Beauty knows

Girl and two boys. Children. TV Show The Montefuscos, NBC (USPD pub.photo, pub.date/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Your parents always say you’re perfect. Wishful thinking…(USPD/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Normally pain, blood, and swelling are something most want to avoid, and after this experience, it’s a complete mystery why anyone would be so nose focused that they would voluntarily go for a reshape.

I know The German would be disappointed in me.

She did her best to prepare me to step into the RC position of the household before she went on. Sigh. She’d say I got what I deserved sticking why nose in where it didn’t belong, but I know she’d be even more disappointed in the fact that I left the side of The One at the Other End of the Leash – even if it wasn’t Person -, left the designated path, and even led another into danger at the fence belonging to the small bitie faces.

And my elegant nose now mangled.

Of course I can’t really see how it looks …when I try getting cross-eyed makes my head hurt all the way to the tips of my ears….which is a looong hurt.

Rocky won’t reply if I ask him (But I see his happy smirk that he avoided not only the ouchies, but the shaming.) Scooby, my partner in this crime and stitches, simply says, “You’ll always be beautiful. Is it Ok if I cram my way and hang off your bed edge a bit join you in a comforting cuddle and keep Little Person at bay from trying to help by loaning you his trucks?”

Beauty. Such a thing to worry about. So fickle and fleeting.

Some say Nature designed it so each is beautiful at one time during life when it is needed the most. For some, it’s very young – to charm and secure place and home early because there’s not much chance later as other attributes become important or necessary; for some it’s when older as confidence and self-image are already established – like extra credit; for others, it’s in old age – possibly to attract the young so they will listen more closely or as a reward for a life well lived.

Scooby, the most quiet Yoda type, says, “Ella, all I see is beauty when I see you.” Once you know really someone, accept and love them as they are, you only see them as wonderfully beautiful – no matter what.

Molly Malamute said that when she first arrived, battered and low, Staff told her “Life is for learning. If you don’t have scars, you aren’t living. Blemishes inside and out are to be worn proudly – to show you were able to gather courage, strength, and walk on more wise.”

I, Ella Bella, am beautiful still.

I am The German’s chosen successor and I shall be worthy of this RC of the Realm title!

And please, Santa, I was only a little bad, OK?

For Kodak the dog it’s blue skies now.

That is a beautiful portrait, there at the end. Glorious, really. Here’s hoping the healing detracts not a whit, but adds a bit of character. Of course, most of us hope the same for ourselves. As I like to say, I’ve earned these gray hairs and wrinkles — just don’t expect me to tell you all the stories!

It never hurts to have a little cosmetic surgery done while they are in there anyway! May the nose heal perfectly!
