Wishes and wheel wonders

Well, the trial wish produced, so all hope isn’t gone – even if Christmas is.

As they say, if wishes were dogs then how they would run.

With the unexpected early snowfall before Christmas, Molly Malamute was sure the current vehicle discussions would pull in her direction: a sled.

After all she is a sled dog who has kept true to her heritage by hauling us trippingly over sidewalk and grass.

But it’s not the same.

A savvy pup, she dug in, search and rescue style, and came up with the following:

Car. Comparison between Camaro and Santa's sleigh. (permission by GMpartscenter.net)

  • “No one has managed to take the sleigh down the quarter-mile, but it’s estimated to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 1/32 of a millisecond. The Camaro might as well not bother showing up…” (Molly thought that would easily sway the gearhead in the house.)
  • Read the full comparative analysis and article here.
  • Santa only uses the sleigh one night a year, and finely tuned racing vehicles need to blow it out at top speeds year round to keep things working properly. Molly promises to stay out of ditches. Mudding is really not her thing.
  • Still a red convertible’s top down experience might be considered. Maybe a Mustang – as animal kingdoms like to herd together. And no, she is not going to crouch in the luggage tray of a Corvette – even if that golden retriever is willing to. (He looks desperate to go along.) Molly would insist on dignity and riding shotgun…or front seat passenger lap.)

Racing to the end of the year,

Phil, the Philosopher Mouse of the Hedge

I’ll bet Santa’s sleigh has no carbon emissions, either! Best holiday love to you, Molly, and the rest of the critters (including Bob)!

A great way to stay jolly all year – who could help it with daily jingle bells and that sleigh? Thanks for driving by to chat and New Year’s cheers to you

One to two cookies per house sounds much cheaper than gasoline, so I’ll take the sled please. 😁

Molly is one smart dog, I have decided. A thought on your quote, “if wishes were dogs then how they would run.” I might switch ‘run’ to ‘wag.’ Then they might be more measurable such as a two-wish-wag or a whopping 10-wish-wag. Anyway, Phil, here’s wishing you a Happy 2008! –Curt

I would happily take Molly and the sled over the icy roads we have right now. We have plenty of snow for her (and meat)
