Not well rounded.

Why can’t they do anything about it?
Could if they wanted. A man walked on the moon.

vintage race car. ca.1920 Leyland-Thomas. (USPD.pub.date/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Look. Wheels are not a complicated form. If they can colorize old movies, they can get the spin right if they wanted to. (USPD/Commons.wikimedia.org)

So why don’t they get the wheels of vehicles on tv to spin in the direction they do in real life. Reel life tire rotation boggles the mind, causes queasiness in some, and distracts from important messages in the commercial – like how many cup holders there are.

Make it some sort of techie /video/camera engineering challenge.

If anyone really cared about accuracy, that would be fixed. Fake news.

Are you one of those people who keeps food in the plate in separate corners and don’t like to mix them?

I’m like that about sports.

Mind bobbles right now with basketball (Rockets up 2), baseball (Astros ahead in their division), the Texans football team is gearing (Even their cheerleaders squad is back in practice and public appearance mode) and both Houston’s soccer teams are up and running (Dynamos and Dash).

It’s like the story of the “Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe” with too many children. Can’t focus full attention on any of them. Neglect happens.

What happened to “there is a season, turn, turn, turn” to that season’s sport?

vintage basketball players during a game. US Air Force cadets. Before 1973. from AF Academy archives (USPD.by fed. employee, pub.date/Commons.wikimedia.org)

See. The cheerleaders are already jumping. Oh, wait. These are players of a different sort. Confused by the uniforms. (1973  USPD/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Rushing before time. Jamming things together is problematic.

Look what happened with the holidays.

Christmas in the stores along side of Halloween just down the aisle from New Years’s and Valentines.

Worrisome precedent. Why not just have your choice of holidays whenever you want – so it benefits your schedule.

President’s Day (better combined 2 in 1) is much more convenient here.. or here. Cinco de Mayo or 4-20 are hard to shift, but some aren’t date specific. Look. even St. Patrick would agreed a weekend works.

Could this mixed up Calendar-Sports Correspondence possibly be the cause of Seasonal Affective Disorder?

Oh, well. The change of seasons and passage through the calendar year may soon only be known by the color of the leaves and weather…if anyone is able to turn stiff necks and glazed, red, over-worked eyes away from screens head to notice.

Seems really backwards, right?

Solutions, like X Files’ answers, are out there. (But unless it they get picked up on a viral video, they will remain a mystery.)

Got game.

I worked with a gal once whose food items could not touch each other and she used a different fork or spoon for each item. If that wasn’t strange enough, she took a break or two during the meal to go outside and have a quick smoke. She never had dessert. She claimed sugar was the devil and bad for your health. Whatever blows your skirt up is good with me. We all operate differently. 🙂

Whoa. It must take her forever to eat, but dieticians say eating slowly keeps you from getting fat.
As you say, live and let live. We make our own reality. Luckily on the plate of life, there’s a place for each and each can have a place.

I don’t mind my food touching, but I absolutely refuse to even look at anything Christmasy before the Thanksgiving meal is over out of principle.

Sorting and grouping can become obsessive. Easier to enjoy food on a plate than the entire spectrum of sports mania all at the same time. Simply can’t keep up the spirit.

Between everything coming at us in all directions in the physical world and the constant online noise 24/7, it’s a wonder we’re not all blubbering masses of goo by now. Some days I just want to shout, “Enough, already.” So I grab a book and retreat outside to my tiny deck (weather permitting). Usually does the trick. 🙂

Great time of year for decks, books or swings by the lake. Upper 80’s and last chance for yard work before baking heat and mosquitoes. Sports overload and media noise even makes trimming trees look more fun. Cheers for a fine retreat. Thanks for spinning a comment this way

I know I’m the old lady who lives by the “Shoo!” but that’s what I do. I’ve just shooed a good bit of it away. With no social media in my life, no constant checking of texts or tweets, and no phone at all out on the docks. posts like this are like bulletins from a very strange planet. We don’t have to listen to the online noise — or any noise — 24/7. We’re still in control, if we want to be — which you very well know, and practice beautifully.

As for those wheels — here’s my very fav about what goes round and round.

Ah, HA! but we know you sneak a peek at tweets and police tweets/reports…that’s a different game all together – what players…
🙂 we love things that go round…except Zika…which is on the No Travel To list since Dec. case.
Have you been watching that “bike path/sidewalk” on Egret? They’ve been going round on that massive project for how many months? And all the time there was that nice vintage bridge there (which I need to get a pix of before it removed to destroy the evidence.)
Big school level robotic competition for a couple of days. Might have head to that round up.

My food can mix. But my sports need to be separated, as do my blouses from my skirts. And holidays? Don’t even try to make me listen to Christmas music before December 5.

When sports collide, team colors can clash – if two teams are playing (basketball and baseball recently) which spirit colors do you wear – what if the one you choose is the opponents’ team colors for the other sports? Could cause chaos if you show up at the wrong party.
      Modern life is too complicated.

I like my stuff in distinct seasons. Otherwise it’s chaos! Although I’ll mix anything with mashed taters.

It just seems so orderly to have everything sorted into their separate space/time.
Taters do enhance everything. (But stuff like beets need to keep their juices to themselves)
Plate policing is exhausting, though unless you’re a kid. Or finicky cat…it cannot look weird or different for RC

The crossing of the sport seasons bothers me. Seriously, why is there going to be basketball and hockey well into summer?

I agree about the sports. There’s no difference since you can find any sport all the time now. That’s why they have 25 different ESPN channels, right?

The calendar of sports is directly tied to whatever television wants. Since TV writes the checks we will continue to have bloated seasons with games out-of-season. Considering our flowers here came out in mid-February maybe when these various sports play their games isn’t quite as relevant as before? Global warming and climate change certainly have us all on our toes. And speaking of being on our toes…if NBC decides ballroom dancing would help their Olympic ratings I am confident there would be a spot suddenly opened up on an Olympic schedule down the road. Winter or summer event? Hmmm.

Climate change might be a positive thing: with an ice age return, August football might be less of a killer (literally at the public school level) and with cool being more cheery for the fans in the stands…the people, not the folded pages as people desperately try to wave and create a breeze.

Yes; why must everything bleed into everything else? Why must we have access to everything all the time. Seasons and events and exciting instances of all kinds now come with a countdown, a lead-up week, a post-event analysis, and it’s time to do it all over again. There isn’t a season for everything anymore (even the seasons) but there ought to be. This brought out the cranky old dame in me.
