Seriously stuck on you. ©

Hey good lookin’. What’s cha got cookin’? That’s what some gals were saying viewing a “Most Eligible Bachelors” feature in a magazine recently. Pretty, poised, and polished.  Definite keepers.

Take this one guy. (Please take him…Oh, you’ll see.)

Mid 30’s, owns a company. Items manufactured overseas. Well, that’s smart, right? Lower costs mean more profit. An astute businessman. Looking good!

What the magazine neglected to mention was that he lives at home with his mom, drives his mom’s car, and if he’s going to be out late, he has to call home and tell his mom.

Exactly what is this one eligible for? (Honey, listen to your gut. Run.)

Molly is keeping an eye, well, a nose on what’s important in these pictures.

She’s making sure all hope doesn’t go down the drain.

Understands about being an underdog.

And abandoning all hope.

Want to see what’s up? Join the pack.

Look here.

Chasin’ down a good lookin’ dream.

Phil, the Philosopher Mouse of the Hedge

+1 Million for the Hank Williams reference!

That song is still winding through my brain – not a bad thing! Thanks for spinning up a comment

  2. Carrie Rubin / Oct 16 2014 1:17 pm

Given he has to call his mom to update her on his whereabouts, perhaps that bachelor isn’t too eligible after all. Appears he’s already taken. 😉

Well I suppose that is one way of saving money… stay at home with mommy… but ladies, avoid such a man…

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 16 2014 1:39 pm

Run far. Run fast. (and hang on to your wallet). Thanks for looking up a comment to leave.

Oedipus complex? Probably not a good relationship to enter. Mom might get jealous. Some Mom’s are good shots.

Watching Molly peering into the downspout immediately triggers a desire to climb up on the roof from the opposite side with a hose and give her a bath through the downspout. Ha!

    Fun post Phil. Thank You.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 16 2014 1:43 pm

Could be the beginning of a made-for-TV docudrama. Molly’s search habit all started when she spotted a frog sitting in there. She makes this funny snuffling metalic echoing sound trying to sniff out possibilities. Keeps her busy and not digging…so far she hasn’t dismantled the downspout….yet. Thanks for lookin’ over this way

My Vizsla has a big old scab on his nose, probably from doing something similar to Molly, except by the air conditioner. Dogs!! Just like children – have to try it all.

I do like how you used her picture to illustrate your point!

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 16 2014 1:45 pm

Since it’s cooler now, Molly’s playing outside and all the lizards are having to scramble to any safe haven. Maybe I should wrap some padding around those edges….but she’d just enjoy ripping it off, then settle in for lizard watch. Thanks for scrambling over to chat

Thanks for infecting my brain with the Hank WIlliams earworm. haha Love the Molly pictures.

Another great heads-up! Be wary of pretty packages, those strings have odd ends! But not at Sunscribe. We’re your basic publisher, sans frills or strings. Thanks, Phil for another link! Your support is greatly appreciated.
Love that dog, never need to worry about attack gutters with that one guarding your house!

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 16 2014 2:18 pm

(HA! You connected the dots. Many may try, few succeed…) Yes, Molly is the first line of defense against malicious downspouts and any frogs or lizards building terrible plans with them. Thanks for sliding over to chat

ha! and I bet this guy even collects barbie-dolls :o) and now the song is in my head for the rest of the day hahahaha thanks :o)

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 16 2014 2:20 pm

That one and “Down down down into a burning ring of fire…” (Why do I get these things started?) Thanks for sniffing out a comment

  9. Vanessa-Jane Chapman / Oct 16 2014 4:21 pm

Reminds me of that Friends episode (as so many things do!) where Monica is dating some old high school crush and it turns out that he’s still living with his parents – when she indicates surprise, he says “Yes, but I’m allowed to stay out as late as I want!” 🙂

  10. EllaDee / Oct 16 2014 11:26 pm

I’m guessing Mom wrote and sent the “Bachelor’s” application to the TV show… I can’t imagine why… oh, grandchildren! Cut those apron strings 😉

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 17 2014 2:54 pm

You are probably right – Maybe she’s his marketing manager? Or wants her house and life back?
This mom-son duo somehow seem right for a Halloween movie! Thanks for sending a watchful comment

  11. roughwighting / Oct 17 2014 12:30 pm

Molly should go out with any bachelorette looking for her man. Molly would sniff up the good, the bad, and the ugly.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 17 2014 2:47 pm

Actually that’s The German’s job now in retirement. She has plenty of experience sniffing them out and no qualms about running them off if necessary (thank goodness…mom can take a rest)
Molly is the cruise director. (Got food? She’s waggin’…but she’s being tutored by The German)
Thanks for digging up a comment

Always glad to help when I can – and so are other bloggers. Proof even little things make a difference.

Nothing wrong with checking out the wild life. Glad you found something that gave you a giggle. Thanks for lining up a comment

  14. jmmcdowell / Oct 22 2014 8:28 pm

Ah, that Molly. What will she nose up to next? 🙂 As for eligible bachelor, all I can do is echo your words to the girls—run fast, run far (and in the opposite direction if the point’s not clear)!

Glad to see that Roxie moved to the next round!

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 24 2014 6:26 pm

Glad you clarified the instructions. Forgot some really need the long form directions.
Sometimes we consider renting Molly out as a vacuum – she’s really a nose hound and always seems to be tracking something. Busy. Busy. We do have to wash off her muzzle sometimes…before she rubs it off on your pant leg. (Sounds like a little kid, right?)
Everyone gave Roxie a shot at it, now we’ll sit back and see. Thanks for riding along

The picture of the dog and the spout makes me want to go on the roof and dump a bucket of water.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Oct 27 2014 2:49 pm

Such a temptation. If we were worried about drowning the frog, lizard, or whatever she’s trapped there, we might consider. But we need the mosquito hunters! Thanks for pouring down a comment
