RC Cat: Boxing and Costuming

Fairy Princess and little boy. A. Smedberg's" Wishes from 'Among pixies and trolls' "/ artist J Bauer Snaevar /US PD: reprod of PD art, expired copyright, artist life+70/Commons.wikimedia.org)

We called Uber for an escort, but oddly they slammed the phone down and said they weren’t that kind of company. (USPD/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Uber shall regret this.

Yes, yes, the hall is small, but it is fraught with hazards. Littered with danger.

Your shoes are closed toe and washable, yes? Good. We grant you the opportunity to attend Us.

Staff seems to be ignoring unable to hear Our neverending demands  requests. Still, it shall be easy to location them by this trail of crumbled lumps.

NO! Do not touch that! Kick it aside.

Oh, look not offended. It is a kindness.

Not snowy fluff thoughtfully tossed for Our amusement. Instead disgusting soggy tissues dropped everywhere as if by a crazed flower girl in a wedding.

Staff’s foolish attempt to recreate Shakespeare’s character Marion with that nose shows a complete lack of understanding holiday costuming.

If Harry Potter was able to locate a hidden train platform at the station and Dr Who has a Tardis, who knows what potential the dark recesses of a box holds.©

The Season of Festivals has begun with the annual Boxing of  the Children. All the local realms are bubbling with joy and energy.

Even the Molly freaks Us out totally with her barking each morning has noted the return of the lumbering yellow transport boxes.

We overheard Staff discussing that many are visiting the Big Box Stores in preparation.

This excited Us, too.

We LOVE big boxes and wished to attend such a store to personally selection a big box for Our own. A whole store to committed to offering a big selection – how thrilling.

But Staff declined.

We were terrible terribly disappointed.

Perhaps Staff was wise, as it appears the yearly Invasion of the Orange Vegetables may commence early this year.

The stores are already offering protective camouflage costumes for the fall veggie assault.

Holler-Ring cannot be far behind.

Rumor says a couple of high-profile, newsworthy, presidential candidates trend setters are already considering their fall festival costuming:

Joan of Arc on horseback. 1505 manuscript. (USPD. pub.date, artist life/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Wizard of Oz (1939) promo photo (USPD. pub. date/Commons.wikimedia.org)

1922 movie poster. Douglas Fairbanks as Robin Hood. (USPD: Pub.date, artist life/Commons.wikimedia.org)

We feel compelled to offer some advice to these two individuals.

Fall garb is to disguise, not reveal who they really are:

Not wise to tempt the March of Musheaded Vegetables.

Ah, there is Staff now.

We appreciate your escort.

Yes, yes. You may tell your family of your good luck.

But only close family – not all those cousins and any social media “family tree”.

Obvious social-climbing is so gauche.

Felines know to climb in secret.

It is apparent that humans and dogs do not.

This is where We leave you.

There’s the door – and the location for you know what:

And don’t forget to leave an open can of food in the doorway as tribute

The paw is waving! Are you blind as well as deaf?

Audience fini.

Yes, yes. That is an attractive bow in apology, but go, you must.

Adieu, mon chere

I am RC Cat and I approve this message.

Oh, my! More out of the box Halloween options that candidates could consider? Any other suggestions?

Marie Antoinette. (US PD/smithsonianmag.com)

here the season started with gingerbread in the stores… odd to eat that stuff while we melt away in that heat. I like boxes too and who knows what’s really inside of an empty box?

RC Cat: “Bread of the ginger – how sweet of redheads to volunteer to serve up such delights every fall. Wonder if it is in honor of the red tree leaves? We spotted the first red leaf yesterday. Staff is muttering much to early, but We eagerly await the fall breezes and season of open windows. A box and an open window, who could ask for more? Very kind of you to send fall greetings. Paw waves, Easy.”

I saw the boxes of spiced wafer cookies over the weekend. That’s our local sign of fall along with thousands of wilted mums. Half of our kid population is boxed this week and the other remains free on bail until next week. The malls will be safe to visit during the day! Now I’m waiting for pumpkin lattes as a rite of passage. Not that I drink them. No chocolate. Whatever were they thinking when they created them?

RC Cat: “Yes, yes, Staff says there were crowds of mums at the Home Depot (which always confuses Us – how do homes get on trains? Much less how large must that train station be – no wonder Staff goes there frequently – it must be quite a sight). Those poor little flower buttons were as desperate as little puppies looking for a new home.
We applaud your wisdom about not consuming orange vegetable lattes – who knows what environment those orange things flourish? A soft cheek pat for your wisdom.”

I bet Hobby Lobby already has Christmas trees! Love Halloween, but feel it’s too soon for it to knock on my door.

RC Cat: “Sit down, my dear. Hobby Lobby was already jingling in early August. Shall we blame that on the early snow in the Rockies? Worse than coats and wool sweaters hanging in stores for back to school. But We know you are a true affectionado of Holler-Ring once it is proper. An encouraging shoulder pat to give you strength to continue. Oh, Ok, a nod to the pup, soo. We do not wish to create discord.”

We had a cat who used to love to sleep in cardboard Pepsi cases.
    Cats are wonderfully-eccentric creatures, thankfully.

May I be the first to say, “Happy Holidays!” to you! Love the costume choices for the candidates! Cheers! It won’t be cool here for a few more months but fall and holler-ring stuff are out now everywhere. Can Christmas be far behind?

RC Cat: “Having actually seen the first red leaf, We will resort to turning the AC down. Until late Oct, We must pretending it is a cool fall day. Clouds moderate the temperature, but these sheets of rain are rather dreary and tiresome. But the sun’s light and angle are slowly changing. Seagulls and sea shells are still suitable decor for now! A cheery paw wave and wishes that sand dollars find you!”

I can understand the attraction of the empty box – they were some of my favorite gifts when I was young. Our cats always found them enticing as well. On top of that our cats were ever curious as to what was in a paper bag – put an open bag on the floor and it would soon be filled with cat. I will leave an open tin of tuna at the door oh great RC. Waves good bye.

RC Cat: “AH the reclusive Paul must have been lost in memories and adventures. We were most afraid you had been attacked by a pile of soggy tissues. Yes, yes, brown paper grovery bags were highly under-rated. We are most displeased those nasty flimsy plastic flying bags has mostly pushed into usage. (Plastics tends to be escape artists and such clutter…how is it humans fail to see them soaring all over the place. Some sort of human blindspot?). Your cats were undoubtedly about to discover the back to to other universes hidden in paper bags – silly staff always removes them thinking the cat is trapped instead of stomping to open that elusive door!
Oh, Tuna! What a thrill. A soft cheek pat for your kindness and hope you are doing well.”

Molly made us laugh, it’s better to leave climbing to the experts…or in my case…former experts…MOL… 😀 We have seen the Christmas Balls coming out of the boxes last week and Granny was shaking her head, also because we had a heatwave…maybe we’re having mice cream for Christmas…outside, RC 😀 Btw I don’t do boxes, you can count the times I was in a box on one paw…well..maybe two… 😉 Pawkisses for a wonderful day 🙂 ❤
