Christmas is piggy greedy.

Christmas hogs it.

All that merry merry.

All that goodwill towards men.

All that kindness towards others.

All that rushing around doing good deeds.

So many songs of peace on earth.

All stuff everyone really needs.

Christmas Dog in overload

This year, after packages are all opened, and tummies all full,

As all sit around warmed by the glow of friends and family,

Maybe it would be a good idea to bank some of all that?

There’s so much available  at this time of year; it won’t be missed.

Here.

Drop a little in here – so some of the good stuff will be on hand all year long.

Piggy for good.

Piggy for good.

Grab a little tolerance (So you can believe what you believe. And I can believe what I believe. And we can agree to disagree, but still get along by finding common ground.)

Snatch up a little kindness. (Spread that out some. There’s lots of opportunities. Capture the neighbors garbage can before it flies all the way down the street. Open a door for someone. Let that guy with one item go ahead of you in the checkout line. Refuse to laugh at another’s misfortune or pain. Treat others as you wish to be treated, that’s kind.)

Gather up a little extra encouragement. (Never enough of this on the streets. Look around. Just think: the way life is today, your small comment might be the only positive thing that happens to that person the entire day.)

Pile in plenty of hope (It’s like water: a flood of it can move any barrier. A trickle can invade a tiny spot, widen it, until it successfully flows through. A calm pond is reflective. Yeah, hope is always good to have on hand)

Stuff in plenty of giggles, smiles, and eyes shining brightly (All those expand once let loose)

There’s so much of this stuff bouncing off the walls during Christmas, some of it should be collected and frozen until needed.

All of these are very odd coins: the more they are spent, the more they return.

So Christmas don’t be piggy.

Share some of the wealth.

So everyone use your pockets, your Tupperware, those bins, jars, or this piggy bank.

Saving some for later might be saving ourselves?

Isn’t Santa watching all year long?

Phil, the Philosopher Mouse of the Hedge.

warm snowman

May warmth and joy find your hearth and linger long.

From one Philosopher to another (my blog is The Return of the Modern Philosopher), I’d say your Deep Thoughts are spot on! 🙂

I think there’s some special Santa clause for dogs…24 hours is a long time! Woo Woo. (would chat longer but mutt interecept. Molly ( all clean from bath) is now digging a hole and plopping down in the mud…it’s the earthworms…she says added protein, I say mess.
But merry on! Not much longer ( don’t listen to Scratchy – cats only want to get you in trouble…) Glad you trotted by

Beautiful sentiments and suggestions! My favorite is “Grab a little tolerance.” Opinions aren’t facts. We can hold different ones simultaneously and the world will continue on its merry way. 🙂

Christmas trees can have lots of different styles and types of ornament – yet the whole tree is beautiful – society can be like that too, …if people want it to be. Glad you had time to slow the sleigh and toss a comment this way. Happy holly to ya’ today!

I especially like your grab a little tolerance thing. Just for saying that I’ll be coming backto your blog more regular. I’ve been running into a lot of intolerance lately; in real life, but also in the blogosphere. Even wrote about it on my blog. Love this post, it’s a shame there’s only a ‘like’-button. 🙂

It would be nice if everyone took a deep breath, resolved to be less sensitive, and became determined to find common ground.
(wandering over to tour your blog shortly) Thanks for slowing the sleigh long enough to chat – Happy holly to ya’

As old Varnish John liked to say, “You start where you can start, and do what you can do.” A corollary – do what you can, not what you can’t!

For practice: tell a checker at the grocery store she looks nice, or you like her hair, or whatever. Watch what happens. 😉

Two great channel markers for life! Both would make life less stressful.
Another great idea to actually look at someone and make a specific compliment – so many feel invisible these days – like no one every sees them.. Every little step starts a journey. Maybe the new year will offer a more positive wandering around the sun. Joyous jingles to you!

I loved your post when I first read it in my E-mail. I agree with your sentiments that this should be an all-year thing (with exceptions for certain dogs of course). To me, the letter “Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus”, echoes similar sentiments. It’s not about the gifts, it’s about the attitudes.

    Happy New Year!

Christmas gets lost amid all the marketing noise. If parts of it wandered through the year no one would complain. Hope your new year has started off brightly! Thanks for tossing a comment in
