Briefs. Dodgers. A little toothy.

A wind up, a determined throw, then slamming through the universe.

Baseball? Uh, no. (Odd pick. Jumping to conclusions again. Warned you about that.)

Know that stone skipping across the water game?

A little ricochet action through today’s post. (Blame it on cough drop overload. Although some won’t notice any difference at all.)

A challenge? Could mean so many different things. (1920 flapper/unknown/USPD.pub.date/Commons.wikimedia.org

Limited amounts make something illusive. Fashion lives and dies on that.

While wandering through the April Fool’s blogs, I skipped into Sacha Black’s world: “Mother, wife, writer…almost an author, full-time worker bee, part-time nail artist”

There a challenge was being filed and polished: “Write a story in one sentence.”

Now not being known for brevity (I heard that), I was startled by a sleeping dragon rumbling, “Remember that time in elementary school when you wrote a sentence that went on and on for pages and pages and the teacher said it was the longest correctly constructed and punctuated sentence that she had ever seen?”

Dragons are not ones to be ignored, so here’s my attempt:

It was time for the little voices to cease, so weary beyond endurance and out of desperation, she let herself slip under the warm consoling waters until she heard once again, “Mommy!”

Slip over to Sacha Black’s blog to read more super short stories.

Maybe cross your fingers, add a touch of polish, and create a one sentence story of your own in comments here or there?

Don’t worry, it’s hats off to any one who attempts the quest.

Bulletsafe hat. Gizmag.com

Great for sun and shot. (Gizmag.com)

Speaking of hats, have you seen the BulletSafe Bulletproof hat?

Don’t laugh. With the rising incidents of violent road rage around here, these hats could become a must have for commuters.

It looks pretty much like a baseball cap: familiar, non-threatening, and benign. (Check the video)

Still they might consider adding some of those long ear flaps like a hunter’s cap for a little more protection for when the bullet is fired through the side window.

Hype, right? Bullets through windows while simply driving in traffic?

Happened to us a few years ago. Cops just shrugged. “Probably a gang initiation. Happens all the time.” (Well, that makes me feel better. No biggie. Just routine incident. Child’s play.)

This week they did arrest the man who shot a woman driver in the head because she honked at him. (People are so touchy and it’s not cranky hot from summer yet. Not so good.) Here’s the story.

Not an isolated event which may make bulletproof hats the accessory of the decade?

If they can work out a way to prevent hat hair, the company will have a winner.

(Arrive with smashed hat hair or feeling safe in the car? Is there really a choice?)

Speaking of public safety, it’s spring. Time to watch out for the sneaky crawlers.

No, not Peeking Toms at the window.

It’s the lurkers in the tall grasses and weeds. (No, not some lonely country boys, you really do clutch those stereotypes, don’t you?)

Two can keep a secret if one of them has a duct taped mouth. (ABC13/image: KBMT)

Time for amorous alligators.

After the long chill, they’ve started coming out to sun and strut to impress.

This week a pair of gator party mates were told their reservations were canceled. Just a little too unsettling for the kids who normally swim in the pond. (Video here)

Moved to more appropriate accommodations to Gator Country preserve near Beaumont, TX.

(And just look at them. Scaling activities to mirror “50 Shades of Grey”? Honestly, get a more isolated swamp, next time. Think of the children. Oh? You were? Wait, they are so not on the lunch menu. 400 pounds at 11 feet long? Gator guy – the past 35 years have been good to you. Watch that waistline. Healthy diet and exercise. Swimming is a good choice. Must say, that toothy smile is quite winsome)

Safe word! Say the stupid safe word. Quick, while there’s a chance to make a break for it! ( Image by KBMT/abc.13/pets)

Enough bytes for you?

Blog post lite. (Pass the tissues, please. Sneezie is not just a name of a Disney character.)

What if the alligator catches your sniffles and has to sneeze while taped up? That could be a terrible explosion. ha!

Oh, no! Would that cause a gator blowout? The guy that found them said they were out walking their dog and looked up and there the gators were: 12 feet ahead of them taking a nap in the sun. It’s that time of year. Keep fluffy on a leash. Thanks for doing a bang up job with the comment (and I haven’t forgotten your post…just running slow right now)

Oh wow that’s great to write a story in one sentence and yours is fabulous! I had the same thought about the cap… some areas are still unprotected :o)

Maybe you’re supposed to hold up the kid’s bulletproof backpack between you and the side window? When cars can drive themselves there will either be no windows (screens showing passengers the sights instead) or Motorcycle-type helmets will be issued. Nooo. Robot cars will take the road trip fun out of driving! Taking my chances…and not blowing the horn.
Little sentence stories are pretty curious. It was fun reading the others, too.

I think you nailed the one-sentence short story, especially since it’s one so many of us can relate to!

Every Wed for a challenge? Now that sounds intriguing. A bit under the weather and fuzzy headed right now, but will wander your way again shortly. Thanks for for gathering up a brief comment to leave.

Exactly: honey and lemon. Think I’ve turned the corner, but trying keep it in low gear until feeling stronger. The dog insists on walking me for fresh air and exercise, but staying out of the rain is probably preferable. Will slosh over your way shortly. Thanks for stopping by to chat

No story, but a riddle/joke that actually circulated in Oakland, back in the day:

What did Huey Newton say to Bobby Seale at the end of every Black Panther meeting?
    See you later, agitator.

Well, ok. At least there’s a song for those gators in the truck bed!

Love the one sentence story… your brevity was admirable… you could have pushed it! 😉

It’s a sad world where bulletproof hats make sense.

Bless you… I hope you’re on the mend.

The one sentence story thing is very cool…may have to take another turn at it.
Even sadder to me is the bulletproof backpacks for kids…and that I might actually consider one. Just nuts.
I wandered around in the sun a bit today soaking in some healthy stuff. Hope I’m turning the corner and tonsils are stopping it from progressing, but suspect I’m going to lose my voice for a couple of days…maybe not a bad thing…good excuse for not responding (giggles) Thanks for sending a smile

Hmmm. Don’t know if I could write a one sentence story, but you made it look easy. A new goal for me, perhaps? Very interesting.

Wonder if very long run-on sentences count? I can do those easily! This one was difficult as writing poetry, for me. But maybe a second attempt someday. Thanks for phrasing a lovely comment

Happens all the time??! Maybe I better get one of those caps. I agree with you about the need for ear flaps.
Poor gators, caught in the act.
I’m too long-winded for a one sentence story. You did it well. 🙂 That is an intriguing picture (and made me go “hmmm….what is it?”).
I’ve caught a cold, too. Bleh.

Wonder if those caps are extra hot in summer? Over-heated brains and headaches. Roadways are getting to be a concern, not only do you have to watch traffic, you need to keep an eye on inhabitants of cars. More headaches.
Not sure I could do a repeat with the sentence story…especially with cough drop haze…and tissue boxes getting empty so quickly. Bleh is right.
The picture image is light patterns from a wall of glass bricks I came across. I played with another (changing hues and contrasts) and if you squint it looks like alien space invasion over a desert town at night…but sneezing too much to see if it was really like that or simply looked that way to me a result of fever and lack of sleep (giggle) Will have to review the tweaked one at a later date. Thanks for commiserating.Hope you feel better soon!

Feeling much better this week, but taking it easy. There’s some sort of bronchial/respiratory virus that seems to be epidemic around here.(on top of worst tree pollen allergy season every). Better rest up now…the German is coming for a sleepover shortly…so of course, it will rain….there’s always furniture moving for indoor dog entertainment. Thanks for risking sneeze exposure to chat!

I think that’s a great one sentence story. And your memory of a sentence that went on forever reminded me of “A Hundred Years of Solitude,” where Garcia Marquez had a sentence that was something like an entire chapter in length!

I had forgotten that Marquez sentence. The very short sentence stories and tiny short stories are beginning to intrigue me. MAy have to look into those some more. Thanks for the encouragement. (Cherry trees? Saw pix of the ones in Japan – looks like an enchanted land) (Wait…go write…you don’t have time!) (giggles)
