Sourcing happiness

(Now pay attention. Expect a grilling at the end.)

A long weekend and a place to go. Now that’s happy.

True happiness is knowing exactly where the treats are located once there.

Happiness is a warm puppy!

(You knew that had to be in there somewhere.)

From the UK Sunday Telegraph (shortly after Robin Williams’ death)

“’Happiness,’ Peanuts reminds us, ‘is a warm puppy.’ And when life gets overwhelming – when there are wars overseas, racism at home and personal tragedies that just tear your heart out – hugging a puppy can be the only thing that makes sense. In an ideal world, canine cuddles would be available on the NHS. And the philosophy of Peanuts taught in every school.Read the rest here.

Hope your weekend/long holiday weekend had plenty of grins.

If you are a smile or two short of happiness, read a few quotes from author Charles M. Schulz who created Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the Peanuts gang.

Or grab a gaggle of giggles from quotes by Charlie Brown and the entire cast of characters.

That should get you up to happiness quota any time, any day no matter what.

Talk about some warm puppies. Nothing happier than a couple of teenage girls baking in the last of the summer’s sun. And waiting for something to fall off the grill…©

If you get a third visitor you are going to have to buy bigger furniture! Isn’t it funny how they know where food comes from. My husband (bless his heart) is a sloppy eater (that’s as in he drops food on the floor around him. I could never figure out why my cats would joyfully sit around him at dinnertime. I am their slave and adored human. Then I saw it happen. Just a small kernel of corn and zap! Someone got it off the floor. Just like a Hoover! Have a great holiday to the herd.

As long as it’s not raining and they can get out…of course 40-50% storms and feels like 100 degrees today so….it’s the mountain goat leaping from couch to couch that gets on your nerves.
Molly does the same thing as your cats if there’s food around. But if one has a hurt paw or is hungry, you know who’s ankles they cling around…
Thanks for dropping a comment in. Have a gleeful day!

Hey German! Halloooo! And Molly, come play, I’ll even share my sofa with you. Well, I’ve only got one. * Snowy * adds, furious tail wags.

Oddly, I’ve just been drafting up a cat/dog post for Wednesday. Just went out to get a couple of bottle of soft drink and got nearly eaten alive on return. ‘Where have you been? You were gone for Five. Whole. Minutes!’

Happiness is indeed a warm puppy, but with that comes cleaning up. It’s not all cuddles. But the cuddles and affection win out.

Nothing is better than a group couch bounce, Snowy! And Staff is so wrong if they think constant attendance is voluntary. Dunderheads – how many time must they be told. The German has started employing corrected training methods by planting heavy paw directly on top of wimpy person paw. (Best if the heaviest toe is exactly in the still tender ouchie location) or by strong powerful whacks by tail upon reentry of house. Molly seems to be taking notes. Always good to learn from experts. Any additional hints, Snowy?
Of course the yard is a swamp from the daily downpours. (We have a new giant water/dirt gobbling door mat we found on-line. It works…mostly.)
RC is demanding the dog hair tumbleweeds be raked up. Which leaves the dogs chuckling as they can’t wait to donate some more…where are birds trying to build nests when you need them?
Thanks for running over to join the pack, Snowy. Keep an eye on your person. Bark at those steps, stones, cracks in the walk that jump out and try to grab her!

    I so agree… a howl-i-day is nothing without best friends :o)

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Sep 7 2015 2:48 pm

Muddy paw prints can always be wiped up later. Just dogs trying to teach what is important in life: friends, barking at the fence, and fun. Paw waves and thanks for howling along

I needed this today. Thank you.

Molly and the German just hangin’ out. These images are great for my happiness quotient. Sounds like a fine way to spend Labor Day. May the grill master fumble!

Somehow the “fumbles”always manage to fall into the food bowls. Conveniently. Hey – fresh and healthy…not to mention yummy ( who can resist those doggy faces? We’ll just jog a bit more for the calories…) Thanks for serving up a lovely comment

Peanuts always finds a way to bring a smile. Hmmm. That book series including “I need all the friends I can get” might make perfect presents this year. Thanks for hitting a great comment over this home plate. (And ouch – we lost Savage for the season….why are they releasing quarterbacks?)

Those two look so relaxed! Personally, I hope it rains again today — but that’s purely selfishness on my part. I like to nap when it rains, and I think I’m going to need a nap today. I was up at 4 to finish my Labor Day post, and sort out in my mind which direction to go first with projects. Gosh, I’m glad I can go back to work tomorrow, so I can rest up! Woof!

About ready to run over to your place – between dog control – saw the email notice.
Looks like afternoon rain naps will be arriving for you…and the rest of the week, too. Giving dogs as much outdoor time as possible this morning – but it’s so horribly hot out there.
Sigh far too many indoor house projects here. I though today was supposed to be rest up. With luck the floor guys will show Wed…so everything has to be outta there including carpet before then. UGH
Oh, dogs! Perfect distraction and excuse! At least they mostly sleep through the night ..if the neighbor isn’t checking his smoker all night and his dogs barking like crazy probably at poor possum. Bleary predawn risers here right now. Naps. Ah, a wonderful dream. Thanks for sliding by to chat

I’m visiting family this weekend, and there are two dogs available for some hugs. But also two adorable toddlers. No shortage of sweet beings vying for my attention. 🙂

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Sep 7 2015 3:26 pm

Dogs and toddlers have so much in common. Guess that’s why the kids grow up – so you don’t always get them confused their whole lives. HA HA Sounds like the perfect happy day. Enjoy every bit of it. Thanks for running by to add a smile

Guess what has been the highest rating TV program here… an hour of cat videos taken off the ‘net, just outranked by the hour of dog videos that followed, then an hour of pet videos, another hour of animal videos and next more cat videos
Amidst all the stuff that makes me want to cringe or cry, thank goodness for the happiness of four legged furry ones 🙂

I’m going to bookmark those for grim days. Tells you something about how people are feeling about life/society in general right now. The pet videos on during Super Bowl do really well, too. So on that note, it’s outdoor doggy time. Thanks for leashing those links to add here

Nothing beats Peanuts comics and puppies. Nothing. 🙂

Excited romping puppies can give you a few black toes and bruises – but the smiles are worth it. Thanks for cracking up with a comment
