White Buffy re-do, too?
It’s a do-over.
Since maybe the last one got so screwed up?
Whew – someone is looking out for us.
Not happening where anyone would expect: out there where the buffalo roam.
Oh, forgot. Buffalo out West sort of wander within reason – in designated areas.
But hey, they pretty much command those roads.
Ever tried to hurry one up with a Volt or Mini?
Might makes right.
Shouldn’t it have been in the community where it would have a following?
Like the in the Dakota’s?
Special appearances could have been reserved to improve the financial situation of Native Americans who were promised respect, support, and protection by government treaties.
Hmm. Ask the Alabama-Coushotta tribe how that’s working these days.
Still making raids of a modern sort on their lands.
Seems like it would have taken place where it meant something -
and was convenient for those interested.
Maybe the West is just a little too wild this year?
Uncontrollable lightning jolts.
Fierce wildfires raging.
An anticipated bumper corn crop withering in dry fields.
Solar flares causing the Northern Lights to dance too far from home.
Incomprehensible human violence .
Better distance that little innocent one from the chaos?
Shelter in place while things stabilize?
A lot of people prayin’ this week.
Sioux tribal elders saw it much earlier – and begin traditional ceremonial prayers in June.
And went home to wait.
It usually take 3 days.
They asked for a another chance.
They asked for a White Buffalo Calf to be sent.
Three days later, a White Buffalo Calf was born.
But born on what was previously a dairy farm in Northwest Connecticut near Goshen?
Born in New England? What’s with that?
Well, at least the farmer, Peter Fay, sports buffalo tats – and he admires buffaloes for their toughness.
(OK for their profitability, too, as he sells his hobby animals.)
Wait! The farm is named Mohawk Mountain.
(Who says the universe doesn’t have a sense of humor?)
Fay is buffaloed, uh stunned, at the event.
He’s positive of the bloodlines, but has sent of DNA to be analyzed to be sure this little one is all buffalo – not a cattle-buffalo mix. And it’s not an albino.
He’s in contact with Sioux tribal elders who have sent gifts to the calf and are planning a Naming Ceremony.
Peter Fay and his 2 daughters have been invited to participate and are being instructed by Sioux tribal members.
As he commented, “They say it’s going to bring good things to all people in the world. How can you beat that? That’s how I look at it.”
Despite the significance of the White Buffalo’s birth, they’ve tried to keep things quiet.
If it’s a do-over, probably best to avoid what happened to the Lightning Medicine Cloud.
That was the White Buffalo Calf born near Greenville, Texas.
High profile story.
White Buffalo births are rare: one in 10 million
And there’s the prophecy in Sioux legend of Whope, the Lakota goddess of peace.
A big Naming Ceremony. People followed him as he grew.
Then, slaughtered and skinned just before his first birthday in what appears to be a hate crime.
There’s always some joker causing trouble.
So Peter Fay says there’s always someone guarding this calf.
In any case it’s a rare animal – and it was born just 3 days after those ceremonial prayers.
Maybe sent to shelter in New England.
A second chance?
An answer to a prayer?
Some will gather in a hay field on July 28 in hope.
People say that the East Coast location of the White Buffalo Calf is important for raising awareness.
(News media salivating: There’s something to grab everyone’s attention)
Or if you’re not into that sort of thing, July 28th is also National Day of the Cowboy to honor and preserve pioneer heritage and cowboy culture.
Events are planned in several places.
At the Autry Museum in L.A. there will be everything from roping demonstrations to Square dancing to BBQ. Oh, and you can also view their significant collections of the Southwest Museum of the American Indians.
Sounds like a giddyap good time?
Wonder what the Dalai Lama thinks about this White Buffalo Calf.
He certainly would understand innocents being hunted.
That karma thing.
You can’t roller skate in a buffalo (All sing along with the tune here.)
In case you’ve forgotten, lyrics here.
Go ahead: read ‘em and hum along…
The baby buffy wants you to (He’s quite mischievous.)
And probably the Dalai Lama, too.
