She Struggles. Without a Sara or those Fate sisters.

Vintage picture of couple. Amica.1905:Bibliotheque nationale de France/PD/

Can you believe it? It’s her, HRH! She’s going to speak to us. (1905/ PD/

Stop standing there like something the cat dragged in…. like a cat would ever actually bother to haul an Uncoopperative anywhere.  Either come along limply and dead with gratitude or get out of Our sight find some other employer.

Doesn’t the agency prep their hires? Oh. How odd. You are not Sara Sair-rah?

Staff seemed to be expecting assistance. We thought the name to be Sara.

Their recent incessant humming, part in Spanish, part in English, about “Que  Sara Sair-rah…”

They get stuff mixed up so often.

We are too understanding.

So. You? Just decided to pop in on the RC Cat of the Realm?

A drop in. Without an invite. Expecting cheery welcome?

You must be new here.

Cleopatra, 1917. Theda Bara/

We shall overlook your foolishness just this once – but only if you prove to be useful to Us.(1917.Theda Bara/

Sigh. We, the RC of the Realm shall be gracious. You shall be allowed to assist Us.

Yes. Yes. That stack.

Pick it up. Why do you think you were given hands?

Come along now.

Children’s Boxing Day is nearing.

There shall be great celebrations sending the little ones off to the Big Box Training Centers.

We shall do Our part and review the banner logos

Those papers you carry. Spread those designs on the table.

We shall examine them closely.

Sitting on them is a part of Our technique, fool.

Difficult task to choose a favorite from among these.

What? Oh, the text is obviously just for illustration purposes during the process.

The final logo versions shall have “2014 Award Winning Boxing Day” or something.

Super Sweet Blogger Awards. (

Mmmmm. Tasteful! Very festive and colorful. Children cupcakes – many adults, too. With these paper ones, everyone would approve. Sweet, but no sugar to ingest before the trip to Boxing.

Liebster, june 2013: The View

Ah, an artist eye tuned to the fall colors. Heartful, indeed. Those off to be boxed will see their parents’ love in this design as well in their parent’s eyes – and retail charge tickets. One to consider seriously.

award from Meredith's

Creative choice! Encouraging them to have a super year as well as emphasizing that the experience could make this year most influential in their lives. Yes. Yes. Positive message with this one.

WOnderful Team Member award from

Classic! Wonderful design. Emphasizes the enlightenment – the energy – the delight  that comes from learning. Tradition. Quite a good reminder for those returning to the Training Box Centers.

Word Press Family Award (

Thoughtful design. Will reassure the young ones that while they are boxed long hours apart each day, We in the Realm hold them in Our thoughts. No matter where they are, they are part of Us. That should help lessen separation anxieties. Some have such fears when forced to step away for a bit.

Lovely.  These are perfect for Boxing Day celebration banners.

Yes. Done. We shall accept all of them.

Their messages shall hang on banners throughout the Realm.

We have inquired if all preparations will be completed in time only to have Staff wail, “If the Fates allow.”

These Fates.

Apparently three of them. Sisters.

Seamstresses, it seems. According to Staff, they measure and cut.

The Fate family must be thrilled their seamstress daughters are to be in Our employ. (Blaas/USPD: reprod of PD art/

Staff must have hired them to make the banners. And perhaps for couch slip covers.

How thoughtful.

The Molly has scratched the leather cushions. (We are not fooled by her weak excuses of attempting to add decoration or embellishment.)

But Staff should refer them to Us if the Fate sisters seem to be altering their time schedule.

A cut-up in every crowd. (Atropos and the thread of life/Tom Oaks/

We do not wish Staff to become overly stressed. Odd side effects when that happens.

Their eyes disturbingly roll.

This eye roll must be genetically human.

See! The very thought of difficulties are making your eyes roll.

Being thoughtful of lesser species and not wishing to stand close if the condition is contagious, We grant you permission to leave.

No dithering. We insist! Keeping Us you safe.

We shall ask Staff to escort you safely out to make sure you leave.  Your eye rolling is increasing.

Where is staff when you need them?

Where is Staff when you need them?

That’s a paw wave of dismissal – not nervous paw fluttering. Rapid repeated paw waves.

Yes, yes. Bows not required.

You must flee depart to insure your continued good health.

Staff! Attend Us!

This lovely one is leaving.

We have enjoyed your impromptu visit, but nap duty calls.

Staff! Our paw is tired of waving! A pillow desperately needed.

As you can see, we must bid you adieu.

Permission to withdraw and contemplate your good fortune of being on Our presence for so long.

Protocol is to respectfully bow out.

And don’t forget to leave that open can of food in the doorway as tribute!

I am RC Cat and I approve this message;

That’s what I keep wondering… where in the world is my staff… they all appear to have bailed…

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Jul 29 2014 1:56 am

RC Cat: “Oh, dear. Inattentiveness is widespread then. How annoying. Perhaps the dogs had tied them up with leashes and demands for attention? We shall investigate and report back. Meanwhile, be brave.”

  2. Unconfirmed Bachelorette / Jul 29 2014 1:02 am

Your great beauty causes me to linger, RC.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Jul 29 2014 1:50 am

RC Cat: Oh, We feel so appreciated. We shall leave word at the gate that you should be allowed to sit in Our lovely gardens anytime the whimsy strikes you. Beauty of all kinds is soothing to the soul. A gentle head nudge and soft passing tail brush in thanks.”

  3. Paul / Jul 29 2014 5:08 am

This seems kind of sad. Is RC Cat OK?

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Jul 29 2014 12:58 pm

RC Cat: “Ah, how kind of you to be concerned. As it is summer and almost 100 degrees, Our enthusiasm tends to be a bit low key. Our viewing window is only allowed to be open a short time in early morning. And the Molly is bored and constantly is inquiring if We would like to play. We firmly vetoed Staff’s suggestion of a summer haircut. And the suggestion of a puppy friend for the Molly? No. Not going to happen. We must keep a firm paw on things when the heat seems to over heat Staff’s brains…they have trouble thinking under normal conditions. Now we must go make sure the Molly hasn’t jumped on the bed taking up Our spot under the fan. A quick tail brush as We go on Our way for your kindness. Yes, a great acknowledgement, but it would not be wise to tell others of your good fortune. Adieu.”

Congrats on all of your awards. While I have no doubt that you deserve them, I admit to being a tad jealous. I like colorful images on my blog and this bunch, in particular, is very pretty. No wonder RC Cat likes them so much. They distract her from the dog days of summer heat. Whatever works, works, eh?

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Jul 29 2014 4:59 pm

RC Cat: “We do not wish any one to suffer pains – either from heat or lack of colorful banners. Graciously, We extend a paw with an invitation to adopt any and all designs. Creative arts should be shared. We think these could be stitched together as a colorful lap quilt. Sadly, We cannot offer to have the work done here – as the Fate sisters seem to cut-out much too frequently – at this rate it getting the Boxing Day banners done will mean dogging them. The Moly needs entertainment – and why not, We ask? Perhaps that Sara Sair-rah has wandered over there? Sigh. What will be, will be, We suppose. A paw wave sent (You will pretend it is an energetic one, yes? Our thanks.)

      • Ally Bean / Jul 29 2014 5:45 pm

As always, RC Cat, you are a most kind and benevolent ruler of the realm. Gracious in all respects to we mere mortals who dare to connect with you. I am honored, indeed. Many thanks.

  5. EllaDee / Jul 30 2014 12:37 am

RC wonderful as always, sharing the love, with grace and humour under trying circumstances acknowleding the adoration that is your due, with credit to Staff in their efforts. Leaving now… stay cool 🙂

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Jul 31 2014 11:53 pm

RC Cat: “So delightful to have intelligent conversation with one so observant. The summer’s heat is tedious. A raised paw salute to your grace and compassion.”

  6. jmmcdowell / Jul 31 2014 12:02 am

We’ve had a respite from the typically sweltering summers in our part of the country. If only those polar vortexes could make a visit or two each summer month…. I hope RC is being well attended in this heat!

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Jul 31 2014 2:01 am

RC Cat: “We are delighted to report that it was in the upper 70’s at night and low 90’s here. Staff even opened Our window so we might get a fresh sniff of air for a bit. Yes, yes. Quite delightful! Charming you, too, are enjoying a pleasant spell. A perky paw wave in thanks for your visit!”

  7. jannatwrites / Jul 31 2014 4:41 pm

RC makes me smile, in between curtsies I admire her beauty! My kids are in their second week at the ‘box.’ My, is my house peaceful these days… well until about 3:30, that is 🙂

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Jul 31 2014 11:37 pm

RC Cat: “We are thrilled you are already benefitting from Boxing Day. Of course you are smiling: young ones boxed up and being in Our presence. One as gracious as you deserve a peaceful environment. A soft cheek pat to add to the soothing mood.”
