Out of tune. Sum mess

Knew math

Lesser than. Greater than. Equal, too.

When there’s matter to sneeze at, none of that matters.

Add the invasion across the border: that smoke from the annual burning of agricultural fields in Mexico, to all of nature in glorious, powdery pollen overload already in at extreme levels…

Factor in that a huge dust cloud headed this way from New Mexico/Arizona

Troubling some.

Me? A complex calculation as I have the cold from you-know-where. (Wonder if WP would zap me if I actually use that word. You have to be so careful these days. Cold world.) Entire staff has the cold from you-know-where.

All part of the equation after going to the doctor for a simple Wellness Check-up.

The irony. (That’s a measured response.)

RC Cat sees no reason services should be delayed or substandard, of course.

This post sounds like caterwauling? Naturally. RC cat is auditioning entertainment as she is bored with Staff’s wheezing off-key and coughing out of rhythm during counterpoint.(USPD/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Don’t have to be a math wiz to count the number of local weekend events I’m going to miss:

  • 2019 Art Car Parade. Delightful chaos, fantasy and enchantment on wheels. Unlike the mutant vehicles at Burning Man, Art Cars must be street legal and are frequently daily drivers for their owners. Several caravans of art cars are making the rounds to local school  – to encourage creativity as well as mechanical, logical, and practical thinking. (Official Houston Art Car Parade’s list of events and some peeks of the cars/parties. Watch a video of the parade here on May 5th) I always love the peacock car with the tail on the rear that opens and closes.
  • Japan Festival at Hermann Park and around the reflection pond. There’s going to be a tea ceremony in the Japanese Garden azumaya. The Sake Village is returning, too. (Daiginos, nigori and sake-tails all ready and waiting). I was really looking forward to trying on the Samurai headdress (video with it here) All sorts of fun: astronaut, explore the possibility of teaching in Japan, arts and crafts like making lanterns, and of course martial arts demonstrations. Jfest has been happening for 26 years. Hermann Park‘s a cool place anytime with lots to explore besides the zoo and little train circling the park.  Dog parks being added soon!
  • 2019 Willow Waterhole Music Fest is tuning up with blues, jazz, Latin, rock, R & B, Cuban – you hum it, they’ll have it. The Willow Waterhole Greenway is a 291 acre hidden gem of a park in SW Houston which was created by Harris County Flood Control and US Army Corp of Engineers as major flood control with dual purpose. (video about the music and festival here)
  • Uh is hosting Long String Instrument composer as part of this year’s CounterCurrent Festival which is always eclectic. Count on thinking way out of the box with a seriously strung out performance by Fullman.

Sounds like a good note to stop on.

Hope your weekend is cool in a good way.

(Count me out of anything where sneezy interludes are measured by scowls.)

Sorry you feel so lousy. Sorry that RC isn’t more sympathetic. Perhaps she’ll share a catnip mousie with you. If that doesn’t make you sneeze, nothing will!

Sorry you’re all not feeling well. The list of things you’ll miss makes me even sadder for you. Hopefully you’ll all be back in shape soon!

Not feeling great here, too. Allergies not head cold. Nonetheless, I’ll commiserate with you. Our weekend will be a dull one, I fear. Well, actually I’m looking forward to it. *pass the tissues*

That’ll teach you to go to the doctor. There’s nothing more dangerous to health than doctor’s offices and hospitals! That’s why I stay on the dock — less needs for the doc.

Oh dear, that sounds really dire. Hope your cold from you know where soon clears up. Nothing worse than a sneezy, sniffly weekend. You have my sympathy over all the exciting activities you’ll be missing. 😰

    Oh, gosh. (((((((hugs)))))))
Cats don’t care. They just don’t. They notice, of course, especially when sneezes explode around them. But they don’t care. Members of Staff must perform, no excuses.
I hope your weekend is lovely and fun in its own special way!

Feel better soon! Colds ruin lives for days on end.

I’m feeding a neighbor’s cat for a week, and the cat longs for companionship more than food! She meows at me, rubs my legs, leads me to her bowl, watches me put food in it, takes one or two bites, and follows me until I leave the house. If I had time, I would take a book and sit with her for an hour or so.

I’m sorry to hear that, Phil! I take Cold-eze when I feel like I’m coming down with something. It can get confusing for me this time of year with clouds of pollen about!

I dread going out in public for the same reason you sighted going to the clinic for that wellness checkup… germs, bacteria, viruses are everywhere. Of course there’s the pollens blowing all over too, which doesn’t help. And of course RC has no empathy! The world does not revolve around you after all…

Hope you and the rest of the Staff are feeling better soon! Thankfully, Houston will come up with more ways to educate, entertain, and expose you to new/wonderful things (excluding pollens, smoke, and germs, though those offerings will still be available) as you begin to emerge back out into the world.
