Tears not falling.
You brought flowers.
Now as wilted as my hopes.
You brought warmth.
Now waking hours as cold as my bed.
You brought long lyrical walks.
Now all roads lead one way to desolation.
You whispered of morning bird songs.
Now only silence echoes.
Bewildered. Barren. The starkness stings.

I warned you about getting your hopes up. Being too trusting.

They say “Set them free and they will return – to stay forever.”
That I will not ask.
Something you are cannot give.
And truth be known, I would grow tired of you.
Your energy, your lightheartedness, your games
Eventually with my retreat to the shadows.
But for a while we would be enamoured of each other.
Companions entwined with overflowing joy.
So cruel, Spring. Breezing in with whispered promises only abruptly disappear.
Are you teasing another?
Cold hearted flirt.
Waiting with ready forgiveness.
You always want what you cannot have.
Tears frozen. Not falling.
Unlike the darn temperature: 77 yesterday – 27 today.
Spring, with your little high school girl antics, Got a Sugar Daddy elsewhere?
Taking bribes from the cruise industry?

And today. Nothing to see here. That ugly 3 lettered word that begins with “I” is being said not too far from here. That’s irritating: More than 3 letters and more than applicable.
Please. Return.
Unchill my heart…and toes.
Phil, the Philosopher Mouse of the Hedge.
Yesterday: sun with little spring notes. Guess those were just “save the date” cards.

Native woods violets. They kindly followed me home from the farm and decided they liked resort living. Hardy early boomers and thriving. I would say taking over, but am afraid they’d take offense and leave.

Eager to please, arching Bridal Veil is always first to the party and never complains. A true spring bride.

Mexican heather bush among the violets. Doesn’t care. Will dare. Knows the bees and butterflies are desperate. (Yes, saw butterflies yesterday)

Spring is such a tease, peeking around the corner, flitting in and out, giggling and then running away to hide again. Nobody likes a tease.

About ready to throw a pillow case over her head and tie her to a chair. Sun finally came out this afternoon and it’s 42, but cold tonight, possible sleet in the morning north and west of us – just rain here. Can I just sleep until it’s over? Thanks for dancing along

She danced here too….for a weekend. Now we are expecting a low of 3 tonight with a high of 20 tomorrow. Boooo! (The silver lining is that the storm predicted for last night missed us by 200 miles! Yay!)

It’s the Never Ending Winter. Glad the main part of the storm hiked around you – it’s cold enough there! Stay warm – and thanks for bundling up a comment

Wowsa! 50 degree drop?! Guess I’ll stop complaining. At least I’m not getting teased like that. 🙂

Remember that movie “The Endless Summer”? Now we’ve got the winterized version. Thanks for skating along

We get big temp drops a lot – kids hate it as moms make them drag extra clothing to school. Big drops means tornadoes north of us in the spring – but usually we don’t have those as close as we between lake, bay, and coast (knock on wood). Finally a bit of sun and 40, sleet and rain tomorrow…fun never seems to end. Running outside – quick before it leaves! Thanks for keeping up!

UGH. What a grim year. (Hear UK is having a time, too) Hope the worst is missing you – sunny for a bit now, but rain, maybe sleet tomorrow. Cruise lines are loving this. Thanks for paddling along

I’ll take this over the flooding in the United Kingdom any day. Brief dusting of snow today, not as bad as expected. A cruise sounds great right about now. 🙂

We’ve got the same weather nonsense going on here. Dramatic temp drop with snow! Sick of this, I am, I am.

I think it’s been a bit warmer here and the plants feel sorry for me…and they know they are on their own.(“Look, we’re survivors – please don’t let the dogs stomp us!”). Sun for an hour or two now – sleet tomorrow. Nooooooo. The German’s back home and Molly’s wound up like a spring. (Where’s the off switch?) Thanks for stomping through the mire

I like the blooms! We had a couple days of rain here, but now, things are quite nice. We’ve got a few blooms of our own, but have also heard that late-season frost is quite common. (Crazy weather though- over the weekend, there apparently was a tornado that touched down in Mesa, AZ… tornadoes are not too common around here, so of course the news stations latched onto it!)

Spring’s tease has been half-hearted at best around here. The odd day in the upper 50s is the best we can get, although DC itself hit the 60s a couple times. Normally the bulbs would be blooming all over around here, but this year? Still in hiding, which is where most of us humans want to be, too!

It’s above 60! And sunny! Ducks have lifted off from here. Spotted some Purple Martins in a bird condo nearby. The giant bulbs are sending up first leaves. Other plants are budding. The plums/pears and redbuds are white with blooms. Inch by inch – wait..daylight savings is this weekend? More confusion and blurriness ahead with that. Thanks for being on bloom watch
