Synapses of the stars

Woman in toga.Stage actress Olga Nethersole. Theater program Dec 1898. (USPD. pub.date, artist life/Harvard Theatre Collection/Houghton Library (USPS, pub.date, artist life/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Seriously, just what do I have to do to get your attention?(USPD/ Commonswikimedia.org))

Getting harder and harder for a star to be seen.

Even with outrageous, out-of-this-world videos

Before it was the big city lights that got the blame.

Now technology over-wash pulls the wool over. Dims it all.

Even being green is no guarantee of notice.

Zubeneschamali has tried, but it’s not easy being green. Some simply won’t allow.

Dancing in the dark – best chance.

Easy to forget which way is up sometimes.(© image)

Away from civilizations’ dust-ups, car lots, and buildings holding back the night

Dark sky showing expansive bright.

Not just the impressive star light sight –

The delight of insignificance – of being one tiny, among the vast.

Fade to black the mundane, the pettiness, all society’s gasps

Starry Starry Knights, we were blinded by the lite.

Flights of light footin’

Phil, the Philosopher Mouse of the Hedge

Oh, just totally in the dark and stringing you along a little bit more:

Held society’s reins for years. Reign over, it seems. Snappy, these:

  • When attending social functions, avoid these topics: money, religion, or politics (Luckily, obsessive texting has taken care of this as people rarely actually look up from their phones and engage in face to face conversations these days.)
  • Make sure brain is in gear before mouth is in motion (Please, Commissioner Ellis, this isn’t “deep in the heart of Dixie” – Never was; Never will be.  Do you even know where you are? The “reddest”? Uh, locally? Among your constituents? Uh, once again, do you know…)
  • Better to be silent and thought a fool rather than to open mouth and remove all doubt. (There is no “I” in “team”, Megan Rapinoe – but you found the “M” and “E”, right? me.me.me.me. Loved your thoughts about yourself there.)
  • If you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all. (If only…)
  • Little minds talk about people; Big minds talk of ideas. (String Theory anyone? And that’s not about bikini fashions…)

Lights out.

On the other hand, Alice Roosevelt Longworth may have gotten it right when she said, “If You Can’t Say Something Good About Someone, Sit Right Here by Me.”

Best one ever! Life was much more interesting with those who knew how to tweak society’s conventions with style and grace. Thanks for setting the table with that one.

Ha! So many people now talk and talk about themselves, there’s no need to bother talking about them HaHa!
Food for thought…hmm, that tasty topic may create big minds and stomachs, too…soon the government will put a warning label or outlaw that. Stock the pantry now! Thanks for adding a 5 star comment!

    They’ll be locking you up and throwing away the keys you keep on at that poor commissioner; perhaps he applied for a job as a commissionaire, spelt it wrong and got stuck with the commissioners job;
    he’d go well at Walmart

Far too many have no trouble rearranging facts so they appeal to an audience..they just get on a roll and the words blurt out sounding authoritative….sadly, it seems those often get elected to offices. Walmart has “standards” (and employees are not able to steal or take money under the table to give some people advantages over others)
