RC Cat: Notes from the bunker

two women. 1921 film lobby card. (USPD. pub.date, artist life/Commons.wikimedia.org)

“Dunderhead. You promised it was only for a little while. That the piece of the Realm would not be disturbed. That creature is still here and have you noticed the muddy trail in the Outer Realm that those two dogs have installed without permission?” (USPD/Commons.wikimedia.org)

It’s come to pass: The fishy stink.

Inevitable.

The guest soon sheds not only endless hair, but also any inhibitions normally leashed by non-resident insecurity.

That long nosed German Shepherd, Ella, is still mooching visiting.

We feel mislead. Only a short term foster situation was visa-ed. Not forever squatting.

The nerve of the too comfortable!

Ella mentioned she’d had some training. We suspect she was suggesting ballet dancing and is trying to impress us with her cultured ballerina toe poses…probably copied from a book in Our library. She carries her weight far back on her foot and ankles. Sadly, no hope of en pointe with those. (© image)

Have you ever seen such toes? No wonder German Shepherds are known for their ability to open doors…which worries Us a bit. We peek under the door and spot these frequently.(© image)

That the Ella has forgotten her status and Our benevolence is clearly shown by her behavior at the border fence to Our suite of rooms.

TO slip silently beside the fence and then, bark suddenly, loudly, as We stroll on Our way to the sunny window is unforgivable.

The unexpected verbal assault was so intense We, trained in self defense, rolled awkwardly with skill under the desk. Our fur was mussed Oh, that fur clump was due to be ejected anyway, but We have the right to decide when and where Our fur tumbleweeds are discarded.

The Ella shoved her long pointy nose over the top until We lunged forward, raising The Paw in warning.

With spit flying great restraint and royal dignity reminded her of the last time she shoved that snoot over a fence where it didn’t belong. Being kind of spirit We are reluctant to point out the scars on her muzzle where that little dog latched on that time. Apparently Our stern warning shocked her back into visitor demeanor long enough for Us to exit the viewing overlook area.

Even Our own RC-in-training, The Molly, is showing signs of sleepover weariness.

She misses being able to pile all her toys up on the couch and watching “Lucky Dog” with them.

Currently, as The Molly tends to be toy protective snarly  careful with her toys, those are all stashed on her bed in Our suite of rooms.

Staff is quite vigilante about not allowing any of that “Look what I have aren’t you jealous” toy waving over the border fence. The past couple of days The Molly has requested toy visiting hours and a nap mid day.

“Hey another day of being stuck inside because to of 100F heat. Maybe we should practice our chorus line tap dancing and high kicks? Gymnastics with the footstool as a pommel horse? Jousting tournament?” (© Image)

As it would be inappropriate to encourage her, We and staff both had to conceal laughter at this morning’s ploy by The Molly to send Ella out of sight and mind.

After much bouncing, puppy bowing, and inviting barks, Molly managed to get Ella charged up and ready to play. They both ran enthusiastically toward the back door which Staff has learned to open quickly to protect the wood from scratches even with dogs painfully dancing on her feet.

The Molly uncharacteristically stepped aside to let her guest charge out first, then once the annoying little friend  was through the threshold, The Molly turned, ran the opposite direction, and flung herself on the couch with a big smile on her face.

Husky/Malamutes laugh at their own jokes. We have tried to explain it is not a becoming habit, but they are what they are: a breed of comedians who think everyday is a Saturday Night Live episode.

We have suggested to Staff that Our meal schedule would be more on schedule  that there would be less hair to sweep up and more time for other entertainments – perhaps mousie soccer, for instance, – if Ella would go on to where ever she is going to go.

Staff sighed and said that will happen when it happens.

Meanwhile we must remember Ella’s Person sheltered all of this Realm during hurricanes and the power outages afterward. So it is nice to reciprocate since we can.

True, but We silently agreed: three days are up and the fishy is a little stinky.

Bravely We carry on.

“This is Our brave face. You might think fishy stink would appeal to a cat, but no. Not the long over due guest departure kind. Didn’t anyone think to see if she had a return ticket?” (© image)

Of course, tribute cans of salmon or tuna make it more tolerable. Make Us smile.

You do wish that, yes?

You wish Us to note your compassionate commiseration, yes?

Then don’t forget to leave the tribute of an open can of food in the doorway.

Audience fini

Staff! Move them along. They are dawdling.

Do not allow them to gawk at the dog hair tumbleweeds. We have a reputation to keep.

The Paw has waved!

Adieu, Mon chéri

RC Cat “Well, you can always go into landscaping and construct mud trails? Apparently no experience is necessary and neither are construction permits. We wish mild weather suitable for outdoor play find you two soon…for the sake of your Staff. An encouraging paw salute sent in solidarity!”

OhMyGosh, I am laughing! That fish stink is unmistakable and we know it well. Never move near a beach… peeps that barely gave you a nod say they miss you and come to visit/stay. We get a whiff of the fish stink even before they arrive. The nose knows!

RC Cat ” Yes,yes. Sometimes one must chuckle to avoid chocking on the outrage. Beware of the hair tumble weeds as you depart…there is no telling what was crushed and run over in the Outer Realm by those two. A cheery paw wave as you wander on your journey.”

Ella’s toes crack me up. They look remarkably like the toes of my pet squirrel. Believe me, that critter could put those toes to work when he wanted into or out of something. It never occurred to me that a German could pull the same tricks, but she clearly comes equipped for trouble-making!

RC Cat, “It is unsettling. Staff has scoffed at any suggestion of hand transplant experiments, yet look at those fingers/toes. No match for The Paw, though. A thoughtful head bump for your astute observation that reinforces Our hunch.”
