of, Buddy

Golden Retriever. Scott Beckner/Commons.wikimedia.org)

This isn’t Buddy, but no doubt he feels this happy. (Golden Retriever. Scott Beckner/Commons.wikimedia.org)

About 30 minutes ago, Buddy the dog in San Antonio was released to his owners’ veterinarian.

He will stay in the vet’s custody during the appeals process, but his owners will be able to visit with him. His surroundings are bound to be much less stressful and much more comfortable.

Whew. Better, but not over yet.

The “Free Buddy” rally will continue as planned in front of the Alamo at noon on Saturday.

Big paw waves for all those who signed the petition or did anything to assist the Mojica’s efforts to save Buddy.

Small voices and little things do make a difference.

Thanks

Phil, the Philosopher Mouse of the Hedge

Buddy can have visitors now. Feels a little better – now authorities need to quietly resolve the conflict so everyone goes back to watching the NFL and NBA. Thanks for bouncing over

A happy reunion for sure. Now he can have visitors and is in a familiar place…sort of like a halfway house? Paws crossed progress continues. Thanks for joining Buddy’s pack

This is better – now, let’s see if they can bring themselves to give Buddy and his owner the best.

Nothing like the threat of a wheelchair bound protester being hauled off in front of cameras? Will be uneasy until Buddy is actually home. Now the kid’s parents are saying “it’s just about making sure this doesn’t happen to another child”…a bit of parenting and learning how to act around dogs might be in order, too….perhaps a federal grant to educate kids…commercials on TV, lessons in schools…it’s probably being written now? Everyone knows nothing happens until the government gets involved…oh, that’s how this started….talk about the circle of life
      Thanks for snarling along

Little paw steps…but in the right direction.
(Checked on Jade’s status last night – still missing. They are asking for people to keep her name/picture in the news – it looks like an abduction. Working on post for shortly. Thanks for caring)

Pokes may have to be done to keep Buddy smiling, but he’s got some teamwork going for him. Thanks for joining the pack

The rally today in front of the Alamo looked pretty good – lots of TV stations. The owners weren’t there, but are very appreciative of all the help. A concern now is whether the apartment complex will allow Buddy to come home – corp. insurance companies get hysterical about potential risks. I’m not use if it’s public housing (with regulations)/subsidized or not.
(Getting old and feeling helpless is not pleasant.) Fingers crossed the city finds a way to save face and publicity keeps the pressure on them. Thanks for following along

Today’s protest was well attended by people and media. While Buddy and his owners weren’t able to come, they said they were grateful for everyone trying to help. Fingers crossed the appeals process goes quickly and in Buddy’s favor. Thanks for howling for Buddy

The protest got a lot of media attention. At least now maybe Buddy is more comfortable, can have visitors and both he and owners less stressed. Hard to be old and at the mercy of those who don’t really care. Paws crossed on this one.
