Observation post extraordinaire

Quiet time relished.

The Molly is Malamuting in the Outer Realm. Sent to scout out any Veggie Invaders.

Although early reports indicate a massive spider web draping a yard at the front of the neighborhood may be entrapping unfortunates who roll in there.

And then at the other end is the massive airport runway bright orange light display that may act as a veggie magnet and draw them in like a bug zapper. Once trapped perhaps they can become pies, smoothies, or casseroles.

If The Molly chooses to chatter with the squirrels or Blue Jays, it better be concerning reconnoissance.

Staff has begun traditional rituals of The Season of Freshening:

Fluffing flannel wrappers for bed. Digging out shoes that cover toes. Lint rolling cat hair off long pants and sleeves that have been hanging like summer’s vines across Our closet loft.

Scraping sounds on the patio. The promise of salmon on the grill.

Welcome. Welcome. Season of the Freshening.

But being overwhelmed by the wonderfulness is no excuse

Don’t forget to leave the tribute of an open can of food in the doorway.

What? Well, you may leave another.

It is the season to curry favor  share one’s plentiful bounty.

The paw is waving. Again.

Adieu, mon cher.

we will bring on the flannel stuff this weekend too… although it is still summerish… but tradition is tradition, right?

Being the beach towel stack we discovered 2 blankets – who knew?
Maybe we’ll lure a bit of cool in with preparations…just a little bit would be fine…deep freeze not requested at this time.
Paw waves and have a great weekend Weims!

AC off, windows open, fleece blanket on the bed. Check, check, and check. The only thing missing now is Dixie Rose, who would have rejoiced in that open window even more than I do.

If RC is in need of an extra lizard or two, let me know. I can provide them.

Rejoicing is the word. You never forget their look of enchantment with nose to the wind.
Coolest morning since first of April…nothing to some but fabulous to us! (Beware…we say RC dash off to get post it notes when she heard of your offer)

Many (most) of our windows have either a small cushioned bench in front or a towel to put on the windowsill so delicate cat heineys are comfy! Glad to see you share that tradition. Morgan (the cat) likes to take her breakfast al fresco in the screened porch. It was chilly this morning. I received a stinkeye for that.

So far the gloves have been approved by both window lovers. Fingers crossed another complete tear off and window sill repair job will not be needed. Molly’s heavy paws and nervous jaws took such a toll that even the cat was worried about splinters. All summer we waited and waited for a good paint day – at least one with no rain and temps lower than swelter and roast…gave up on humidity levels being helpful for paint.
Cats are so annoyed when we do not provide the desired weather and temperatures…mutters of “staff is so hard to train…”

I identify so strongly to all the lint rolling of cat hair on all the clothes not worn for a season (all clothes for that matter…two Maine Coons in the house). Love the perch!!

In our old neighborhood, there were a suspicious similarity between numerous kittens and a large show quality Maine Coon that was skilled at escaping his owners as he wished. RC, like a high profile senator, claims a heritage of distinction. Nothing like a cat who knows his/her worth.

I am getting just a little weary of trying to retrieve lizards from the clutches of cats’ claws. Why can’t they just stay outside in the sun?

They’re not prepared to let go of summer yet. Still hoping if they hang around on the windows the sun will burst out warm and strong again.

That wiggling is disturbing…wonder if it’s designed as a distracting element so the lizard can escape the paws? Or they are just litterer lizards. (Run guys, run!)

      Having dined on many mosquitos all summer the lizard ones are bulked up and ready for the chase! RC is so kind to offer entry into the Realm due to all the rain and falling temperatures….staff is a bit concerned about all the falling over scrambling animals. Hope there’s some sun up your way.     That’s one thing missing in Australia, the change of seasons. Only in Tasmania do they have seasonal changes as you do, up here in NSW there’s very little difference winters are bit colder than autumn which is just a bit cooler than summer;
It’s hard to tell the difference between spring and autumn, the only trees that shed their leaves are those that were imported early on from Europe; our gum trees are pretty much the same year round. I suppose you cou;d say it’s pretty damned boring here when it comes to seasons.

Most of the trees here retain leaves – palms, oaks shed in 24 hrs in the spring as new leaves show up instantly. Not much seasonal coloring except in the sky. Only mildly changing weather has it’s benefits!
      Thanks for adding seasonal comment

Felines love the fresh air (as RC demonstrates on the throne) – but flannels in Galveston?

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 16 2018 5:45 pm

Flannels are perfect for winter here – wool is simply too hot for me. Flannel also feels more cozy in the chilly seasonal drizzle. Although we did have snow our first Christmas here, usually if we get snow, it’s around Valentines. Jan-Feb are cold enough…prefer not to have to worry about the occasional sleet.
So this time of year, it’s greatly appreciated to have windows open during the day and not be sweltering…now if it would just stop drizzling…

The fairy tale pumpkins are in a mash up over leadership with the nuts, corn stalks, and spiders (who like to tie things without warning).
In any case, the field mice are gleefully watching. Thanks for relaying potential veggie warnings in a comment
