And you are here, why?

Just poking about?

Well, OK, but everyone else is over at Rumpy Dog’s blog reading my interview there.

You can:

Sit. Stay. Wander.

But don’t expect any attention from me.

While the place is quiet, I’m using the time to catch up on my reading uninterrupted.

It’s best to keep the Humans ignorant of this ability…they might start making demands about contributing.

Oh, while you’re here, you don’t mind handing down that batch of kitty crack Greenies, do you? They would want you to do that. I’m sure in their hurry to adore my words, they just forgot. I’d do it myself – despite the thumb thing – but I don’t want to lose my place. Thanks in advance for that.

Leaving? Fine.

But one more thing – just tilt the blinds a bit more? Time for a bit of baking…and meditating with mousie on the serenity of tidal foam…and mousies….on the universal symbolism of the restless ocean…and mousies…. and on the soft winds that cool all without regard to prejudice….and, did I mention, mousies?

There’s some fresh ones under the sink in that bag, if you don’t mind since you are here…Don’t bother selecting one – I’ll relieve you of that burden – just open the bag and place it quietly by my paw. Here…as you reverently leave the room….

You don’t mind if I inspect your pockets for contraband Greenies and mousies before you leave?

You can’t be too careful these days.

Most bloggers need inspiration at one time or another – and everyone knows about mousies: Inspirational. Mind soothing. Something about altered realities….I forget.

Not my concern.

Carry on.

No need to mention this conversation to the other occupants of this blog.

I do have a certain image to uphold.

Yes, as a spoiled demanding helpless creature of limited communication abilities.

I have no desire to alter that perception.

You now have permission to withdraw.

Protocol is to respectfully bow out.

(Leaving any souvenir mousies that may have inadvertently obtained)

And don’t forget to leave an open can of food in the doorway as tribute.

That is all.

I am RC Cat and I approve this message.

Well that explains a lot!! 🙂 Oh – and I’m here because you clicked like on my Clouds blog, and I was puzzled the first time you did that, (dont know whether it was Clouds or Roughseas) as I hadn’t made the link. So now I’m happy. Good eh? No tins of food available only red pepper and tomato soup.

After years of being in research and forced to narrowly focus, it’s such fun to wander across ideas and topics. Never know what you’ll find. Live adventurous – and spicy tomato soup? Thanks, just the thing for this grey day. Enjoyed your visit.

Silly humans – always thinking they have the superior knowledge. Cats have been using wireless communication for eternity. Molly wishes your attention now.(She asked me to pass that along as you seem to be distracted with less important things….of course I responded with a sharp “Moi? Less important, never.” But you may go now.)
The German: “Please excuse the cat’s attitude. She is what she is, sorry. We appreciate you stopping to chat…want to play ball?”

RC Cat here. “Oh, you are too kind! One for my very own. I will insist a miniature charm be created for my necklace. Can’t wait to show it off by sititing in the window and letting the reflection astound the other creatures. Applause accepted.”
“Uh, psst,” the German here. “Please speak softly. RC think this is hers. Don’t worry. I’ll notify Phil…but we may not be able to get that award charm out of RC’s tiny brain…hope that is ok. Thanks so much for the recognition for Mouse.”

Ah, cats. They rule the home. Silly dogs, always trying to make the humans love them. Rulers should be feared/respected, not loved. Haven’t dogs read “The Prince?”

RC Cat: “Since you sound smarter than many humans, I’ll take a moment to concur. Silly dogs. They got distracted by the hawks, horses, and the promise of outdoor running. Haven’t you noticed dogs in book clubs are always purchasing book Cliff Notes the day before the discussions? Thanks for appreciating true intelligence. You did bring the requested tribute? Good human. Now, I must resume my meditation.”

Bongo, I always enjoy reading about your adventures – especially the Ghost Dog. Maybe one day I will get along with the German as well as you and Scratchy get along. You are an inspiration. I am just not sure of her intentions yet…especially when those big feet come galloping down the hall. We are in negotiations. Thank you for reading my story and encouragement.

(From Hodi and Sage to RC) RC, we loved your piece in Rumpy Dog’s bog. Our momma says we too were found together in a tree by her step-mom, but not under such dire circumstances. When she saw us for the first time, she noticed that despite our size (we could fit in the palm of her hand), we were extra ferocious. She laughs at our story of scaring our own German, but we know it’s a supportive laugh because we were very mighty even then. Now we’re about to turn 14 and we have a disgusting Beagle who eats our mousies, our mousies that we love to fling in the air, bat under doors and mrrrow about!! They’re best when you get a bunch under the couch and momma lifts it up – then there’s ALL THE MOUSIES AT ONCE! The nasty Beagle chews up the covering and spits out the plastic husks or leaves the occasional tail to taunt us. It has no respect. We hates it. So, we scare it, too and make it whimper. Not so tough when it’s not a mousie, are you? Since momma took the mousies away, something about the Beagle eating them and that not being good, we will now demand these Greenies. Thank you for the suggestion!

(From Beth: Sorry for the verbosity! Your posts just inspire me to write. Also, loved what you said on Rumpy Dog’s post – I couldn’t agree more about animals being a life time commitment – I almost stood up and applauded that line alone and I also agree that the selling of animals on the side of the road or in parking lots should be stopped. I always love your writing and your your turn of phrase; it’s truly brilliant)

RC Cat “We weep for mousie tails…which have been removed as the sight was so disturbing…It is morning mousie time and I must paws while I hold one tightly to my forehead….thank you for understanding, Hodi and Sage of the Universal Mousie Brotherbood…”
Then German ” Be brave beagle buddy! And Phil says we love stories…just ignore that rude cat.”

Wonderful attempt to POV a cat, but we all know they’re so superior to us, that we can’t read their mind. That would be like explaining physics to a dog.

Thanks. Sometimes we are allowed a glimpse into life of a cat, but only a bit…they are cautious about giving away secrets. And you are right about explaining physics to a dog – they are so much are into environmental studies. Appreciate you adding your thoughts.

From RC: Sounds like your person needs a time out! Also have you considered having the round door knob thingies changed out to those little arms that go up and down? So much more practical. You can open doors yourself – especially pantry doors where treats are kept. Actually I tell the German that’s there’s a dog treat on the other side, and she will do the work for me. Mousies rule.
