Spotted: X

Dog. Ella sprawled out on couch. (© Image copyrighted, all rights reserved, NO permissions granted)

Exactly: an X marks the spot – like on a treasure map. (© Image)

A dog nose at the front gate is as good as a light left on in the window. Some hope.

“One’s personal tragedies must be set aside for the good of a Realm, ” RC Cat chides.

Out of concern for Ella’s grieving, moping, and not eating, (and possibly fearful that her own staff will offer to keep Ella here with Molly) RC Cat approached Ella’s Person with a suggestion: consider a pet/apprentice/reinforcement an associate for Ella.

Meaning there are squirrels needing chasing. If not stopped soon, they’ll be knocking at the door with union reps demanding better acorns and prefab nests.

Those midget canines next door need to be told to get back inside until they can muster a decent bark and their hair grows back covering that bare skin…an embarrassment for entire species.

Barks need echoing. Doggy talk line gossip, forwarded. Warnings that firetrucks are coming – get out off the street! (Except squirrels, maybe…)

RC Cat. "We do not ask this for Ourselves. (© Image: All rights reserved, copyrighted, no permissions granted)

“We do not ask this for Ourselves. Really. Any benefit is purely coincidental.” (© Image)

So the Pet Vacancy signal was sent out to the Universe

Which quickly responded.

A dog of despair surrendered to the shelter without any luggage just hours before the notice’s posting. (See below – exactly where is that invisible “Vacancy here” switch button?)

After a meet and greet with Person and LP (her little person), an invitation to become Ella’s Partner in Paw was extended.

A much anticipated welcoming party waiting as soon as the paperwork and mandated stitch work tied up.

Like a beacon on an airport runway, Ella eagerly marks the end destination.

RC Cat seems confident another lump of reinforcement  a companion forming a dynamic duo will fill the void.

“… a little chaos perhaps, but whatever – it ain’t here.”

“….and besides, it’s only way to make sure that Ella doesn’t end up here as Molly’s pet – No vacancies here in my Realm! None! None! NONE!”

Odd thing, though.

The cat keeps stomping down her hall muttering something like ,”Nun, nun, nun”.. .

Staff doesn’t think she is calling for clergy…

Wonderful blog! I love your writing style but I have questions! Did you loose a pet? If so, my condolences. Are you rescuing another as a friend for a pet that lost a good friend? If so, congrats! I hope it works beautifully! I look forward to following.

Ella is a (grown) kid’s dog who we keep on occasion. (her first post here: She was brought in as a companion dog to The German (who was quite massive and elegant even in retirement. We fostered her at times when Person was transferred and needed time to set things up, or she needed RR and rest from stressful situations and environment – and a sheltered hiding place until those looking to harm her were neutralized. She left us not long ago – leaving her rescued friend Ella totally despondent. (One of the first posts about The German:
Notice (with lovely German pictures) that hospice is being prepared for The German.
Here’s one of her last posts:
      And her memorial:
Now I’ve got a partial list in place. Thanks for making me do that.
Welcome – just remember to always bring a sense of humor and that things here are often not as they appear HAHA!
      Thanks for running by

For the longest time, I’ve been meaning to give The German her own tab – so many tails. Maybe I’ll get to that soon.
Intrigues with your journals and primary source senior. (My dad’s family tended to live past 100yrs, too.) As the youngest of my generation, most of the really old elders had already passed on except for one grandmother who was ancient, but quite active, traveled, and lived on her own. (She didn’t need women’s lib, to give her directions- made her own path – as she taught us to also). She left me with her pages of dilated stories from her grandmother and the journals of immigrating from VA to the MX territory of Texas where they became Catholic, immediately learned Spanish as required to become MX citizens. Journals are a real treasure trove – such a chance to read how life was live. People now do not appreciate how easy life is.
Looking forward to wandering among your words!

There are many published writers in the family. A few stories posted in this blog; used to share many of them with upper secondary school kids on some of their special studies/special events occasions. History is merely stories passed down…there should be more used in schools to make it all real.

There is nothing I could agree more with. I used a passage in one of my History classes and it was highly successful!

Grandmother was a historical advisor on the John Wayne Alamo movie. Santa Ana was put on the wrong color horse in the movie. She had documented resource. Most unhappy about that mistake – “people tend to believe and remember what they see in movies” she used to say.

inter-species relationships are more complicated than they seem to us at first, but I’m happy for your friends on four feet that they have such a benign dictator to deal with. Can’t help but love each one of them when seeing them through your eyes… and that’s all the bark that I can summon on this late evening.

As fast as habitats vanish – and creatures learn, best to try and get along because winter of various types is coming: a place sought for everyone and everyone tucked into their places. Dogs and cats, while called “laser creatures” hold few grudges and most show a loyalty, honesty, and compassion humans might try to emulate. (But the dogs and cat have stage images to maintain, …like professional wrestlers?) We’re waiting for news if the new one has arrived today – and how the introductions went. No doubt some stories being begun there. Thanks for marking this spot with a comment

Has a new name been selected? Probably not. It takes a bit of time to know what the right one is. Such excitement — and I’m all in with RC. It’s very important that the primary bonding take place… uh… over there.

HRH RC Cat is rather magnanimous and allows a cat or two to patrol the outer realm at night…she calls them the “poor unfortunates who are left to wander in the dark instead of sleeping on their Staff”…and she can ignore their existence at night…day time they must all go home…or face The Paw at the window. Fearsome! Thanks for touring this place
