Good Gator and Friday Grins
Gotta getta grin today?
What was this guy thinking?
He was running late and decided to beg a lift?
I mean, was the trip taking longer than he expected as he’s a little guy – only 5-6 feet long?
This time of year, time is of the essence.
The early gator gets the pick of the swamp gals.
A “they are expecting me” sort of thing?
So he perched himself by the curb of the Beltway 8 feeder/ side road near Pearland last night.
Putting on his best toothy smile, he waited to be noticed.
It didn’t take long.
The 911 calls came in.
Police parked surrounding him – more to keep the fans away – than to corral him.
(Seriously, that girl in the video says she wanted to pet him? )
So he was content to pose and wait.
Shortly the wildlife people pulled over and loaded him up.
Whisked him off to a gator haven.
Caught a ride.
Not so dumb
All that concrete is hard on the hide.
Who wants to show up rumpled and scrapped up when trying to impress potential dates?
Watch the video: “Alligator Sighting on Beltway 8”
Another grin requested?
Something less combative?
OK. How about Marine tales and waggle tails?
He’s leaving the military life behind – finally.
And reuniting with someone as close as family.
Camp Pendleton officially handed over Sergeant Rex’s leash to Meagan Leavey.
There’s proof!

So gators and grins.
Peace to all.

There sure are a lot of gators down there! Yikes! We still have family in the Beaumont area.
We ate at a place once (I think it’s closed now) called The Boondocks. Sat and watched the gators in the water below the restaurant. Creepy! I know they’re not the same as crocodiles but I kept thinking of Tarzan movies…LOL

Tarzan! I know!…makes you imagine crossing the river by walking from one to another…well, OK, not really..stick to the vines and the trees. Thanks for swinging by

Rex & Megan , i love a happy couple !
The croc is just too funny; I have to admit they freak me out abit because I imagine them as being small left-overs from the dinosaurs.

I think they are like dino hold-overs, too. The alligator pond was always my favorite part of the zoo. Thanks for visiting

This guy has charm. That quite obvious. I mean look at him… handsome. But how can anyone get the idea of petting an aligator? So strange. I love the happy ending of Rex and Meagan’s struggles.

He was quite cute on the TV, like he was just waiting to hitch a ride…but you know those teeth are there hidden by that grin! Glad you stopped by

Great to see that Rex is where he belongs, and, apparently, so is the gator! Keep those children and pets safe down there!

Aww, I think it looks cute too. Think I might have been a bit wary about petting it though. The guy says Critters! Amazing!! My partner tells me the same happened with crocs in Aus (Darwin).
Good news on Rex eh? A little publicity now and again doesn’t do any harm 🙂 Good work all round.
Have a lovely weekend. (Pippa sends his best to The German)

Worry some about the TV viewers who think reality shows are real and want to play with the gators. Best left to the game wardens. Fun to watch from observation decks in the wetland parks, though.
The German to Pippa “Loved your recent interview. It’s been fairly cool recently, so demanding more outdoor walks and play – less blogging…it will be horrid hot soon. Happy Run and Play day to you, Pippa! Big woof!”

Yeah, I do think that one wanting to pet the gator needs a reality check. I guess that’s one of the hazards of nature deficit disorder.
As for Rex, I am SOOOOO happy!

The German: “Hi Rumpy! (bouncing). Really nice weather here – cool enough for lots of dog play.
We have great state parks close so people can safely get familiar with real life and nature…wish the folks would take advantage of them. Nature is just as important as multiple choice work…..or maybe that’s just me?
Glad you stooped by. Hey, pitching you a tennis ball Rumpy – catch!”

You seem to have a lot of alligators down there. Are they dangerous when you don’t try to pet or annoy them?
Good news for Rex! Yay!

The gator guys march around every spring looking for mates. This is a coastal prairie with lots of wetlands and waterways ( real and man made) and those are all pretty good gator highways now because of recent rains. Some of the newer subdivisions have moved into habitats so people have to watch right now for moving gator guys.(and keep pets leashed) They are pretty benign and will avoid humans – if you don’t throw chickens at them (the frozen ones probably hurt). After a while it gets hot and they wander back to the swampy quiet parks and areas. Keeps it interesting.
( and yes, So glad for Rex…probably been driving people nuts about it)
Thanks for hopping by – have a nice Easter!

Even though that gator looks like he’s smiling, I still wouldn’t pet him. I kinda like having all my limbs in tact.
Good for Rex! That’s great news 🙂

That cuteness attraction is why some people actually tell their kids to go stand by the bear so they can get a picture. Forget it’s not Disneyland? Thanks for swimming by
