Calling wanderers and those who count

A dog approved, best gift ever – just for you. Right in time for the weekend

It’s a contest – like a scavenger hunt: Which city can find the most nature?

“Has Amazon has taken over Santa’s job? It’s never-ending Christmas with all the boxes. I smell hint of pine with a touch of recycled paper. Makes you long for the true forest experience.” (© image)

2019 City Nature Challenge starts Friday April 26 and ends April 29.

It’s all about people in 160 cities on six continents to see who can spot the most species, document their local, urban biodiversity, and get the most people involved. (Find your city’s info here.)

History of how the contest began here.

Watch the dynamic leaderboard here.

Think of it as Nature’s census.

Gotta know what you’ve got to figure out how to take care of them, right?

There’s a mobile app for citizen scientists and naturalists that makes it easy here.

Stop by to watch a short video to find out more about the world’s most popular nature app at iNaturalist.org

Then try it out: record what you find, let experts help you identify, add to scientific data, and join a community of naturalists.

If you ever need an excuse to go outside, here it is!

Don’t forget to take the dog.

Enough storms already, sigh. Molly is going to run in the fields with friends ( she hope the swim pond is open) but she’ll be miffed about the bath she’s gonna get afterwards – so much mud from the storms a couple of days ago.
Maybe we can get the towels all cleaned and dry for the next deluge. Stay as dry as possible while practicing dog paddling. Paw waves, thanks, and have a nice weekend

Don’t dogs do this every day? I thought they were responsible for finding all the good stuff!

If only dogs would stop dictating and depending on humans to record the data! (and stop being distracted by the exact same bad of grass each time out) Thanks for playing along

Once people started looking, they found nature is everywhere – even in cities. It looks like a very cool social media group to be part of. Thanks for counting in for comments
