Of course, we dress for dinner.

What do you mean you didn’t realize? (Lilla Cabot Perry/USPD:artist life/Commons.wikimedia.org)

What? Did not the courier deliver the message?

Do not mumble. It is the sign of a troubled or weak mind.

We shall be generous and assume it is low blood sugar.  Come along now. Keep up. If you are with Us, none will bother you…despite your attire.

You do know which spoon to use? And not to slurp your soup? It’s chicken. Good for this miserable dreary weather.

A lovely luncheon with Us.

That shall make up for your disappointment.

So unpleasant when routines must be disrupted. Que sera, sera.

It was necessary to tell Staff not fret or worry over a Friday blog post.

“The world shall not end,” We insisted as We ended the efforts by sitting on the keyboard.

Being considerate, We were too kind to mention that visitors might be relieved to find no assigned reading.

Between the party on Monday – and it was a lovely event – such fun to see everyone even if the crowds made it difficult to get to Our vanilla icy cream.

Oh, the blogiversary treats were purrfect and appropriately served. (Gerard/USPD:artist life/Commons.wikimedia.org)

Of course, there was no choice but to welcome the poor German who was suddenly having tummy issues. Nerves? More likely the result of snatching some tidbit off the counter she wasn’t supposed to have. Canines. Such poor eating habits. There’s always the possibility she just wanted a vacation playdate. We were suspicious as she seemed to perk up and feel better in so little time.

“Fishy stink. Three days, fishy stink!” We wailed. To no avail. Sigh.

Staff was being stretched already at that point.

Then the attack in the brush. A red-eye express.

Staff cavorting with canines in the Outer Realm! We know that is what happened. Not paying attention. Silly attempt to run off some dog energy before the rain.

Rain and more rain. Normal creatures would curl up and nap, but not the German nor the Molly which meant staff was busy keeping them busy. And walking in them in the chilly downpours. Dogs have no consideration.

In any case, between all the party cleanup, the wet dog towels, rolling dog hair tumbleweeds, and an eye worthy of a werewolf, We had to put Our paw down.

Staff needs rest.

The post in progress, while already causing chuckles, must be put aside.

No doubt, while you have come so far only to be disappointed about that, you shall be offered a light lunch – with a saucer of tasty icy cream afterwards.

Yes, yes, We can see you are delighted.

Do not make assumptions, We warn you.

Now come along. No dawdling. We know it is tempting to gawk at the Inner Realm’s hidden wonders.

Oh? Salmon? It appears Staff did manage to create a special little treat in your honor. ©

Do not even think of Staff carrying you. We told you. Staff must rest.

You have Our permission to be seated.

Yes, it the light is dim by your chairs. That way your inappropriate attire is not so noticeable. We accept your unspoken thanks.

Please do not attempt to sneak one of the realm’s cloth napkins into your pocket. No souvenirs.

Our paw has waved. Shall We begin?

Staff? We are waiting.

There now. Yes, a petite feast in your honor. Delightful, is it not?

Don’t forget to leave the tribute of an open can of food in the doorway.

I am RC Cat and I approve this message.

So kind of you to serve a treat with a less than stellar staff. Hoping all returns to normal soon. Hope the German feels better too.

RC Cat: “We graciously accept your praise. The German suspects tainted dog dental treats caused her unpleasantness. There are no substitutes for Greenies. She, being an elevated breed, has a rather delicate tummy – and then her embarrassment over an accident would make her more nervous, which, well, a nasty cycle. Now she has returned to her normal routine: grabbing a mouthful of her food and taking it to her couch to much on while watching TV. As We dislike the leftover crumbs on the couch, We have reminded the Molly that while guest are allowed faux paws, resident are not allowed to much dog food on the couch. The crumbs are quite uncomfortable to curl up in. Staff has promised the sun shall return to the sunny room. We hold out hope. We are quite distressed Our paw waves may be a tad soggy at this time. We shall not attempt a cheek pat. You understand it is out of politeness. Cautious paw waves!”

RC Cat: “We shall relay your kind concern to the German who has returned home feeling better. Nothing like staying in a place with a short run from couch to outdoors and large overhangs so there’s a patch of dry ground. Dog say it is quite worrisome it is to have to wait in line when you really need to go. We attempted to show Staff a grassy dog pallet featured on Shark Tank, but Staff said that was called “the backyard.” A paw wave salute for your compassion.”

Honestly, I think it’s only that the German is sick of the weather. The poor dear just wants to cavort and play in some sunshine, thank you very much. This rain/drizzle/glop is nauseating. There probably are some good things to be said about gray skies and muddy, brown water, but I can’t think of any at this point.

I even thought it was going to let up this morning, and went across the bridge to Lakewood. Pffffttt… it was flat raining. So I came home. Now, the breeze is up, and I thought things might be drying out, but it looks like there’s more drizzle to the west. Double pffffftttt… I’m about ready for vanilla ice cream and a nap, myself.

Is it one of those be careful what you wish for things? We went straight into summer this weekend.I think you are right about the German – she had a relapse and is back..wimpy for a few days, vet check…when the sun came out and she is able to go cavort in the yard with a friends, she’s suddenly better. (But since the yard become a muddy mess from the dog racing, we’re letting them out one at a time – spoiling their fun – or walking to island on leash – which is good for everyone…time consuming though.) We are beginning to suspect the dogs are in cahoots. RC is quite miffed, but at least the sun is coming in her suite’s windows this time of year. Naps sound good. Where is that dog whisperer’s instructions for sleepy time whispers? Thanks for sloshing over. (Soggy is due back Wed. UGH)

Ah, RC, my canine is much more refined and refuses to exit the house when it is wet and muddy out. As she should. I’m not sure just how she crosses those long back legs to hold it in, but she does! Can’t be marring the lovely white legs, you know.

We are considering this for Our official portrait as it show how We appreciate the fine taste of things. As We insisted Staff spend the weekend beautifying the front flowerbed, We missed your weekend tea and thoughts. Staff shall be instructed to search for any crumbs left. A soft cheek pat for your kindness.”

We send you some Gibraltar sunshine and paw waves to all. Nothing wrong with food on sofas though. Snowy says it’s important to hide dog biscuits for later when emergency supplies may be needed.

RC Cat: “Oh, your gracious gift of sun arrived just in time for the weekend. We directed Staff from the window as they sorted out the front flowerbed. Sadly, the German has relapsed and returned feeling poorly. A travel to the vet yielded no explanations. But she perked up and is romping as much as Staff will allow in the backyard mud. This maybe a plot between the two dogs. We shall keep an eye on them….and watch for tennis balls and the like buried in the couch. Perhaps Snowy would consider a position as locator? An exhausted paw wave to your realm.”

RC Cat: “We are waving Our royal paw in happiness with your visit. OF course your are the RC/Queen of your Realm – and have trained your staff well. We are always delighted at your crown which must be made of special to look invisible to most/the unworthy – keeps it from getting snatched. How clever you are. We often see it sparkle in your portraits by the window or in the garden. So kind of you to send pawkisses for doggy of the delicate tummy. Annoyingly We had to point out to staff that she was outdoors grabbing some bugs drawn to the light on the windows at night. Such foolishness. Wishing you sunny days to enjoy!”
