Muse or Mushhead redux

Ah, the elusive muse.

Reaching out softly to create form and design out of foggy thinking. Unable to be ordered or commanded. Pure.

At odds with the Mushhead determined to cause enough discord for the most charitable to flee screaming.

And once again a small stage of characters strutting and fretting.

Muse or Mushhead?

The Groundings and Stinkards  never have problems discerning.

So pitch in a penny and stand to get your money’s worth.

It’ll be fun – like middle school was.

These Muses inspire? Prissy. Proper. Politically connected. Oh, that’s it.

She actually stood up and said it with a straight face.

The Red Cross spokeswoman calls their response to Hurricane Sandy “near flawless so far in this operation.”

Her comments to NBC news (video and article) were a tad defensive.

Some of the interviewed residents beg to differ.

Their President and CEO was a little more realistic with ” overall performance at this point is OK” but would like it to be “more perfect.”

Applause to all the Red Cross volunteers that actually do the hard work – without a big salary or office with a view or invitations to all those fancy parties with important politically connected  guests.

Something speaks to them.

Sometimes what works best are those small, almost invisible, and unknown – ask the Muses. 

The Muse Calliope, no timid maid. Confident and forceful – lucky those she chooses to aid

Ignoring the reality, chin forward, she boldly announced what had been formulated: an offending wretch caused all it – inciting a spontaneous mob.

So focus that outrage and “off with his video”?

Never a oopsie?

Just repeating the thin line? To grieving parents?

Oh, Hillary. Hillary. Hillary.

How sad.

You seem so strong, yet men are always pushing you around.

They’ll destroy you if you let them.

Sounds like a country western song – Oh, wait. You did live one of those.

Expected so much more. So disappointed.

You manage to vanish – always at a distance when there’s a fuss or mud being thrown.

Must be those survivor skills

(Do you adore reality TV shows? Is that how you managed?)

They all look a la muse.

Well, at least you have your friends (with large taxpayer-funded security detail)

No need to let demands your job get in the way of friendly gatherings.

Oh, Congress will just have to get on your dance card. (Is Dec. good for you?)

Sorry it’s just so exhausting, doing your job. (We all know how that can be.)

So glad Susan Rice was able to sub for you for so many interviews.

Even though it isn’t in her UN job description

Although she may not have had all the facts you might at hand. (She wouldn’t intentionally mislead.)

Great to have friends to help out until you are rested.

Hush. Is that a Muse speaking? Shrieking? 

And the commiserating violinists play on.

Muses seem to have a thing for warriors?

A Muse might counsel this verse could apply to emails.

Please let it be a script for the next James Bond movie: “Two Can Keep a Secret if One of Them is Dead.”

Many in the NASA/ JSC community watching the scandal break are thinking:

“Glad to shuttle this one off to you guys.

Please don’t let adult diapers be involved.“

Already with as many exotic plot acrobatics and contortions as Cirque du Soleil.

Maybe it’s the Washington area culture? Trying to copy that Hollywood glitz?

The frat boy antics of the Secret Service.

The CIA partying down.

The Administration spending like a drunken sailor.

Hey, if everyone else jumped off a cliff would you follow? (Insert snorting juvenile responses of your choice here.)

Still everything has a purpose.

Pretty, but unknown actresses wiggling with expectations of a docudrama or even a TV series?

Perhaps some will unplug and pick up a book. Search some light reading for a glimmer?

Franklin’s Poor Richard’s Almanac or even the Boy Scout Handbook – for escape fiction, right?

The Muses enchanted Apollo. So what chance do modern warriors have?

Listen to a Muse? They’ve been around a while and seen it all.
