Silliness of it all.

People are silly.

That phrase is a multipurpose winner: advice, condolences, explanation, and observation all in one.

Could be mantra for the year?

Might short-circuit some rants, return some commonsense, lessen some stress?

People are certainly an enigma.

Do the kid a favor and teach that phrase.

And repeat it often.

Will come in handy later in life.

People are silly.

Funny phrase: funny HA HA or funny peculiar?

Those in search of frivolity in NYC not to be denied, though.

The stand-by line for Saturday Night Live tickets at the NBC studio is growing despite the frigid temps.(VIDEO)

HA! They wrap in blankets against the cold concrete.

HA! They laugh at the thought of being buried in snow drifts 1-2 feet deep.

HA! They laugh at the wimps who caution them, ask about food, or bathroom trips. Not a second thought.

They are young! The brave.

They are Justin Bieber fans!

It’s the “love will keep me warm” thing.

Bieber’s PR peeps should be shuffling that singer to get over and shake hands with the hardy ones.

Before the red runny noses crust over with ice.

Before their fingers crack, bleed, and fall off.

Black fingers and toes are not such a pretty promo pix.

But bandages and weeping girls would allow him to show is sensitive side during a hospital visit?

NBC is considering releasing available show tickets early.

It’s simply a matter of time before the t-shirts show up:

“I went to see Justin host Saturday Night Live and all I got was this lousy frostbite!”

People are so silly.

What one group thinks is insane, the other thinks is totally sensible.

Funny is so difficult – that HA HA or peculiar.

Lots of snorts when parts of Arkansas considered letting people pistol tote their guns to church.

At least this way the guns won’t be stolen while the people are hearing about the word of God.

Now if they will only add a guarded check room for computers and flat screen TVs, too. (Honey load up the car quickly, we don’t want to miss the sermon). Might actually improve attendance? Perhaps a “stay and play” for valuables while homeowners get groceries?

Residents of Hillcrest can’t even go pick up a pizza without coming home to find everything they own is gone – again.

(Law enforcement’s solution: “Just don’t buy anything nice. Then they won’t break in.” Seriously. He said that. Not HA HA funny.)

Guns at church. Bingo!

Oh, if there are bingo games on church grounds, potential problems?

Everyone knows some people are bad losers.

People are just so silly.

Some church people are really funny.

Funny HA HA or funny peculiar depends on your view of life, sense of right and wrong, and willingness to forgive.

Maybe the joke’s finally on the Westboro Baptist Church?

That’s the rude group known for screaming ugly comments and picketing during funerals of fallen soldiers.

Two granddaughters of the leader have left the group and are now staying with another former member.

The oldest sister says they now see all the hurt and pain the church’s radical beliefs have caused and deeply regret it.

They are trying to figure things out according to a statement they released.

A Church spokesman announced the girls have rejected the Lord and are going to Hell.

What can I say?

People are silly.

Funny, it’s the only logical explanation.

Glad that you are able to find the silly in things. Makes life better, doesn’t it?

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 8 2013 11:24 pm

Might as well laugh – there’s usually silliness at the bottom of it. Thanks for starting the giggles (and still think a silly mantra logo is needed!)

  2. Spinster / Feb 8 2013 11:23 pm

Isn’t it funny how the world works?

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 9 2013 4:18 pm

It’s a real circus if you look at it all. Looks like they weathered the big snow storm – but another one’s on the way. What’s the deal groundhog? (Oh, shorter winter, but a cold stormy end to it?) THanks for swooping by

  3. JackieP / Feb 8 2013 11:30 pm

    people are indeed silly.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 9 2013 4:19 pm

It would probably help if all would learn to laugh a little more at themselves, too? Thanks for sliding over to chat

      • JackieP / Feb 9 2013 4:31 pm

For sure it would help. I laugh at myself all the time!

  4. PiedType / Feb 8 2013 11:39 pm

Sometimes I think that’s what kids are for — to see and point out the silliness of adults.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 9 2013 4:20 pm

If kids were in charge things might be less complicated…and we’d all get to nap maybe. Thanks for sledding over to chat

  5. pnwauthor / Feb 9 2013 12:08 am

I know I haven’t done anything as silly as what you described. At least not lately. What is it with Justin Bieber that gets girls in a frenzy? He’s hardly the Beatles. I don’t get it.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 9 2013 4:24 pm

Not sure where this is coming from unless it because someone said fans were supposed to get in a frenzy( and their moms supported that idea) or it’s cool (Literally this time)
THe Beatles/Stones signaled a huge shift in music/fashion/ideas – and they were from England not here. (“Foreign” is always more sophisticated and elite?). Hear they did hand out the tickets on Friday instead of Saturday as usual….and places sent free pizza….so maybe it’s all an attention grabbing thing /something to brag about next week?
Thanks for shoveling a thought this way

      • pnwauthor / Feb 10 2013 2:19 am

Maybe the media has something to do with it too since the media can turn anyone into a star.

I could live a happy life not to hear anything more about Beiber or any of those other trite celebrities who constantly end up on the Yahoo News headlines. I wish there was another universe we could send all those celebrities…

  6. jmmcdowell / Feb 9 2013 1:03 am

I don’t think I’d stand out in the cold and snow waiting for tickets for anyone! I just checked with my 14-year-old self, and she said we never did any such thing. 😉

That storm is brutal, and I hope people will put the silliness aside and take sensible shelter.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 9 2013 4:26 pm

If they order cars off the roads, they won’t order these fans off the street? Hear SNL/NBC did pass out the tickets early. Looks like you guys have some sun and missed the worst of it…(not counting cold rain, freezing temps, and darkness…that’s just winter there. Shiver.) Stay warm and hope the power stays on! THanks for standing around a bit here.

  7. Unconfirmed Bachelorette / Feb 9 2013 2:14 am

Here I was enjoying your post and the next thing I knew I’d been scrawling through Facebook for ten minutes. What? Ohhhh your Hillcrest link goes to Facebook.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 9 2013 4:27 pm

That link was a trap – but Hillcrest always has something crazy going on…like a car wreck…can’t turn away. Thanks for driving in to chat

  8. NO ULTERIOR MOTIVE / Feb 9 2013 4:40 am

I love it ! ! You’re right, all that’s left sometimes is a good laugh or chuckle.

  9. Snoring Dog Studio / Feb 9 2013 1:08 pm

Glad to hear it about Westboro. I hope the defections continue. It’s truly a small group of small-minded people who ought to be forgotten.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 9 2013 4:39 pm

Less publicity the better for that bunch. THe oldest girl had been one of the most outspoken, she finally realized what the Bible was sayin’ was different from what was being preached there. Hope she’s strong and adjusts to life outside her family. THanks for marching by

  10. rumpydog / Feb 9 2013 5:10 pm

It’s hard to be accepting of folks like Westboro, but when I’m not tolerant of them, I’m behaving the same way they do.

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 9 2013 7:33 pm

That’s true everyone has the right to believe as they wish. That is one way to look at it
But when they make a big effort and travel distances to say hateful/disruptive things in front of parents/family members who on the way to bury a child or loved one, a line has been crossed. Freedom and personal rights also extends to those families who believe their children should be buried in dignity and honor – so the Westboro folks should respect those beliefs, too? It only seems fair.
They can worship as they wish at a distance, on their own places, or on the internet videos. No one would mind that at all.
Respect for all. Dignity for all. Tolerance given and tolerance received for and by all.
Oh, well, politeness and manners are so out of style.
      Thanks for barking along, Rumpy!

Gotta love silly …. and this from Monty Python. … Hi Mouse!

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 10 2013 5:00 pm

Never enough silly! Simply adore Monty Python. Thanks for racing over

      • aFrankAngle / Feb 10 2013 5:46 pm

Glad to stop by …. but I still feel like I’m in whirlwind mode.

  13. shoreacres / Feb 10 2013 1:57 am

Those Westboro folks are the worst. I hadn’t heard that there had been some defections, but I’m glad. It takes a lot of energy to stay mean and hateful – maybe they’re wearing down. 😉

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 10 2013 5:09 pm

It does take a lot of energy. Good point. Have to worry about kids growing up in that sort of environment – they have no frame of reference and it’s all they know. Two brave girls. Thanks for adding a lighter note

  14. EllaDee / Feb 10 2013 4:12 am

People are silly… the third certainty in life… second in line after death and just pips taxes.

  15. jannatwrites / Feb 11 2013 5:20 am

Good to hear of the Westboro escapees, I mean, defections. Even if you don’t support the war, it’s really bad taste to ruin funeral services for fallen soldiers. (My opinion, of course.)

Justin Bieber…don’t even know where to start there. Don’t get the fascination. I saw a little of his SNL appearance….seems pretty full of himself (with all the fawning girls, I guess that’s bound to happen.)

  16. Littlesundog / Feb 12 2013 2:44 am

I have time with “silly” every day because it’s good for me to laugh. I sit and watch the squirrels. They live well, seem to enjoy life, and act silly a lot of the time. I’m all for that!

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Feb 12 2013 2:23 pm

There’s nothing better than squirrels to watch for laughs – those little faces and antics! (But I wish the one that charges towards us on walks would stop…it’s in his own best interest…someone’s been feeding it – but Molly wants to play and she’s a little rough for squirrels!) Thanks for scampering over

  17. glenjossart / Sep 3 2013 8:05 am

    Nice painting ”Enigma” 🙂

    • philosophermouseofthehedge / Sep 3 2013 12:53 pm

I love that painting – so full of life and energy – so many stories dancing in it. Would be amazing to view it in person.
Appreciate you taking time to stop by!
